They are actually all part of his band, as well as his backing vocalists. I saw John many times live here in Australia and he NEVER disappointed. A legend here in Australia.
I played this until the grooves wore out when Stevie's Songs in The Key of Life was released in the mid seventies. It takes a great vocalist to cover anything Stevie did. This blows my mind.
As a musician, I can only stand and applaud the perfect tone of every note by every singer in this song⚡️⚡️👍⚡️⚡️ Plus those three notes runs John slips in are so hard to hit from the note he jumps off from. It was great to hear you recognise the world class standard. Because you lucky Americans have had a huge amount of access to live blues sounds that’s not poss to hear in Ox. And you obviously are so experienced. So what a compliment! Again I might mention how surprised visiting top musicians are when they hear our local talent. You’re top dog IMHO 👍
That man can master any kind of genre .To perfektion. He never stops surprising you. I hope to see him on stage again soon. 73 yo. But still mindblowingly good.
Absolutely sublime, I remember being at this show in Sydney in the 90's, I've never forgotten it, it was pure perfection. Of all the Farnham shows we were privileged to see this IMHO was the best. The songs performed, the level of musicianship and the vocal talent on that stage was second to none. I feel such joy to know that FINALLY John and these incredible musicians are starting to receive the level of recognition they so richly deserve. Kudos to you Dominic for continuing to showcase this extraordinary Aussie talent. Cheers
I have been waiting for you to hear this one. Isn't amazing, we really were lucky that John stayed here, because we've had this joy for decades now. 🎼🎵❤️🇦🇺
A great line up to introduce his full band! (minus Brett Garsed and Chong Lim - they come in later) [l-r] Lindsay Field (BV Guitar) [singing doo-doo-doos] , Jack Jones (Guitar Vocals), David Hirschfelder (MD Keys), Steve Williams, (Harp/Sax), Venetta Fields (BV), JOHN, Chuck McKinney (BV), Lisa Edwards (BV), Angus "the Mongrel" Burchall (Drums), Wade Nelson (B Guitar), Phil Buckle (Guitar) Thanks for this reaction - just shows you how brilliant he is! (how musical they all are) CHOOKAS! 💖 PS A pity this clip didn't play longer cos he actually goes into singing "Sadie" 😁 (the song that started his career in 1968 ... and we never let him forget it! 😝) PPS John's still in rehab but looking forward to going home soon!
I was lucky enough to see John and Stevie share the stage in Adelaide. It saddens me that Americans missed John at his peak. Thanks to you for showing them what they missed.
Love it when they all go A Capella on us. Lindsay Fields was the guy doing the deep bass beats....he was at the end, one of Johns best friends... Have you done 'Amazing Grace' with Venetta Fields John Farnham & Lindsay Fields yet?
I've done quite a bit of a capella and it's really easy to lose elevation and finish the song slightly lower than where you started, especially when you're tiring. I just compared the first note with the last, and it's the same. They didn't drop a whisker.
John’s always been a huge Stevie Wonder fan. Wouldn’t it have been great to see John and Stevie duetting together back in the day. Now that would be something
Oh my goodness, just sublime! One of my favourite performances. I was at this concert in December 1990 (can you believe Irwin Thomas was not yet 20?!!) John always had the best people around him on stage and off, and the Chain Reaction tour really highlighted his own songwriting capabilities, not just his vocal abilities... Thanks for doing this one Nick! It's been one of my Paypal requests too... Brilliant reaction as always!
I loved watching John's band nearly as much as watching him back in the day lol. And we got to know them so well! I loved how Angus (drummer) and Lisa (backup singer) and probably others stayed with him for decades!! :)
@@mrmockatoo6786 LOL I don’t think that will be an issue for John! Remember when he told Australia on the Steve Vizard show he had had a vasectomy?? That was pure GOLD!
Key of Life Studio album by Stevie Wonder. *Loves In Need* Songs in the Key of Life is the eighteenth studio album by American singer, songwriter and musician Stevie Wonder. It was released on September 28, 1976
ohhh this is one of my absolute favourites. Everyone in his band was the best available and also all amazing singers in their own right... Still gives me tingles all over. Who need musical instruments with those voices
L-R you have Lindsay Field, Irwin Thomas (Southern Sons), David Hirschfelder, Steve Williams, Vennetta Fields, John Farnham, the late Chuck McKinney, Lisa Edwards, Angus Burchall, Wayne Nelson (Little River Band) and Phil Buckle (Southern Sons)
Nick ... one of Stevie Wonders best friends happens to be Sir Tom Jones so need i remind you that Sir Tom Jones is a big fan of ... John Farnham ... how crazy is that?
Someone PLEASE request John singing All In Love Is Fair.... Nick will love it as he's also a huge Stevie fan.... (live version is from the Whispering Jack concert with the grey silk shirt... which he vowed never to wear under lights ever again hahah)
Darling lad, you MUST get a copy of "Songs in the Key of Life." I imagined every American home would have one. It would have been Lindsay Field singing the beautiful low notes.
erwin aka jack jones and phil buckle played guitar for john in numerous concerts, they are two of australias finest guitarists, they also played in tina arenas concerts with southern sons drummer virgil after the release of her 3rd cd.
This Stevie Wonder song is off his Songs In The Key Of Life cd. .... maybe his best cd ever...... every song on the cd is immaculate. If you haven't checked it out yet, you're really missing out on something great. Don't take my word for it. Check it out yourself....wink. Have a good day, buddy.
Do you have ur own songs/music? I know u can sing dude come on now😑🦾🔥 Great reaction my guy 💚. This song never grow old, don't matter who singing it, I'm singing along too 🙊🤣🔥🔥🔥
John started off singing Sky Hooks' - Women in Uniform : then Shirl came on and John graciously joined Lisa Edwards at the back as background singer; they all had a great time!
Master performer, also his background group is amazing wow so great 😍😍😍😍😎😎
They are actually all part of his band, as well as his backing vocalists. I saw John many times live here in Australia and he NEVER disappointed. A legend here in Australia.

