When WE all leave the office and commute home, again, in our cars with the A/C flat out to get cooler, then we arrive home and the first thing we do, or sometimes the second thing, is plug our little electric cars in to recharge, and then turn on the HOME A/C, so intern, this is putting a LARGER than normal from past years on the grid, NOT having the power to charge/use stuff at home. SO, How the Bloody heck will the power companies be able to cope with this EXTRA demand on the power grid!!!!! It's NOT rocket science, and I'm a retired ex-soldier/driver but I just want to know, how will the Power Companies handle this extra drain on the grid. It's only going to get HIGHER AND WORSE as if we start to purchase new electric cars, it's going to put such a massive drain on the power grid. So you see, it will ONLY get worse. And in your report/video, the Tesla company and OTHER auto companies get these HUGE REBATE'S building more electric cars. The prices will ONLY GO UP, not down, WE don't get the rebates, the bloody car industries do, NOT US. Thanks Teddy.

It’s not to avoid taxes. It’s to make a payment structure where pay is completely tied to the success of the company. Stock isn’t guaranteed money unless the company performs. Other auto CEOs take pay + stock.

People bet on Tesla, because they are far ahead in their technology development. Electric cars are cheaper with maintenance cost, so the high price of the Tesla car is cheaper for frequent drivers than any other nice and safe car, as long as one can get a cheap loan and insurance.
Also, Tesla isn't the only electric car manufacturer in the industry. The invention of affordable electric cars predates the company itself. Elon Musk, who is basically worshipped in his cult of too-stupid-to-understand-science-but-still-wanna-act-like-a-KnowItAll-arsehole, is a mere show-man. He doesn't even have an engineering degree and yet people think he is some kind of genuis that designs rockets. He is an investor and a hype-man just like any other billionaire (except a few philanthropists like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet) and is a huge dickhead.

The Tesla breaking the test gear is actually genuinely concerning. The purpose of safety testing is not just to make sure that the driver is safe but that they're also not a danger to others. It's disappointing that the USA seems to go for such a backward individualistic approach to traffic safety... Imagine a car that broke safety testing gear crashing into you, your car, a commercial building (sadly this is surprisingly common in North America) or breaking through a barrier. Crumple zones are essential to safety in car on car collisions.
Perhaps, but that's the challenge for other auto makers. What you're suggesting is that Tesla should make their cars less safe, less robust.... And that makes no sense at all...

That has absolutely nothing to do with a "challenge for other automakers", the whole reason Tesla claims their car is so safe is exactly because the frunk has no engine and therefore is an ideal crumple zone. The driver cage is the only thing that is suppose to be robust and rigid, anything else is suppose to absorb the shock. Digging deeper into this I've found out that the testing rig that supposedly broke was the one that was supposed to test the force that the roof can handle which supposedly failed to exercise any force above "4G". So fortunately nothing that makes the car particularly unsafe for other's. In case you're curious, the 2016 model S made it to a STRW (strength to weight ratio) of 4.33 Check it out on this video: ua-cam.com/video/_Jq8a6FV1-c/v-deo.html It's a Good score but there are cars with a higher ratio as you can see (this might have more to do with the enormous weight of the Model S though). But honestly the article's title was more of a misrepresentatuon for the testing rig failing to deliver the force necessary to break the roof frame rather than the Tesla breaking the testing rig. So this turns out to be just another example of bad journalism rather than questionable car safety.

@NelloJam I hit a center divider (Solid concrete) at 50mph. This is with a 2002 Cavalier. The car was 2 feet shorter. I survived (Obviously) with a couple bent ribs and some bruising. The crumpling of the car saved my life. Car crumpling dramatically reduces the Neuton's Law impact physics (Relative to a sudden stop). Hence, no bones broken.

fun fact this is not true. when you open the phone app it actually wakes the car up then. when you walk up to the car and pull the handle, that wakes up the car. and it is only when sentry mode is active that the car stays awake 24/7, although this wastes abt 45 miles in 24 hours because the car is on that whole time.

Its the same reason why diesel cars are more expensive than petrol (liquified and purified petroleum fuel). Diesel costs less than petrol.
Also, Tesla isn't the only electric car manufacturer in the industry. The invention of affordable electric cars predates the company itself.

The Tesla breaking the test gear is actually genuinely concerning. The purpose of safety testing is not just to make sure that the driver is safe but that they're also not a danger to others.
It's disappointing that the USA seems to go for such a backward individualistic approach to traffic safety...
Imagine a car that broke safety testing gear crashing into you, your car, a commercial building (sadly this is surprisingly common in North America) or breaking through a barrier.
Crumple zones are essential to safety in car on car collisions.
Perhaps, but that's the challenge for other auto makers. What you're suggesting is that Tesla should make their cars less safe, less robust.... And that makes no sense at all...

The crumple zones are actually inherent to safety. That has absolutely nothing to do with a "challenge for other automakers", the whole reason Tesla claims their car is so safe is exactly because the frunk has no engine and therefore is an ideal crumple zone.
The driver cage is the only thing that is suppose to be robust and rigid, anything else is suppose to absorb the shock.
Digging deeper into this I've found out that the testing rig that supposedly broke was the one that was supposed to test the force that the roof can handle which supposedly failed to exercise any force above "4G".
So fortunately nothing that makes the car particularly unsafe for other's.
In case you're curious, the 2016 model S made it to a STRW (strength to weight ratio) of 4.33

It's a Good score but there are cars with a higher ratio as you can see (this might have more to do with the enormous weight of the Model S though).
But honestly the article's title was more of a misrepresentatuon for the testing rig failing to deliver the force necessary to break the roof frame rather than the Tesla breaking the testing rig.
So this turns out to be just another example of bad journalism rather than questionable car safety.

@NelloJam I hit a center divider (Solid concrete) at 50mph. This is with a 2002 Cavalier. The car was 2 feet shorter. I survived (Obviously) with a couple bent ribs and some bruising. The crumpling of the car saved my life.
Car crumpling dramatically reduces the Neuton's Law impact physics (Relative to a sudden stop). Hence, no bones broken.
