I agree - it echoes the work of the late John Barry who composed the great Bond scores. But overall I thought Eric Serra's score for Goldeneye was a big disappointment.
Brosnan was in many ways the perfect Bond, charming, sophisticated, has a playful side to him, but also ruthless and deadly when needed to be. He also looks pretty much exactly like Flemming described. It's just a shame that he was lumped with mostly mediocre, or in Die Another Day's case, terrible movies. At least he got to shine with Goldeneye, which might still be my favorite Bond film to this day.
"And what rank to you hold with the motor vehicles department?" "....Commander" I love it whenever we are reminded that Bond was first and foremost a British Naval Officer.
Bond’s obituary in Skyfall names him as ‘Commander James Bond, CMG; RN’. He doesn’t use the honorific, just as M isn’t addressed as ‘Lieutenant-Colonel Mallory’, but he still holds that rank.
There are a frw scenes throughout the movies when we see him in the uniform. For the Brosnan era, I think the only one is when he meets Jack Wade in _Tomorrow Never Dies_ .
Goldeneye 27 years ago. What great years had passed away. Hope there's will be another great years and opportunities to all of us the next 27 years ahead.
Brosnan is the perfect James Bond. I had such a crush on him when I was a kid. I loved him in Remingston Steele. Yes im ancient, but i was very small when that was out...lol
Pierce brosnan in goldeneye should be what casino royale was supposed to be. They should've made casino royale settings as it was (1940s to 1950s era plus Cold War theme)
On Top Gear They joked that a old Aston Martin DB5 Would not keep up with that Ferrari, Even though the film effectively said it was a kit car copy, I have seen two on You Tube, One was a Toyota MR2 And the other a USA Kit car
The Bond films lost alot of their soul after Brosnan's era. The playful humour vanished. Imagine a female villain like her now. It just wouldn't happen.
we definitely need a fresh take to Bond films. They're too artsy and P.C these days. It's funny, Martin Campbell always reboots the series, and then it goes downhill
while i do enjoy nowadays bond, but i do miss female villains like Xenia. Most of the times Daniel´s female villains have so much potential, yet, they are discard like nothing. Valenka, Severine, Luccia, could had been so much, but nobody could understand what to do with them. If Xenia was pull up today bonds, well, she would only have one scene.
Indeed, he almost never got the Bond part because the Bond movie producers had to let him go after the network issues. But like a fair tale after 8 years it came to him. He became Bond ua-cam.com/video/bIfANFxmLLY/v-deo.html
Sometimes I am just wondering what if Bond killed Natalyia and made Onatopp to be not only his lover, but also his partner. What will happen to that world
The girl in the black and gold dress visible over the shoulder of Xeni Onnatop was a competition winner from Dalton's tome and was finally offered a non speaking part in this film.
Friend ask me how he can be better with women. I recommended Bond movies (Only Pierce though) looking back 10 years later. Still the same effect. My favorite Bond ever
A stunning performance by Janssen as the deadly and beautiful Onatopp. Confident, playful, intelligent, all emphasised by a fantastic, haunting score. It would have been great if her character presented this vibe more throughout the movie in tandem with her psychotic tendencies. Sadly the scene doesn't reach the height it could have if Bond wasn't delivering stupid one liners the entire time. Really? One rises to meet a challenge? Shame!
Baccarat. He loses the first game but re gambles his original amount by calling suivi. The banker nods because he is next to the banker in the second game.
Man the soundtrack is amazing on this scene
Bro I said the same thing; starting from when the Aston Martin driving down the narrow road

Pierce is very sexy. But my #1 james bond is still sir sean connery
Actually, Dalton and Craig were the closest to Ian Fleming's Bond.
@@dantecrailman8861 You know Bond in the novel have dark hair right?
@@sonnyhuynh007 In terms of characterization, I mean. Probably should have written that.
James Bond charming sophisticated secret agent shaken not stirred 😂😂😂😂

