Great video brother. Are you familiar with the 2001-2003 immobilizer eeprom reading. It looks identical to the immobilizer that you brought out here 1:42 except it says immobilizer 3 on my version. And when. You take the board off it does not have the 8 leg eeprom on the reverse side like one board with a chip on it like 24cl02. This 2001-2003 caravan has been my arch nemesis for the last 5 years being a locksmith I just can’t seem to figure out how to edit the immobilizer data. Please help brother!!!
Hi, it seems that there are only a handful of companies doing the Skim delete. I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee with lost key. I have a replacement key barrel but need the Skim deleted. ( just from my original PCM ) Is that possible with any tool you know of that I can purchase ? I also wonder what in the car the PCM VIN is reconciled against ? Is it the BCM or the trans ECU or what ?
Very good video, thanks. Amazing how that scanner can retrieve that PIN number. I wanted to ask you, will that scanner be able to flash the pcm? Like changing the vin number when you get one from the junk yard . Im trying to find a scanner that can at least do those things . Thanks for any help.
Hello Robert! Thanks for your kind feedback. I haven't tried with Xtool yet. I know my Launch 431X pro will do it. Btw, how everything is going with your ECU repair?
@@PistonShack I’m trying to fix the tipm first. The pcm has been putting out codes normally. I really don’t think it’s the pcm . It’s my first pt cruiser I worked on so let’s see what happens. I have replaced the ignition switch and I haven’t been able to get the starter to turn so I’m thinking it can be the tipm. Everything lights up on the dash. Except for a no bus message. Any advice will be really appreciated, thanks.
@@PistonShack just bought the car. Salvaged the ignition switch and housing. Just needs new ignition cylinder and it coded to match my original keys. So I should be able to do that. It just needs a new immobilizer at this point. Can’t get dealer to do it u til after I get title switched to my name. If there’s any issues with that I won’t be able to get dealership to put a new immobilizer in and program it. Then I’ll be screwed unless I try to do something like you’ve done here. And I’d have to buy that scanner n everything and try to do it myself. Are you open to the idea of me sending a new immobilizer and the original to you and you do what you did here ??? That would be my last resort. Lol.
I did this a little different they tried to steal my van well i took old skeem that was broke out n my screen software in the new one hoplefully it works
One question, I have a bad skim module on 07 sebring, I pulled one from junkyard and have the key for it no ecm. I have the vin of the car where the skim module came from. My question is can Install the used/pulled skim and leave it disconnected, write the vin of the donor car on my pcm, plug the skim module so the key is transfered to ecm, and then write my car's vin back to the ecm? so everything is correct?
Hey F B! Ok, I see what is your issue. Well: 1. If you leave "junk yard skim" (any skim) disconnected vehicle won't start and run. 2. If you are going to use "junk yard skim" you have re-write the VIN from the donor car to your Sebring to make you engine start and run - because "JY SKIM" and your ECM will have VIN mismatch. 3. You can swap "JY SKIM" + "JY ECM" to your car then reprogram new keys. Later on you can re-write your vehicle VIN to "JY ECM" I can go that route but I would do exactly what I shown in my video. I think it will be faster and easier. Let me know how is your Sebring! Cheers!
@@PistonShack thanks for reply sorry if I'm not clear, want to know if I get a junkyard skim, write the junkyard 's car vin n my cars ecm, plug the jy skim, and then write back my original vin back to my ecm. I'm not getting another ecm it's my original one
Do you know who can program this for me? One dealership I’m at now said that they can’t with a used one. They said it has to be brand new. They are discontinued and my car hasn't ran for about a month
Yup, dealer won't ever program used modules. You can try to find local mechanics or lock smith to do programming. You always can get new one as well. I called local dealer last year they asked almost 300$ for new SKIM.
Thanks I appreciate this. Do I need the vin off a used one and what do you think about getting the ecu to be reprogrammed so it doesn't read the Skim anymore?
I found a locksmith service that will cut 2 new keys and flash a new skreem to make this "plug and play". They want $300 usd. 😱 No way on a van worth so little in value. Instead, I purchased a very cheap USB eeprom programmer with a chip clip for less than 15.00 as I don't have the programmer tools you have. This will allow me to read, write and modify most 23/25/93 and 95 chips. I can read, store the old code and rewrite it to a used immo.
On the chip there is 2 "posts" that the mess of wires in the ring part that broke off.. on the chip is those posts and the wires in the ring Connect to the post. Each wire to its own post... what if I solder a wire on and make the wire loop around the key hole like the piece used to b4 I broke it
wouldn't it be easier to pick up both the immobilizer and ECU (ECM) that are matched at a junk yard off same car and replace both them on the car you want running again?
Why couldn't you just on solder the chip out of the old one and put it in the new one? How can you figure out the code from the ECm and program it to another immobilizer?
A friend of mine has a 2005 Dodge Dakota somebody try to peel the column they broke the ignition switch up they broke the immobilizer I pretty much had to get a steering column from the junkyard with the same wiring as his it didn't have a key I got his original key and I'm not too sure what's going to have to be done to get this vehicle to start because his immobilizer was busted up destroyed am I going to have to go back and get the computer out of that truck that matches the immobilizer on that column and buy an ignition switch and have it coded to the immobilizer that's on that column? What's the best route for me to go because I had to remove the lock cylinder out of that column the immobilizer is intact not broken am I going to have to get to ECM or ECU out of the truck I got the column out of how would I have a key program to that immobilizer what's the best route for me to go
It only works with the xtool devices or can I use the adapter with any Key programmer? If I re-do the same way you did using the adapter but with a different key programmer device that does the same work, it will work?
I am not sure exactly with any other readers but theoretically chip adapter should work with other eeprom key reader/program devices. It probably will work, let me know how did it work out. I think it worth trying.
Do you think if I remove carefully the Eprom part where the main data is from the inside of the immobilizer, could I replace it into the other? Do you think if done right it will work?
Does anybody know if this procedure will also work on a 2010 Dodge Caliber 2.0, that uses a simular key as the one in this video? I know the WCM part numbers are different, just wonder if it would work. Thanks in advance.

@@PistonShack finding the PIN code for these vehicles is very tough. You have to pay money for all these services to get somebody to get the code for you or buy one of those $1,000 units or more expensive to get a PIN code.
