I like quite a few. I hate that I kill them! I've got 1 thriving. If I win this one..I might try another. I think I struggle with the fuzzy leaf ones most.
I think a lot of people are misinformed about them. For a while, possibly my whole life until recently, I had always thought of Begonias as being those generic, nondescript, bedding or "cottage" garden flowers, the _Begonia semperflorens_ (aka wax begonias), but clearly there are far more fancier types than basic ones! 🤣 I always associated begonias with the basic types you see in public landscaping arrangements or front yard borders. But the majority of Rex, tuberous, cane, rhizomatous, etc. begonias are truly NOT cottage garden plants, you know, unless you have a cottage in like, Colombia, Florida, Hawaii or Ecuador or somewhere. Lol.
Lol! Our tastes are so different. I never met a begonia I didn't like. They're the most incredible, colorful and beautiful plants and when you see them in person some of them are actually metallic. These plants are glittery!!! It amazes me every time I look at them.
Very sorry to hear that you are not enjoying Begonias so much. Next to Aroids, Begonias are my 2nd favorite family of plants. Why have they all thrown their leaves off-center? Nearly every other kind of plant goes for near-perfect bilateral symmetry. But Begonias have succeeded with "lopsided" in five continents! I find that skewed leaf plan appealing, and then they do many other fascinating things with that plan; curly-q's, wavy or jagged edges, hairy, waxy, and may I mention the colors?!!?

Honestly, Kaylee, I'm right there with you on begonias. I think they're neat and I understand why people like them, but they don't do much for me. I'd love to see a Hoya rare plant index. There are SO many cool ones. Easy ones, common ones, and super rare and hard to grow ones. Fragrant vs unscented, fuzzy flowers, vs waxy flowers, fuzzy vs waxy leaves, etc.
One of the greatest collections of begonia I’ve ever seen is owned by Amazon (yes, the online shop taking over our lives) they have a gorgeous three story spherical greenhouse. They dozens of species of rare begonia. Plus philodendron, peperomia, and other tropical plants. Hey Kaylee, just a note that the darthvaderiana is endangered in the wild due to human cultivation so maybe something to note before you post these types of videos!

I had to step in here and throw my two cents in. I agree that some plants are endangered and this is most definitely an issue, however, Kaylee is in NO WAY encouraging people to go out and poach these plants, or to buy these plants even. She is simply telling people that these exist. It is a buyer's responsibility to decide to make the right decision on whether or not to purchase a plant such as these. Just saying . Let's be fair.

Begonia it's not easy to grow, even I live in the tropical country. I'm glad most people not really like to have them so the price to buy won't skyrocket. Great vlog! ♥
I have recently had a breakthrough putting rex begonias under a grow light instead of by window and for some reason they are all flourishing and the most ideal colors. Killed all rex begonias before I tried this

I don't really like begonias tooo much, but I'm trying to open my heart to them because of their huge range in leaf designs. They seem to have a dramatic streak to them - - something that also reminds me of ferns 😂
I think I figured out why I don't like Begonia's. So many of them remind of some bacteria or something like that I would see under a slide in my Biology class.
Loved the video! I only own two Begonias... The Begonia Maculata Wightii and Begonia Red Kiss. The Red Kiss is by far one of my favorite plants! It’s absolutely STUNNING! It has a bright metallic red leaf with black centers and edges. New leaves emerge with a metallic pinkish green hew and mature to the amazing red color. It’s a Rex Begonia so it’s not difficult to grow in the home. If you’ve not seen one I highly recommend your look into one. I love mine! Don’t know that it’s a rare one though.

