Bosses in video:
[0:00] 1. Deep Blues
[0:41] 2. King Conga
[1:34] 3. Death Metal
[2:10] 4. Coral Riff
[3:47] 5. Dead Ringer
[4:23] 6. NecroDancer
[6:23] 7. NecroDancer 2
[7:11] 8. The Golden Lute - Ігри
The little pauses in King Conga's battle are absolute genius imo. So much fun.
This game feels like you’re playing chess in a middle of a rave.
That is a very accurate description. Especially that chess boss.
Finally someone who knows how to say what I exactly felt!
More like speed chess, but precisely
against the best chess player over and over
🤣🤣🤣
This is what a level 20 bard looks like
Gideon Hoogvliet I stole the golden lute. Mine now.
@@Joryho he wants it back or he'll call the cops on you.
Why only Level 20? What system are you using?
@@zacharyjoy8724 Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, most likely. Level 20 is the maximum there (at least for players - some few monsters go higher), and is pretty much "can fight a god and win" territory.
@@JohnvanCapel and then chromatic dragons that are somehow 20x stronger than gods just casually exist lol. Dunno if in 5e though
4:25 is the sickest boss fight I've ever seen. It has everything: insane coordination, multitasking, split second decisions, perfection, and most importantly, a sick beat.
name of the song pleaseeeeeeeeeee
@Elephant Seal or Momentum Mori
Honestly the first time I beat it was complete luck. Beat it first try tho.
And when your heart is pounding like crazy, it only makes that much more intense
Seriously, I think I've beaten the first Necrodancer fight a ton of times and yet everytime I get there, my heart is racing
Decisions? Coordination? Bard and whip-then fucuf that shish.
"Look, I see, you're tired of Rhythm Heaven"
is this alpharad
YES id love to see alpha rage at this
2 days later he then makes a video not rythym heaven
Now it's "not legend of Zelda" kind of
A fellow member of the Ernie Gang, I see
The conga boss fight always makes me wished that it was longer
Ok I know this post is two years old but I agree.
It seems like such a good starter boss because it shaves off a beat every so often so you can think about how to get yourself out of any predicament you might be in.
The conga line part was the absolute best part
@@shellsoura6539 broh its such a good song
Ok I know this post is four years old but I agree.
@@rattle_me_bones okay i know this reply is a 2 years old but i agree with yall
So that's what this game looks like...
It's one of those games I'd love to play but would never get past the first boss.
Hahaha :(
So true. Maybe having some Zelda style will inspire you to do better. ;)
Same
I can't even get past Zone 1's 4th level-
Played for a few hours, still getting my ass kicked by the zone 1 boss. At least I don't feel bad for losing with a groove this catchy!
1:48 Can we appreciate how well the "Come to me!" from the boss fits ABSOLUTELY perfect with the music?!
i don't get what the necrodancer is laughing about, he's failed to hit you every single time he's tried
Holy shit. I found my old comment.
@@georgeridden1705New account?
8:32 I love how the two rhythms are perfectly synchronized and make an amazing beat
that's on purpose. the entire game is rhythm
i know, i'm saying that it sounds really cool when the pigs shooting and the music combine
I never thought to throw the dagger at the golden lute boss. That looks WAY easier than attacking its body to advance an odd number of turns, which is the strategy I used.
Another strategy is to use the bouncepads to re-synchronize to the head movement.
yeah, generally any hit to its head while it's confused from another attack will deal extra damage
“Warning! Conga line in progress”
I know it's a beard and a collar, but I always like imagining that the NecroDancer is an elephant, and the beard is a trunk and the collar is elephant ears.
Thesaurus Rex I like the way you think
I now can't unsee it
7:11 it's not like you have a choice to do the boss with no damage anyways XD
Aria has a potion which can save her from 1 attack. So, you do have a choice. :)
Also glass armor, freeze charm, ring of shielding, and crown of teleportation.
So used to the golden lute quick kill that i never thought of doing a beat buffer by throwing the dagger instead. Seems terrifying.
