    Really enjoyed watching this thank you. I have just been given a unicorn clock with the same movement. Mine was made in 62. Thanks Mark

    I recently did the exact same thing swapping the movement out on a Howard Miller clock I have here at the house. One thing I learned from watching your video, I need to get one of those wire bending tools and a set of those spacers. That would definitely make it easier when I have to do things like this again. Nice video! Thanks for posting it.

    Transfer the bracket positions by tracing them onto a sheet of paper. Then you can put the new movement on the paper and line brackets up perfectly.

    One additional question please : I’m used to the swinging pendulums. What is this bracket/mantle clock horizontal type pendulum style called ? Does it have a different name ?

    Fascinating. So glad I've found your channel. I recently purchased a 2000 Hermele mantle clock from ebay here in the UK. Your tips are excellent. My wife complains the Westminster chimes are too loud. I have laid a thin piece of kitchen tissue under the hammers on the chime bars. Works a treat. Much quieter, unless there is a proper method that you know of? 😄

    Hello. Excellent video ! I bought a clock similar to this off EBay but that horizontal circular like pendulum won’t stay ticking. I have wound the clock and I take my finger And swing it towards the plus side and it starts ticking but then after a minute or 2 stops. Can you tell me what to do ?

    Would you mind showing us how to tune a set of random chime rods that didn't arrive as a set? My clock has 2 broken rods and I got some new rods that need to be installed and tuned. How do I determine what the proper notes should be? And what is the best way to cut these to the right lengths?

    Hi! I recently purchased a a forestville mantle clock with this exact movement. It appears to keep time well but the hour hand is misaligned backwards (e.g. the clock will strike the hour, but the hour hand shows approximately quarter to the hour). I attempted to remove the hour hand to adjust the placement, but it has proven to be very difficult to remove by hand, unlike in your video where the hands easily popped off. Any suggestions on why the hand might be stuck and how to remove it?

    • @JRCLOCKER
      @JRCLOCKER  4 місяці тому

      The hour hand is just pressure fitted on to the shaft, so you can move it to the hour the clock is chiming.

    Do these New works need to be oiled before installation? If not, would it be a generally good idea anyway?

    • @JRCLOCKER
      @JRCLOCKER  6 місяців тому

      They do not need to be oiled, but generally oiling them before installation can be a good idea.

    • @TheVidCheesey
      @TheVidCheesey 4 місяці тому

      I recommend oiling them because you don’t know how long they have been lying horizontal.