As a begonia lover i feel like you definitely covered it well i will say there are sooo many different types of begonias that it would probably be a very long video if you were to cover every type of begonia but there are definitely a lot with fun patterns but I'm sure begonia's are definitely a plant where you either love them or hate them or even have one but aren't sure about whether or not you really love it
Kaylee please don't do Hoyas this year. I don't have the budget for it. I'll save up next year and the moment the list comes out I'll go get em before they run out! Lol!
begonia are not my fav by a long shot as well, but looking at them irl its like you can see the individual cells. Each cell looks like its filled with water and this gives it an iridescent, glimmery kind of look, even the common begonia rex varieties. Also, sometimes, what in pictures looks like mint or white, looks a shiny silver irl.
inb4 all the begonia experts swoop in and nit-pick about hybrids and such ;) Honestly, I didn't expect you to do begonias anytime soon and I'm glad you did! I thought I hated Begonia until I started gazing upon a few compulse-buy, couldn't find anything great at the plant shop rex begonias which had started taking off in my house a mo th or so after I brought them home. Escargot was one of them, and some other spiral purple and silver variety, and I realized they are the most exciting and satisfying plant family to collect. You can alter their appearance to suit you depending on light and bri g out the most ideal colors and shapes, and the variety is endless. I thought I hated begonias until I had a bunch to sit and appreciate long enough. Now they are easily my favorite sort. Little Brother Montgomery is my PRIZED possession lol. Should have featured that for a palmate variety that looks like something out of an 80s glam metal band or something, or maybe a David Bowie video.
I'd love to see pipers, maybe aglonema, syngonium! I also love how you did this video even though the plants just weren't for you. I appreciate that. It's funny how we all jive with different plants. :)
I have a room with low light so in order to add some contrast I added 3 Begonia's into my little world of plants. I collect cobalt blue pots for all my plants and their look compliments the blue. :)
I have the cane begonia bug. They are sssooooo beautiful. Most of the rex ones also don't do much for me, but omg those cane begonia species and cultivars. Amazing.
I love your channel but was sad to hear the Pavonina hate! They are great little plants with a charm of their own when they aren’t dying. Glad begonias aren’t for you, hopefully it will keep them undervalued so I can buy more! Love love your videos especially the rare plant indexes! Keep up the wonderful work. Make up on point as usual 😊
I am not a Begonia girl either but I did find a few pretty ones on your list, we shall see what I decide to do if they ended up being sold on my local garden centers ^^ . I would to see some RPI about Hoyas, Aglaonemas, Homalomenas, Syngoniums and Jewel Orchids :)
I've got the begonia Silver Jewel and the Maori Haze and I love them. The maori was the first plant I picked up when I was getting into plants. Its so pretty. And my silver jewel is big, fluffy and volumptious and I love it.
Found a begonia breakdance at a local nursery and had to snap it up. Mine doesn't have such long stems as the one in the picture. It's growing in the normal begonia bushy pattern. I absolutely love it.
Im just now starting to like Begonias and its only Rex hybrids that i truly enjoy. Im just obsessed with the variety in colors that they are producing now a days and how the leaves are so different looking. Some have a swirled center, some don't. Some have crimped edging on all the leaves, Some don't The variety is endless and i feel like begnoia offer so many options for people. If you are into bonsai, there are about a couple hundred variety that have the potential to be turned into bonsai. If you love a color combo that doesn't have blue in it, i bet it exists currently in a rex begonia hybrid. Steve's Leaves is a great distributor and has TONS of videos covering all the plants they have to sell. Logee's is another favorite of mine for them. If you love black and red, they have swirls, spots, and shard patterns. If you are a fan of silver foliage, there are probably a hundred variety of combos with silver included. I currently own a Rex "Jurassic Jr" "Arctic Twist" hybrid and a Rex "China Curl" on the way. The China curl has an almost burgundy and silvery pink swirl pattern plus it flowers unlike a lot of hybrids. Ive had the Jurassic twist for less than a month and its already produced so many new leaves, each one different from the last in its color way. I'm just obsessed with watching them come in and change colors every day as they get bigger
I'm also more for ferns and pipers than begonias. And this confirmed it. But a video from you is always a highlight and I like the rare plant index format.
Awesome! I love begonias I think they’re beautiful, I am hesitant to get them because I don’t think I’m ready to commit to that kind of humidity! Though I do have a Rex which I regret getting but surprisingly seems to be happy as Larry(not sure why Larry’s so upbeat). I would love to see a Hoya index! My favourite genus of all!
I love the maculata, batwings, u-641, amphioxus and the pteridiformis so I will keep an eye out for which ever one i can find, thank you so much, I just love your program and the way you deliver
I’m with you in begonia- I have one angel wing that for some reason is flourishing, go figure. I can appreciate their uniqueness but they generally look too ragged for me 🤣
As a begoniac thought this index was well done...my collection differs quite a bit but have seen many of those you showcased...look forward to your next rare plant index...think euphorbias might be a good one😁😁🤗
I did begonias in the 1980s when I had the ideal growing conditions for them. Now I love the dark/black begonias - not Goth more freedom/rebellion from conventional. Yes! We need a rare plant index for ferns. I have moved away from soft lacy ferns to ferns like the blue star fern, the crocodile fern (native to Australia!) and the crested birds nest fern.
I did notice you sounding a little under the weather, I hope you don't end up getting sick! agree with ya on the begonia front by the way, they don't do too much for me
Unsure if anyone has mentioned it here, but in the state I live in (Victoria, Australia) we have a town that has a yearly begonia festival! Ballarat is a famous gold rush town here that is also pretty famous for it's begonia festival. You won't just see the ones with incredible leaves you'll also find the amazing glouring varieties too. If you ever come to Australia around that time it's worth checking out!
Many lovley begonias! Am I the only one who liked begonia lanceolata? I love it just because it doesn't look like a begonia at all. I love all plants that are weird like that, that you need to question what it is.. :D
I absolutely agree with you about not catching the begonia bug. There are a few that I like, but it's not in a Pokemon 'Gotta catch 'em all!' way. Controversial, but I don't get the alocasia, anthurium, philodendron craze either, but hey. To each their own and that's why this is fun :D I wanted to ask if you would maybe one day make a Ceropegia Rare plant index? :)
Damn, a lot of people here don't really like begonias. Personally, I love them! The weird funky colors, leaf shapes and textures are so beautiful.

