Honestly, how is this not a fireable offense? Dude literally antagonized a player UNTIL he did something that allowed him to throw him out...like, this is game changing stuff. There are millions of dollars at steak each game. This is crazy...I get that Madbum is quite the Madbum, but I honestly wouldn't have put up with that either, what a joke.

I mean sure it was weird, but that player did it to himself. They were already parting ways. All he had to do was keep walking or even just ask him why he's staring at him so weird. But no we don't expect grown men to control themselves at all anymore. Right or wrong being stared at all weird doesn't make it okay to go off on the ump.

If an ump stared at me like that I wouldn’t tell them anything and not give them a reason to toss me out of the game. Obviously, Bumgarner was in the wrong for telling that ump that he would f him up but still MLB needs to do something about some of these umps that probably get a quota for having a certain number of ejections each year.

I think the worst part of this is the immediate toss. Doing some creepy shit in a sad attempt to intimidate someone who got upset at your colleague's mistakes looks bad enough, but tossing him as soon as he even questions the weird intimidation tactics is so much worse. The fact that that umpire was trying to justify it because he didn't say a word is absolutely absurd. He knew he was antagonizing Madison he knew he was going to get a reaction from Mad Bum. I don't know how this dude has a job still. And as a result of this every time umpires screw up now players are getting in the umpire's face and they are letting them have it. And of course we know the sorry excuse for an MLB commissioner is going to do literally nothing about this because he doesn't care. And if they won't fire this umpire he needs to be suspended without pay and he needs to talk to Madison bumgarner directly apologize to his face and admit that he did wrong. And if he doesn't want to comply with that then he can continue to be suspended without pay.

Yeah they gotta do something about this... So an umpire can weirdly bait a player into asking him "what the fuck are you doing?", and then he can throw the player out? And even if you say they are gonna review this umpire's conduct and possibly discipline him, that doesn't help the team that got it's starting pitcher ejected from the game... There has to be some kind of mechanic implemented into baseball where an appeal of an ejection can be made right there on the spot and possibly overturned, or maybe something similar to basketball where you get like a 'technical', kinda like a warning, instead of an immediate ejection... I'll admit, Bumgarner is a baby sometimes, but I gotta say, this time I would have done the same thing he did... That umpire is a freak, just weirdly feeling Bumgarner up, 🤣🤣

Adding some sort of a technical to baseball would be a creative solution. At current there's just warnings, which have no real consequence on the game. It could be implemented to where the team loses their challenge if you don't to impact what happens on the field.

This is a prime example of something that I have believed for a while. There are umpires who are looking for(or creating) excuses to throw out players, especially hot heads like Madbum. This guy knew Baumgarner would be giving him crap for the next 4-6 innings, so he decided put a stop to it early, which is not his job. If he doesn't have a thick skin for dealing with angry millionaires playing with balls, then he needs to find another line of work.

@Brian Dawson be clearly was baiting him just to do anything and use it as an excuse to throw him out of the game

He wasn't giving THAT umpire crap. The home plate umpire, if he's experienced, can deal with Bumgarner in later innings if the showing up stuff continues.
