I agree that trying this on starter locs would be frustrating! I grew out my locs and then went back and freed the ends after the loc was fully formed (2 - 3 yrs), probably much easier!
I have a friend with more loose hair than locs and she twists the loose hair for each indy loc before she washes it. I swoon over her hair all the time!
I have indian hair locs 6years now and my hair loced naturally with straight ends and some also stubs on its own but i love the straight/curly ends i just love the boho/ gyspy dreads look so yea thats my locs.
i have black and asian heritage so i have coarse, 2c hair. i did small braids and left the ends unbraided. i’ve had locs for 2 years now and it’s the decision i’ve ever made.

I'm glad I'm 3 years in. I tried combing out my locs just now and used gel and finger coil and it was cute. Gonna do 1-2 inches on all the ends