Just the rare plant index I’ve been WAITING for YESSSSS
I've got the begonia Silver Jewel and the Maori Haze and I love them. The maori was the first plant I picked up when I was getting into plants. Its so pretty. And my silver jewel is big, fluffy and volumptious and I love it.
very proud to know about the rare categories
Pipers would be an amazing idea for another rare plant index!
Thanks Kaylee! grabbed a couple cool begonias from watching this video
Found a begonia breakdance at a local nursery and had to snap it up. Mine doesn't have such long stems as the one in the picture. It's growing in the normal begonia bushy pattern. I absolutely love it.
I have a brown/greenish fuzzy begonia that looks like the hallows eve! Very fun plants :)
Love your vidoes. Love to watch on my relax time. Thank you.😁👍
There should be a warning when you do these, making your audience buy so much more plants lol!! 😍😍😍
I love the maculata, batwings, u-641, amphioxus and the pteridiformis so I will keep an eye out for which ever one i can find, thank you so much, I just love your program and the way you deliver
Sansevierias, sansevierias and again sansevierias 🤩
I’m with you in begonia- I have one angel wing that for some reason is flourishing, go figure. I can appreciate their uniqueness but they generally look too ragged for me 🤣
My begonia maculata wightii is the only one surviving in my home. All of the others have gotten powdery mildew.
I've been waiting for this 😍
I did notice you sounding a little under the weather, I hope you don't end up getting sick!
agree with ya on the begonia front by the way, they don't do too much for me
What a great start of weekend! To me the begonia baik looks like some sort of coral.
YAAAAAY!!!! Love these videos, we appreciate your hard work 💕 would love to see Hoya next!
Another bank account breaking video! 😬 I love you ..my credit card, on the other hand, is a little upset with you. 😂😂
Love the sneeze face!! 😘
surefire way to break the bank: buy a plant every time kaylee ellen says "this one is quite nice, I like it actually - but it's not for me" 😅
Many lovley begonias! Am I the only one who liked begonia lanceolata? I love it just because it doesn't look like a begonia at all. I love all plants that are weird like that, that you need to question what it is.. :D
I have black fang begonia, it does the same thing as pavonina with camera flash where the leaves turn blue/green!
I just picked up what I believe is a tie die begonia and what caught my eye is the way the pink shimmers in the sun light
Not a Begonia fan in general...they kinda freak me out, but watching anyway because I like plant knowledge in general and Kaylee in specific ;)
Me scrolling through the comments hoping someone will say they have the metallic blue and it actually looks like that lol
Some stunning begonias are Cathedral, listata , Connie Boswell and Mister Hunt ;)
As a dark and purple leaf plant lover I like begonias cause there's a lot of colour varieties
Didn't have space for a maculata wightii so I got a begonia Medora. I found that that actually liked the silvery spots on the foliage more.
thanks alot for giving and sharing information about begonia
Rare plant index! Yes! I would like to see epipremum / scindapsus / pothos next or peperomia.
