      Reminds me of the line in Wick 3 where he says "you didn't have to kill him" and she says "he killed my dog" and then wick says "I get it"
      The dog and his car were the whole setup for first 2 movies then the repercussions of his actions in those to the 3rd and 4th. Still a great series. Hoping the 4th delivers without going too "wire fu"

      People are very attached to their dogs, loving them as much as would a child. There's a number of movies in which the the death of a dog spurs the hero to finally abandon all restraint and punish the villain. In building up the evilness of a villain in a story, it's terrible that they do horrible, illegal crimes, but the final straw that really condemns them to their fate is harming an innocent. Even among the roughest of bad guys, there's still an understood idea that you don't harm defenseless innocents like the old, the frail, women, children, and especially dogs who in their good natured innocence would be friendly to anyone. Any criminal who shows himself willing to harm defenseless innocents as marked himself deserving of death.
      In the movie "Open Range" the character played by Robert Duvall is an old, stoic, tough cowboy who has probably seen and endured near everything imaginable. When he's reciting all of the evil acts the villain has committed, it's not until the end of the list, when he says the villain "killed our dog" that his voice cracks, he gets choked up, and is struggling to hold his emotions in check and not cry.

    • @DoremiFasolatido1979
      @DoremiFasolatido1979 2 роки тому +10

      I'd generally consider Marcus an anti-hero as well, just not the main protagonist of this story. Might be others, but few were on-screen enough in this first installment to make the call...and I don't want to risk spoiling the later movies for anyone. Not that I give a shit about spoilers at all, let alone years later, but I can't stand whiny bastards who complain about spoilers.

      @@phellips10 You literally just defined "anti-hero".
      An antihero (sometimes spelled as anti-hero) or antiheroine is a main character in a story who lacks conventional heroic qualities and attributes, such as idealism, courage, and morality. Although antiheroes may sometimes perform actions that are morally correct, it is not always for the right reasons, often acting primarily out of self-interest or in ways that defy conventional ethical codes.

    Those are gold coins of the underworld. You get those for each deed you deal with. Each and every piece is a life taken, a life hunted down and delivered as requested by the job. To trade these in is essentially to trade in deeds for favors, such as cleanup, staying in neutral safe hotels, and gaining the ultimate tech and weapons in the armory.
    Also you gotta remember:
    The bounty might seem small to kill a dangerous man like Wick, but it’s not USD currency that’s the bounty. It’s the Gold Coins.
    You can live a life of luxury with Two million Gold pieces
    Also if you look back, John Wick’s gold coin STACHE is bigger than VIGGO’s!! A FREAKING MOB BOSS!!!