Same exact position Ian Fleming had. James Bond is almost an auto-biography

Pierce and Famke were great in this film. Sean also did a great job as 006. One of the best bond films made.
Shelby Mustang i agree
I disagree the spy who loved me is the best ever made
I disagree Die Another Day is the best ever made!
Shelby Mustang Fuck Yeah Goldeneye!
Thunderball is the best
Thanks a lot James Bond Nation. This is brilliant
One rises to meet a challenge
3:14.
Bond's face just as he signals the waiter to get their drinks always gets me laughing. 😂
Whenever I watch Pierce as Bond now I keep waiting to see Mrs. Doubtfire walk into the scene and insult him.
Bond starts chocking with an olive from the martini and Ms Doubtfire comes running to save him
It was a drive-by fruiting!
help is on the way dear!!!
Xenia really did keep a powertool in the bedroom.
@@ThomasWilliams89 ROFL
This scene has probably the biggest sexual tension in bond history.
Indeed!
Brosnan is the perfect James Bond. I had such a crush on him when I was a kid. I loved him in Remingston Steele. Yes im ancient, but i was very small when that was out...lol
He wanted to leave the show but NBC denied him the chance to play.007
I like this scene with the music in the background.
2:36 and that’s when we all knew she was gonna be a villain
It could just be my age when this came out, but I feel like this movie was what the franchise always wanted to be, and has since tried to recapture
good god, she's almost too much. She looks like she commands the whole room from that poker table.
Baccarat actually.
That music score with the dialogue is beautiful!
The woman behind Xenia in the black and gold dress won a contest to be in a Bond movie for that role
Pierce brosnan in goldeneye should be what casino royale was supposed to be. They should've made casino royale settings as it was (1940s to 1950s era plus Cold War theme)
I have a fantasy of meeting a woman like Xenia on a cruise ship one night
Call Me Gaffer i hope how she murders her men isn't in that fantasy
Call Me Gaffer lol be safe! wahahaha
miamivicepastels83 well thats your definition of safe sex.
Beware the deadly embrace, though.
Beautiful but deadly
I love the soft music in the back ground...Nice...
Missing is Moneypenny's "I trust you'll stay " _on-a-topp_ " of things?"
Even the counterfeit ones, classic....
I love how he slide it in there lol

Bond smile at the end. :) Little details that make this film great.
Very nice theme "We share the same passions"
3:19 Brosnan hands down gave the absolute BEST delivery of that iconic line. Even Connery is put to shame there.
the way he stated his line was so smooth and transitional that it works in just about any scene.
Brosnan was a great Bond. It's just a shame Hollywood didn't give him enough quality material to work with. But we'll always love Goldeneye.
Indeed, he almost never got the Bond part because the Bond movie producers had to let him go after the network issues. But like a fair tale after 8 years it came to him. He became Bond

What a style dis man has... flawless for Bond character.. i was sad when he was replaced..but show must go on...

I like how most gadgets he uses we got on our smart phones
Yeah like that laser on my phone, I love cutting through shit with it.
This movie was lit🔥🔥
3:19 Best Pierce Brosnan line ever
Seriously, I would probably have sold my soul for Famke Janssen in her prime. As Xenia and as the hot teacher in The Faculty, she was insanely hot.
onatop 03:24 amazing scene!
Fammke Janssen - now that's what I call a REAL "Bond Villainess"...!!
where is the cards number on this scene?? how can one tell the winner??
Onatopp about to break the admiral in. Half.
Sometimes I am just wondering what if Bond killed Natalyia and made Onatopp to be not only his lover, but also his partner. What will happen to that world
bond and Trevelyan would have another reason to hate each other!
+Kieran Duggan : Trevelyan would've been at least happy if Bond killed Natalya.
+Filipo Sooa ya but he'd lose Xenia
The Secret Service would have had NO trouble "squeezing" information out of the bad guys!! 😁😁
3:30 always cracks me up.J.B - 'Your accent, Georgian?'X.O - 'Very good, mr Bond. You been to Russia?'
Georgia is the name of a country that was in the Soviet Union.

What's the name of the instrumental song at the start of this and again at the poker table? it's beautiful

“Biatchhh”
The girl in the black and gold dress visible over the shoulder of Xeni Onnatop was a competition winner from Dalton's tome and was finally offered a non speaking part in this film.
Imagine if some fatso had won the competition 😅
the third passion could be taking risks or winning?
Smoking
Reminds me of the game a lot for some reason
it is my favorite bond girl in this movie
Hola. Alguien sabe donde se pueden ver las pelis de 007 subtituladas o dobladas al español?
Is there any truth to what he says about the license plates?
They do start with letters now, but seem to have started with numbers back then...
"Onatopp?" Lol
Soundtrack?
Mike Buff “we Share the same passions” Eric Serra
by far one of the best bonds
*"Straight up...with a twist."*
*BRAVO* *JAMES* *!!*

Saw this movie forever ago and I still don't know how baccarat works
I have no idea what's going on in that card game.
What card game are they playing?
Baccarat
Xenia On aTop the best Bond villain ever. Bond should get Brexit teared between the eyes. Shaken but not stirred. Of course.
I don't think Alec would even hook up with xenia. Too dangerous
Super move
This was back when she was young-er!
TheSocialDistorter she's still hot though
Pierce Brosnan the one and only real James Bond
i like her motoring/piloting and fighting

Greg Wise
why is that funny?
Matthew633 probably because they could both be confused for the same.
at last we me again for the last time for the first time!
so what was the third passion supposed to be that they shared...romance/sex?
sex
Typical. Then she goes off with another guy and promises it will be next weekend. The kind of tart I like.
But how did she know he had a passion for sex, when he never slept with her and they ve only just met twice.?
+sofwan he was clearly coming on to her.. that's why she was so excited to see him in the sauna cos she knew she was getting it
She's smoking so I presume cigars
