If you’re watching this video between me posting this comment and August 26, there’s another Rift demo currently available! The content is the same as the first demo, so no new videos will be coming from it, but if you haven’t played it yet I highly encourage you to do so!
@@bazookaman1353 You should be able to get the highest rank without getting an FC or all perfects. But, also, the game should track if you HAVE gotten an FC or All Perfects separately, and not require it for any unlocks. All Perfect just isn't very fun to do, and if you have to get an FC for the highest rank, then the scoring system doesn't mean anything. So, neither one of them should really be pushed, imo.
@@LaughingThesaurus Yeah, getting highest rank without all perfect is usually a good indicator of "You're up there buddy, just a little more practice for the perfect clear" rather than "Ok another perfect, lost three days on it and don't wanna hear that song ever again..." it's supposed to be motivating! xD
i am a hardcore necrodancer lover but to be honest i had very low expectations in this game when seeing the trailers since it looked very generic compared to the original game. not even 2 songs in the demo i completely take that back holy shit this game is so creative and fun
Actually if you play music games a lot (I play DDR, ITG, SMX, IIDX and PnM), then you can quickly learn how to "read" those charts. Ravevenge got a little bit messy, but I figured out the sight reading easily while watching it once.
Even with that miss on Ravevenge you got like 20k higher score than my record. ^^' very nice play! dude, when i first got an SS rank, just doing an easy track to mess around, my jaw dropped. I didn't know they existed and I had just got S ranks for hard on everything... so of course I went straight back to grinding. This game is too fun :3
Yaknow... looking at the intensity bar for ravevenge... Looks like it can go even higher. Since there is still space on that bar. Which'll be interesting to see.
At first I was sort of disappointed seeing the genius genre mash-up of Cotd take a step back into more traditional rhythm game affair, but as the charts got deeper and the enemy effects were shown off more I've done a complete reversal and now I'm super excited. But man, the harder difficulty songs in this one are going to be brutal, that last chart had me absolutely bamboozled trying to play along.
WOW. How long did it take you? I barely managed to get S on hard on all songs after 5h. And SS on ravevenge hard after additional 5. The ending of this song is brutal.
Man the music and game sounds and looks awesome, i would actually can play it but I’m pretty sure it would be hard for me to keep track of what’s going on
@@UltraCboy well yeah it might take a few tries but its still nowhere near the difficulty of other rhythm games like DJMAX or Muse Dash. The game looks fun so I'm hoping for some super hard charts for rhythm game veterans
Gameplay looks interesting but i gotta say for being designed like there is two people confronting each other they don't look really into it. Candence only reacts when hurt or using star power and the villain is just 🗿
Lots of accuracy training & having good video/audio calibration. Accuracy is a vital skill in just about any rhythm game, so if you can train it in one game it'll help you out in most others.
Did you forget to use your Vibe Gauge? On some charts it’s impossible to get an SS rank without using the Vibe Gauge in some capacity, even with a perfect score otherwise.
I'm honestly excited to see what people end up doing with songs from more traditional rhythm games. Imagine the madness BBKKBKK or Blackmagik Blazing would be in a game like this.
i havent payed much attention to the gameplay in the trailers so to actually see it now.. wowie its really REALLY impressive how many cool ideas for monster behaviours they came up with for this gameplay style! game looks great honestlly
Yeah the game is designed in a way that’s super creative and unique but still fair, and we’ve probably only seen the half of it. Can’t wait until the full release. Also please do play the demo if you haven’t already, it’s free on Steam until June 27th.
I love the fact they kept the mechanic of different monsters behaving differently from CotN It makes things more difficult, but also very satisfying once you pull it off
You can bet someone is going to craete an intentionally confusing song/series of enemies.Like bats & shielded skeletons on the left, mixed with slimes in the middle and right.
I love this type of innovation in charting! It reminds me of the old gimmicks used in homebrew stepmaniax/in the groove charts, with arrows flying around and changing places. This looks fun to learn and hard to master, perfect balance for a rhythm game.
5:07 idk why it took me so long to notice the close shave here. The wyrm would have hurt you and ruined your combo if you hadn't activated the vibe invincibility. Close call!
Even just this demo is such a blast, so excited for the full game! Though... Ravevenge on hard was a very humbling experience on just how bad I am at registering multiple different little things at the same time lol.
This game just puts a smile on my face. At first, I was just excited about the game because it was related to cotn. But seeing the gameplay; this is definitely something I'd buy.
I don't think I've ever seen a rhythm game of this kind that makes "notes" move in discreet intervals The enemy variety is pretty cool and sometimes gives me rhythm heaven vibes Not a fan of the lava bits as it made the patterns pretty unintuitive
On second thought, maybe RotND isn't a good introduction to rhythm games I can barely do normal modes, and that excludes Ravevenge I just keep messing inputs Also, shielded sceletons are kinda bs, their timings are so confusing
Yeah as much as I love Rift so far, you kind of need prior experience in other rhythm games to be able to enjoy it bc so much of the challenge is put on reading. I can enjoy it fine bc I’ve been playing Stepmania-style games for several years now but I understand my experience isn’t common, let alone universal.
@@UltraCboy dunno about that, though, I myself don't play too much rhythm games, Hi-Fi Rush is probably the most exposure I've had to rhythm games and I only played like the 13 hours you need to complete the game, and even then I am having a blast with Rift, albeit, I am nowhere close to getting an S rank (haven't even been able to finish the third song in the hardest difficulty) but is not like I can't make heads from tails in the game, heck, I'd say half of the fun is trying to figure what the right "feel" for the sequence is.
It's worth noting that the songs in this demo have difficulty scores of 4/10, 6/10 and 8/10, so the full game might still have a smother learning curve than the one we have here.
Small update: it would appear that the reason I was so bad at the game was because of poor calibration. I still feel like something's off, but at least I managed to do Amalgamaniac on hard and Ravevenge on medium, albeit not perfectly Now, only S-ranking and Ravevenge hard remain
awesome job on these dude! high level gameplay makes me excited to dig into this game when it comes out! do you have any tips for dealing with shielded and non-shieldes enemies on the same row? my hand is extremely unaccustomed to pressing only one of those keys twice rhythmically lol.
Idk what advice to give other than just practice. The more you do that motion, the more comfortable it’ll get. Also make sure your hands are in a comfortable position when you play.

That kinda defeats the purpose tho.
@@bazookaman1353 I think it's cool, although they might change it for the standard when it comes to the missing extreme difficulty.
