Hey Aron, I live in China and Ninebot is actually a really big brand. They have their own concept stores and everything, and that unicycle seems to be a big seller. I have seen people ride them INSIDE tube stations and on the streets among the regularly scooter traffic.
There's no question that Chinese companies can and do produce quality stuff. The issue is the inconsistency of regulation that makes their worst more dangerous and likely to get out into the public.
2:43 - I believe Fujitsu pioneered this thing like a decade ago when they started to put the same fuzzy logic that was in rice cookers into stuffed animals. They were trying to create a simulation of cats and dogs for facilities that did not allow them. They found that certain patients responded well with interactions with pets and so they wanted to replace that with robotic ones. Integrated with touch sensors and motors they made a robot seal that was able to move and respond to the presence of someone touching. It is quite interesting and there's been quite a few scientific papers written about these seals.
Here in Finland some nursing homes have robot pets for the elderly. No worries about allergies and there is no risk that someone treats an animal badly because they have memory issues or some other health problems.

Didn't know watching a tech video can be so fun. Amazing work. Can't even imagine how much time and effort was needed to make this video. Thank you !!