Gamer Face it's anyway not anyways
Gamer Face :3
I love when bosses pllay their own boss theme
I'm looking at you Dr. Jamming
In Pokemon black and white (or it's sequel, I'm not quite sure) there is a poison type gym leader (who is the leader of this koffing themed rock band) that as you beat her gym trainer's, the music cuts out instrument by instrument until you get to her, jamming away on her guitar at the end.
holy cow this game looks like so much fun
Oxman 7077 "fun"
*dying to negrodancer again*
It is on sale at steam right now, you should go buy it
Someone Random I've been waiting to hear that
Cody Mischke could be worse
could be aria on lute in amplified
Oxman 7077 yeah like he said this game is awesome though, but it is also challenging... like, REALLY challenging... like for Aria, do NOT miss a beat, you get hit you'll die, and you only use a dagger, and you have two chances
Game bosses: dancing wildly
Your character: dancing wildly
Kid with epilepsy playing this game: dancing wildly on the floor
Woah. You've truly mastered this. You make look it so easy.
I'm very much struggeling with Cadence in Zone 4 at the Necrodancer as I've already lost too much life during the 3 levels.
I reccomend going to the beastmaster and practicing against the enemies you have the hardest time with. I had trouble with the Blademasters and Lichs until their pattern sunk in. Now that the DLC has come out there's a whole nother zone to memorize. (except i'm a noturna main so zone five is suuuper easy to me)
I love how the "Huh"
Fits perfectly in the beat.
I think that only happens whenever you attack four beats in a row
We need more games that mix things up like this
Cool detail: all the characters in Deep Blue are based off of chess. They move according to their chest piece. This even includes the horses. I think the ponds might be the one exception to this though m
Wdym they only move forward and attack diagonally?
Also their name probably derives from Deep Blue, the computer that beat Kasparov in chess
@@DuckStrider Ohhhhhhh
People who are good at this game make this shit look like an art form and it's insane
Check mate in 70 turns
Anyone here after the Cadence of Hyrule reveal?
Yep. Came to see what this game was. It looks pretty good. The music sounds amazing too.
I have this on steam but haven't touched it yet - a story that can be told for many games I bought on sale or whatever. I don't have quite as much free time anymore, either, so starting some really big game like Hollow Knight or Crypt of the Necrodancer or Bastion isn't something I can do right now.
@@jimmyjohnjoejr is this game that big? To be compared with hollow knight?
I didn't expect that.
@@UnknowingTio oh I'm not sure.
Me
I had to see what this game was, it came up in one of the completionist videos. Had no idea this existed the concept is cool but it’s making my brain go insane looking at all the stuff going on. Congrats to anyone who can do this 😂
Don't worry this isn't the worst the game has to offer. There is a mode where the tempo you have to move at is doubled, you cant pick up gold, you cant get hit, and if you miss a beat you die
the pixel genre has never been so lit
It feels like I'm moving to the beat, even when I'm standing still
when it said necrodancer i didn't even realize this was what it meant
it's fucking great but i can tell i am literally incapable of playing this
It's very difficult, but if you play it enough, you'll get used to it. I've clocked over 800 hours (recorded playtime)... and still haven't beaten the game with Aria. :V
I’ve played the crossover with Legend of Zelda (the demo at least) and it’s really fun. Good luck getting out of the rhythm after playing though
@@danielmclatchie2053 this is a completely different game. cadence of hyrule is the Necrodancer x Zelda game
Insane! It took me 10 hours just to beat zone 4! This game is amazing!
This was really cool, awesome music !
4:55 it sound more like he’s talking through his teeth trying to remind someone that that’s their cue to do something
You sir are very good at this game. I just panic and flail around like an idiot lol
Such a nice concept...If your sense of rythm is off,I guarantee you'll defenettely have it in your blood by the end of this game 😄
This made me realize how bad I am at this game xD I can't get pass the 2nd lvl
quickfireyt YA SUCK ECKSDDDEEEEEE jk, i had hard time playing patapon, you know THR MOST AMAZING GAME EVER
Honestly it takes a lot of time to "git gud" but once you start to develop strats and pattern it gets easier and the game gets less frustrating.
My prime exemple is the red dragon, i used to get POWNED by this fellow and rage quit until i started to notice it can only breath fire horizontaly, after that it got easier to beat and felt really satisfiing. Good luck!
Play with the bard and try to take as little damage as possible, eventually you'll know what needs to be done to defeat enemies and then you can take them on as Cadence
Imagine chess with heartbeat timer.