I had never heard of this guy until I watched TSR react to him and instantly became a fan . His voice is unbelievable perfect in my opinion .
❤😊 THE G.O.A.T. THE VOICE
JF always acknowledges his band genuinely. He is humble and never the diva💖

John makes any cover of any song his very own. Once you know John sings a song you just know nobody else in the world can sing it on that level
Agree 💯
Totally
Yep…totally!!! 👍🏼👍🏼
That gave me chills! The only thing better than John Farnham singing on his own is John singing with his whole band. World class 👏 👌 🙌
❤

This is so incredible. John and his band - they love and respect each other soooo much and it shows in their performance. 🎉🎉🎉
Wow I hadn’t seen this before either, absolutely magnificent. 💕💕
There are moments there he is doing a perfect imitation of aspects of Stevie's voice, mastery.
I have been waiting for you to hear this one. Isn't amazing, we really were lucky that John stayed here, because we've had this joy for decades now. 🎼🎵❤️🇦🇺

one thing john always dose is acknowledges the great singers and artists in his band

Yes Nick has ua-cam.com/video/0eHSLxAhXmQ/v-deo.html
Nick has done a reaction to that Amazing Grace performance

Thank you for finding these beautiful gems. Stevie Wonder is one of my fave performers and songwriters of all time too. I love your musical knowledge.
Lindsay Field is amazing in this!

Lindsay. I’ve literally NEVER seen John perform without Lindsay somewhere (he was even in the chorus of JCS)
@@jeffwilson7100 Dang... good pick up. I reckon you're right. And he's amazing in the baritone role - such a clean sound.
Lindsey Field - Far Left of the screen is doing the bass vocals.
Lindsay is doing the dom, dom sound, the hippy of the band the man with the bun. First person on the left! Love your reactions!
Sandy - Lindsay's head is girt by bun.

Key of Life

So sad, didn’t know that about Chuck, he was great on this tour
Loved Chuck and Maggie McKinney...❤
Wow ! Just Wow ! Thank you brother
Oh, if you haven’t heard Stevie sing it yet. You will be hearing John when you do. I haven’t heard John sing that one until just now.
It's pure magic anytime John's on stage. This performance by all is wonderful ❤️ 🇦🇺
Loved this. Amazing harmonies. Brings back such great memories of seeing John in concert.
Nick ... one of Stevie Wonders best friends happens to be Sir Tom Jones so need i remind you that Sir Tom Jones is a big fan of ... John Farnham ... how crazy is that?
Love this performance. You need to watch his performance of ‘All In Love Is Fair’ from the Whispering Jack concert.
Loved this cover of an amazing song

That poor shirt
@@carolynh8866 I know right ? Looked great for the first five minutes... poor John haha...

Blackstreet did a great cover of it too. Not as good as Stevie (or this version) but still great.
Brilliant Stevie album. John's version of this is simply amazing!
Wow so beautiful 😍
I was so hoping you would do this one. X
I told you you would love this years ago!
thats his Band and that was Jack Jones from Southern Sons
Lyndsay Field doing the awesome bass, on John's far right.
finally 😃🥰

The only thing John could never do is be a background singer.
Oh, he could... But it would have to be for someone special (and more than likely particularly young)
Oh, but he has. Darryl Braithwaite’s Edge and Rise albums come to mind.
John started off singing Sky Hooks' - Women in Uniform : then Shirl came on and John graciously joined Lisa Edwards at the back as background singer; they all had a great time!
Love it. Love John Farnham. However, my favorite version is Stevie and Take 6 after 9/11.
How good is his band?
Lindsay fields doing bass
Lindsay Field is the deep voice
Think you mean Jack Jones from Southern Son's !!!!
Irwin Thomas is Jack's real name ❤
Dumdumdumdum does Lindsey Field on the far left
Lindsay Fields last on your left..
