John is what we call an Aussie 'larrikin', a mischievous, cheeky, rowdy but good-hearted person and that is John to the tee!
When John left school he worked as an apprentice plumber, so seeing him changing a shower head was fun to see.
John’s family has just released an update on John’s health, thankfully John has made good progress and seems to be in remission, walking around with a walking stick and enjoying a good joke or two. They celebrated his 74th birthday just the other weak. It maybe some time before he ever makes a public appearance, but his family have conveyed John’s appreciation of everyone that has sent their love and support ❤

I think John is recognised as one of the most nicest people you could ever meet and you are so right that he should be up for a grammy! We have been extremely spoilt having grown up with John in Australia, but we are very proud of him. #JohnFarnhamGrammy

John acted on stage in 2 musicals - Charlie Girl and Pippin. He met Jillian during Charlie Girl (she was a dancer in the show). His documentary is being televised at 7pm on Monday 24th July on Channel 7 for those who don’t know.

You know our John so well. His sons said he was driving the nurses crazy with his jokes and it's not hard to imagine
John Farnham and Hugh Jackman have similar senses of humour: situational, down-to-earth and mostly inoffensive... they both sing and act... and they make their wives love them in long marriages.
John's what we call an all rounder. Actor, comedian, plumber, competitive horse rider and horse breeder, loving husband, amazing father, best freind, regular all round nice bloke but best of all extraordinary singer and entertainer. There is an interview from the Don Lane show where Sammy Davis Jnr asks John what his plans were for the future and John replied simply.
...I JUST WANT TO SING. I can do all that other stuff but I haven't had one direction and I'd like to concentrate on singing.... That pretty well wraps him up in a nutshell. He moved on from that moment and just concentrated on singing.

John is the greatest Australian vocalist, but he is also the most hilarious person I’ve ever known as the best vocalist and he’s always funny too. OMG he really could have been a comedian as well. Anyway he picked the right path for all of us to enjoy 😊 🇦🇺👏👏👏

Apparently his sons said that John was joking and making fun at the hospital the whole time with the medical staff there. He is what us Aussies call....a larrikan.....meaning, silly person, joker, etc.
John Farnham had a tv sitcom in 1977 called Bobby Dazzler, about an up and coming pop star who gets an agent to manage his career, but also lives at home with his dad. It only ran for 1 season. There are clips of it on UA-cam.

John & his family are keeping his recovery mostly private. All we know here is that he's doing well. My Brother had very similar surgery, I know how tough that road was. We all wish John all the love & best wishes for his recovery. It you haven't done a reaction to Anthony Warlow & John doing opera it's well worth a look.
During the 70’s he had a few acting parts- this was from the Last Australians, also he was in a show called Bobby Dazzler, and guest parts in other shows- a lot of Crawford productions I believe
I like to think that John is as good as a singer as he is a true and good human being.

Hi TSR, I'm an Aussie and a life long JF fan. I've loved him since I was a tiny child and he used to guest star on our local television Telethon in Perth (raising money for sick kids). I'm pretty sure I recommended to you a while ago to watch John in concert all the way through a concert.... instead of isolated clips. With our John you get two shows in one. Comedy and music. Some of the best bits happen between songs. He loves to have fun interacting with us. I'm not sure how some of his humour will translate to the American audience, especially his "mother- in-law" jokes....ýou just have to keep in mind that in reality he has a very close relationship with her! Also, some of his humour are running jokes that have been going/building for decades. EG in regards to the song "Sadie the cleaning lady" is one example. John's feelings about that song have evolved and changed over the years...we love to play that game with him. I recently saw the movie "John Farnham: Finding the voice" in the cinema, and am going to watch it again tomorrow night on channel 7 @ 7.30pm Perth time in Western Australia. Unfortunately during the making of this documentary, John's manager Glen Wheatley died (RIP). Without Glen's absolute, steadfast belief in and support of John you would have NEVER heard of him. Glen and his wife Gaynor were in the middle of making the documentary when Glen sadly passed away, and Gaynor went on to finish it by herself. When the "come back" album "Whispering Jack" was finished...no record company would take it on, so Glen took out a mortgage on his house in order to get it out to the public. Thank you Glen! 😙 There is some interesting information in the film, but I would have liked it to end with some concert footage. Also, I thought you would be interested to know that John's family (I'm guessing his two sons, as his wife stays out of the limelight) are giving a live update about John's recovery sometime this week on the Australian morning show "Sunrise" also on channel 7. Me and my Dad have loved watching your mind being blown by discovering the magic that is JF. We have always known how special he is but you really make us realise how privileged we've been to have darling John as part of the fabric of Australian life. Keep spreading the word and campaigning for a Grammy. Might be a long shot, as most Americans don't seem to be as opened minded as you are. Love your work. Lally x