Started playing last night. So hard. So fun.
King Conga has to be my favorite, not only for the pun but the music has gotta be the grooviest
Death metal is just the best hahaha
Metal always sounds so rad in midi form, I was stoked when he showed up
All the music is great but I was just hoping we'd get a fast shreddy metal song
That melodeath harmony lead with the golden serpent is always sweet too
It's like amon amarth or insomnium
That Coral Riff one... damn.
Damn, you're good
Gotta love a boss who can pull of a Kefka-esque laugh
...that's not Kafkaesque
They said Kefka-esque.
It sounds more palpatine-esque to me.
We ain’t making of this Necrodancers Crypt with this one!!!
Wow this game has really good. It's pretty cool too.
I love these videos and I love this song, neuron activation is happening
Bobbing my head through the whole video
Necromany has never been so fucking fabulous.
5:00 When the Necrodancer says "Curse you!" and the music picks up speed you know we're no longer messing around.
King Conga my beloved.
I noticed that Deep Sea Bass (Coral Riff) is the only boss theme that isn't slightly muffled before entering the room. I wonder why.
Damn, you are really good at this game.
Honestly just recently I've got to play the game, and I could not believe my eyes when this game asked me to play CHESS in the middle of a rhythm game.
what was really weird about this game other than the whole music thing is that unlike a lot of rogue-like games your character is powerful as hell compared to everyone else on the board and often no one mistake would kill you
@Mallory Oakes oh yea ill admit you will die hella lot but what im stating is usually in most rogue-likes you are weak as sh*t but in crypt of the necrodancer you are the strongest one of the board usually only dying after several mistakes (which yea you'll make) or getting overwhelmed
its a weird taste for the genre but I wouldn't call it a bad taste
Until you play as Aria
*ABSOLUTE MAD MAN*
That golden lute seems important.
This game's music bangs!
You have excellent rhythm
I made a game that people said reminded them of this, so I decided to check it out. It looks pretty good.
SuperGamersGames , what’s it called
Oh man, you don't even let the song to go through the best parts because you're going so fast, haha
This isn't even the quickkill strats
Seriously, nice game.
the way you beat coral riff with a dagger
Why do you throw the dagger so much vs coral riff?
That's the safe way to kill it. You'll get hit every time if you try to attack it with dagger at close range.
Plus, the only negative effect is it extends the fight. Even if you keep moving straight through water, you can still outrun him.
I was under the impression that you could move stand with 3 spaces between the two of you, both move towards each other at the same time, you then have a move and then attack before he gets his attack off... ahh well, maybe im just misremembering the boss.
You're not wrong. That IS easily doable without taking damage. This is just safer.
Coral Riff only damages you if you let it step next to you.
However if you wait until it moves and there's 1 tile distance between you, stepping next to it in the 1st beat and hitting it in the 2nd will damage it and you'll remain unharmed. It's a quick and easy method.
Too bad the boss attack pattern is so badly telegraphed, if a shockwave was drawn around it, it would be more obvious how to fight him.
BREATHING FIRE!!
I suck at Crypt of the necrodancer, but honestly, it's got great music. Also it's good to play on switch. It was at a sale for 4€! So, I thought why not.
This is nuts
so... how does this game work?
It's a procedurally generated dungeon crawler. You use the arrow keys for every action, with single button presses moving you, and combinations of 2 using various tools and items (as seen when he throws the Dagger). You have to move and perform actions to the beat of the music, indicated my the Heartbeat at the bottom of the screen (and listening to the music, of course) Normally a regular run consists of a set of 3 floors followed by a boss fight, but this is Boss Rush, so no normal floors.
megaman161 so really intense and requires lot of reaction time?
It can be really intense, but once you understand how each enemy moves and reacts to you it's more of a chess game, so to speak. Learning when to move, when it's safe to attack and such requires some practice. Especially with some characters like Aria (the last one shown) who will die if you miss a movement beat, get hit, or take any other weapon except the Dagger. Then there's Coda, who if I recall correctly the developers said at some point was impossible to beat the game with. I might be remembering that wrong or it might be hyperbole. He's extremely, extremely difficult though.
megaman161 I wouldn't call it hyperbole. The steam achievement for beating an all zones coda run has a completion percentage that shows that only about 5 people have earned it.
megaman161, what happens, if you don't time your beats of the music, what happens? And what happens, if you don't do anything?
