As someone who’s been loc’d for 3 years, I say do you!! Not everyone’s journey is one size fits all. I went from experimenting and doing my own retwist to going back to who started my locs originally for maintenance because I needed more care than someone like me who isn’t a professional. You’re doing amazing ❤
Doing your own retwists at the start of the journey is so much more rewarding than getting professional service. Just being fully in charge of your foundation feels amazing. I washed whenever I felt like it, sometimes no retwist at all. It made my locs loc so much faster than if I was waiting monthly to be seen and having all that goop on my hair (chile they using edge control in peoples locs.. I don’t feel like checking nobody or questioning what they are using) .. But after my 1st year down I’m ready to sit in somebody’s chair! No lie! 😂😴
The beautiful thing about locs is they change with each wash. Its empowering see to see the change with each wash. 😍 You aint seen nun yet love bug!! 💋✨ Just patiently wait. 🤗 It gets better and more fun! The itch that come with starter locs ain't for the weak. 😂😂😂 A tough phase for sure but it gets easier once they mature and the hair has finished detoxing. PS: Witch Hazel and QTip weekly between retwists/washes. Witch hazel is an antibacterial that cleanses and moisturizes. We all have a Starter Loc Horror story. 🙍🏾♀️ Girl I washed mine because it was itching so bad in beginning with a wig cap and it got sooo puffy. Lolol I thought I'd have to start over, but it made my locs bud faster. 😜 Your excitement is contagious! I just love your energy in this video. Locs just do something to our confidence. The locs chose you. 💫
I love that you’re trusting your intuition when it comes to your locs cause I’m doing the same 🤎 So much of the “rules” / tips are from people with different hair textures, scalp types, lifestyles, etc. It’s so important to learn what works for you! We started our locs around the same time and I’m so excited to see how our journeys differ or intertwine. Your scalp and hair look so healthy so I already know you have a GREAT base 😍
I think the beautiful thing about this journey is having the space to figure out what uniquely works for you and your hair type/ texture. Everyone is different and so is our hair. You experimenting or not following certain “rules” or even advice is completely okay🤍 you do you sis🌻
Your hair looks so good!! Iv been loced a little over a year and I used to drench mine in water every day when I first got them and I swear the friz mixed with stretch and constricting with going from wet to dry hair made my hair loc faster.
I’ve learned to explore with my locs. I listen to my scalp and hair/locs. I normally wash my hair every 3-5 days. I think that helped my hair loc faster. I started my locs with braids/plaits. I honestly felt like it was going to take forever for my hair to loc up lol. I’m now one year loc’d! I’m so excited to watch your journey! 💖
I dry shampoo with a toothbrush every week because my scalp is itchy as well but water mixed with tea tree oil spray them when it itches helps a great deal
Wow welcome to the loc’d community! I used to watch all of your natural hair stuff a while ago when i was a loose natural ! And was curious how your journey was going lol , so happy to see the update !
My one regret from my loc journey was retwisting myself 😭 I ended up combing them out after a year. I ended up taking hair from other parts and over time my locs starting growing in ways I didn’t love and because I kept doing it too often they got thin. That was like 3 years ago and I might start a journey again but I DEFINITELY will be having someone else do it every 5 weeks so my locs are done properly and have time to grow. Your locs look so good.
I'm loving this loc journey!!! 🌱🌱🌱YES, we know you are gonna do YOU (and we will continue watching because that's one of the things we love that you do!)
Thank for making this quick video. I bought the Innersence I create hold last year (during the beginning of summer). With the debacle of last year and video confirming my suspicions about the BCG technique I kind of been using this product less. I was debating if I was going to use the rest of the bottle (half one) . You kind sealed the deal for me..
I LOVE this video. I also don't mean to get all deep in the comments but this video has been posted at the perfect time for me. I'm going through a lot of changes right now (not hair related lol), with a lot of advice and voices around me on what to do. I have always been the type of person to not let hard times bring me down for too long which has always helped me not be afraid of messing up. But as of lately the advice I've been getting has been very conflicting. Believe it or not this video has reignited that part of me to trust in myself and not be afraid to mess up. Thank you for being you Kaice
I am enjoying your journey. I have wanted to get locs for years now and I am still on the fence about it. I am glad you are sharing your journey. I am getting a tattoo on my hand Soon and wondered have you had to get a touch up already? I just wonder if hand and finger tattoos fade away quickly???
People really do place a lot of rules on locs but doing what works for you will ALWAYS be best. Your locs look beautiful. And tbh your first retwist you did yourself looks good. Great video!
I would have most definitely washed my hair at 2 weeks too (I’d have to soothe my itchy scalp). You did an excellent job with your retwist. Thank you so much for sharing. Currently growing my hair out and considering locs. Now living vicariously through you. Much love to you and Frenchie.
I love your journey and you did such a great job! I’ve been back and forth with what I wnat to do with my hair but I feel I have the same hair texture as you only I have thinner edges but I’m def gonna try this and see how it goes. I had my mom actually do mines and she did an amazing job but I washed it out and combed my hair like an idiot lol
Thank you for sharing this, I started my locs so many times on my own. I did not trust myself or my journey. I paid someone 1100 to do my hair and they did what they wanted to do and tried to convince me that it was best. Now I need to trust myself going forward.
yes you do like doing you never mess up that i see ah ha you have messed up. i love your ambition. but yeah we also learn by our mistakes. then when you want a moment of relaxing go to shop, otherwise you got this i had no doubt. you did a marvelous job
I’ve been loc’d 4 years and i definitely can say there are no rules. Everybody’s journey is unique 🫶🏽 I suffered from an itchy scalp at first, so I washed more frequently or did scalp cleanses. Loving watching your journey 💜
Omg we are on the exact same time line! I just got locs too, a tad over a week ago !! Similar length to yours too 🥹 yay definitely subscribing so i can follow along !
We gon come back to these first few videos in a couple years like "omg I remember when she started her loc journey🥺🥺"
omggg i can’t wait lol 🤭❤️
On my second set of locs. Water definitely helps with the locking process. Don't let them tell you different.

Try a stocking cap on while washing. Helps with the frizz and you can still scrub your scalp like crazy
You did a good job on the retwist! I've been locd for a year, and its one of the best decisions I've made. ♥️
You’re excitement has me excited for you🤗

When I loced my hair I washed them every week by the time I reached 3 months they were already budding
This 🔥🔥🔥 I’m getting my Retwist this Saturday a day before my Nephew birthday
Thank you for sharing this, I started my locs so many times on my own. I did not trust myself or my journey. I paid someone 1100 to do my hair and they did what they wanted to do and tried to convince me that it was best. Now I need to trust myself going forward.
1100 is robbery. Were there extensions involved??
Happy Monday 😊

Are these your first set?
U look so gorgeous 😊
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
GOD Bless✝️🙏🏼❤️
They have some stuff to cleanse the scalp for locs. That way you don’t have to wash your locs so often
what is it called?
@@KaiceAleaTaliah Waajid Moisture Clenz and they also have a dry gel shampoo
This might sound weird but what's your height and weight I'm trying to lose weight and your the size I want to be???
It looks like it’s locing fast
I’ve been loc’d 4 years and i definitely can say there are no rules. Everybody’s journey is unique 🫶🏽 I suffered from an itchy scalp at first, so I washed more frequently or did scalp cleanses. Loving watching your journey 💜
Thanks for getting all deep, while retesting your locks🫂
