Thank you, thank you. I just bought a Seth Thomas Sonora 4 bell Westminster chime case mantle clock. Say that 3 times fast!!! LOL It just arrived today, and I have been trying to sync the chimes to the time on the clock, the time on the clock to the chimes, you name it. I found your video and Voila!! My gosh I think I've got it!! "TIME" will tell but so far so good. Thank you so much. PS...it just struck the 3/4 hour and then successfully did all 4 movements and struck ten o'clock. I am so thrilled. Thanks to you!!!
So, my mantel clock runs fine but it only chimes at the hour, but not correct. For example, at 1:00 will play the first quarter chime, then at 2:00 it will play the second quarter chime, then at 3:00 it will play the third quarter chime. Then at 4:00 it will play the 2 o’clock chime. Any suggestions?? Thanks.
My only issue is my clocks strikes one too many strikes on the hour eg 8'o'clock strokes 9 o'clock and so on Any suggestions how to put this right. Mine is a Hamilton Wheatland 340-020 mechanism 1973. I would appreciate any help please. Thanks
The hour hand is a pressure fit so move the hour hand to the time it strikes. For example; if it strikes 9 at 8 move the hour hand to 9 without using the minute hand. Then use the minute hand though the quarter hours until it strikes again. At that point it should read and strike 10 o'clock. Now take the minute hand a turn it clockwise until your clock is set on the right time. Don't worry about the chime it will self correct within an hour. Most likely you moved the hour hand to the wrong position while you were setting the clock and didn't notice. Let me know how it works out. Jim
@@JRCLOCKER Wow! Thanks so much. This worked like a dream. First time I've heard it strike the proper hour in ages. Really appreciate the very helpful explanation. You're a star! 👍❤️
I have this clock and it runs fast. I have moved the movement as far as possible to the NEG makes. It still runs at least 15 min per hour fast. Please help!!!!
You would have to permanently disable the chimes by letting it wind right down, and only winding the clock itself, and the hour if you were ok with just the hour, otherwise let the hour run down as well You always have the option of winding them up again when you want them back, but no option to temporarily turn chimes off in the vintage clock. I believe some of the more modern ones have a lever to turn the chimes off though which is located to the left of the clock face itself. Hope this helps

So I have a grandfather Westminister chiming clock and it's OK to move the hands backward?
Not sure which clockkey have but you should be able to turn hands backwards. If it gives you any resistance just stop.

Most likely it needs bushing work and new springs.
Hii Can someone please tell me which is the chime winder out of the three I want to wind the clock but not the chime Many thanks
The clock has three winding holes. The one in the center is the one that runs the time. The other to run the strike and the time.
Just ordered myself one. How do you get it to stop chiming overnight?
Unfortunately if it does not have a night shut off you can’t shut it off.

Can you please give me the clock please?