Oh, of course! It was this simple!
It would be cool if in the fight with the instruments when you kill a set of something that instrument stopped. So in the end its just you and the slow beat of the bass guitar.
they do stop playing if you destroy them prior to the part where coral reef itself(the bass) comes for you, provided you use the original soundtrack (danny b's). however the instruments goes back to playing when you're at that part. a really neat detail tbh
I watched the entire thing without ever touching the video
so whats the deal?? do you have to move every beat or else you explode?? or does it move you every beat and you have to make sure its the right way?? how does this work
Enemies have patterns based on the stage beat (how they move and when they attack), so to avoid getting hit you have to move on rhythm and calculate your distance from them. In regular stages you also get a coin multiplier if you keep the beat, and that makes it easier to buy stuff in the stores that you can find.
You can technically just stand still with all but two characters, it'll just reset your coin multiplier (which doesn't even matter in the middle of a boss fight) but it'd kinda be like skipping a turn in any other game
3,2,1 Name your favorite songs from this game; mines are
Moseleum mash
Coral riff
Dead ringer
Last dance
Woah, a game that justifies me moving around to the beat of the catchy music?
this looks like a game i would struggle to play
nice stuff
As someone who loves chess, deep blues is probably my favorite boss
I don't know this game works. Does she move automatically or do you control her and you need to follow the beat?
Simon S. You control her and you time your movement and attacks to the beat.
I get the pun "necroDAncer" is a pun for necromancer, but I guess everyone else already knows that, (This game overall has a lot of instrument and song puns)
it's like edgar wright made a video game
I guess you can say that you are *beat* slapping everyone
The miniboss with the bell on the head (dead ringer fight) looks like Velstadt from Dark Souls II!
He is actually a story boss and only cadence gets him
He seems like a miniboss because he only has two health...until you realize that he can't be damaged (except by a few rare weapons).
... he has 6 hp
and the earthquake scroll
А за Коду слабо?
This is so cool. Though unfortunately, I figured out that this game is too much for my brain to handle.
I never played this game, and i don't know what's going on, but it looks funky
Just move in the rhythm 👌
Admittedly, I haven't the foggiest notion what is going on in this video.
Rhythm style games are not my type, but this one looks cool

Да ладно? Серьезно? Добра тебе, чувак.
Why not do it with Aria or Coda?
Can you only move in tune with the beat?
Yes, if you move too far out of the beat you won't move
Yep. With the exception of a Bard playthrough (which is pretty much Easy Mode), everything in the game moves to the music - making this part rhythm game, part Roguelike dungeon crawler.
Yes
you don't miss a beat, do you?
What's with dead ringer? Was he mob fight the boss?
Like Gideon from anti birth?
You could say that, but Gideon summons monsters by waves and the mini-bosses here are summoned by the bells, another difference is that Gideon doesn't attack you directly, and dead ringer will charge at you if in 5 cardinal tiles of his sight, the 2nd dead ringer stage is the same charge but a lot more dangerous. (Ik that this comment is old)
IS THAT CADENCE?!
It took me a while why is it called "Deep Blues".
“The ultimate chess”
It's impressive!! I will bever be this good and it increase my admiration 0o0!!
The soundtrack 👍
how do u Play it?
2:11 (or 2:12) can you melee attack the boss, instead of throwing the knife?
You can, but he wasn't trying to lose his multiplier... And he would of had to of skipped a beat to wait for the boss to get to him... (skipping a beat, taking damage, and hitting a wall that you cant break down will cause you to lose a multiplier).
is it worth it for multi bonus?
Sometimes holding the beat gives bonuses on items, particularly obsidian items... And some characters die if you miss one beat, so it is good if you train yourself to stick it right.
chad morris ok
True, but it takes more time/moves setting up to melee than to line up and throw the dagger. He resets on hit either way, so retrieval gives him something to do rather than prancing around waiting for boss man to get back from his seascape vacation.
What a Deep Blue fight Kappa
What kind of beat will you have to beat Ganon at beating?
Lovely.
When was the last time that we look at a gameplay video and still don't know how to play?