Nick, as far as I recall, John has never given an interview unless he was promoting an album, a tour or a charity concert. Never. He does not seek the limelight unless he’s performing and that he loves .We can only hope that we might see him again.

John is a 'Master Entertainer' - they are extremely rare. Sammy Davis Jnr is another that comes to mind. You have to be great with at least 3 different stage disciplines. Acting/singing/comedian/dancing/musical instrument etc.
John has not been seen publicly since his surgery. I recently saw a comment from his sons, they said "He's OK, but it's cancer, it's a battle" While all of Australia are praying for a good outcome, I don't think this will end well. During his shows, John was always on stage. When he had to take a break between songs, he stayed on stage telling his funny and sometimes very naughty stories. A true entertainer. You should find some of the segments he did on THE TODAY SHOW with Ray Martin, who was the host. John was always a complete clown.

He is a good man, he had a bit of backlash back in the day. Was interesting coming home on the train after John and Guns and roses played on the same night in different venues :). I am a fan of both, but was waring John's Tee-shirt that night. Was with the MSO so best decision I could have made. Unforgettable :)
John is the nicest man... no airs about him...heart of Gold....he also has acted...he starred in a tv series back in the late 70s... about an up and coming pop star...Bobby Dazzler.... he is multi talented ...you can see why we love the man. ..
I was lucky enough to see him in one of his Jack's Back concerts and it was absolutely fantastic, the best thing though was his rapport with the stage crew, his band and the audience. He was so funny. 😂

He was always a singer.. Not an actor. He's just such a down to earth and genuinely funny and up for a laugh. So he has done heaps of TV bits as a result. Guest spots and so on. Legend.
Hey TSR, the above video (towards the end) when John is describing his operation is a snippet from a whole show he did with an Australian comedian called Steve Vizard. As it was a late night show, they were allowed to use more "colourful" language! You can find the extended version on the UA-cam channel "Man Full of Yesterdays" clip is titled "John Farnham -Interview- Steve Vizard Show 2nd October 1990". An oldie but a goodie! Good insight into John's personality. Put a smile on my face.

I believe that first segment was from the Australian sitcom The Last of The Australians(1975), where John made a guest appearance. John had his own tv sitcom called Bobby Dazzler(1977), where he played the title role.
The Australian TV Show was called 'Bobby Dazzler' and it ran from 1977 to 1978. He was aged 28 then. He also made guest appearances in other shows.

I'm an Aussie who was gobsmacked to learn about the unfair treatment that John endured throughout his career including depression. But he battled with his demons with unconditional love from his wife - Jill and the endless support of family, friends & finally, a lucky break through with Glenn Wheatley that enabled us to (arguably) enjoy & appreciate the best singing voices, ever!

I’ve followed John since the first hit of his which was Sadie the cleaning lady He also an actor and was in some some tv series in the 60/70 king of pop for years .
John Farnhams family advised that he is now free of cancer. He has been singing at home and happy and grateful. He himself is not coming into the public arena his family do this. So happy news.
A few days a go John Farnham sent out a written messages from himself. He thanks all for messages and he waa enjoy attention from his wife , sons and his dog. He said he was going to chow down on a pizza.
Close friend of his says he is signing around the house and he said "see I can still sing".
The nurses loved him and his sons said………………( he has every award Aussies can give. Even Australian of the year.) he was a plumber)

The first clip was from the sitcom “The Last of the Australians” which was Australia’s version of the USA’s “All In The Family” with Archie Bunker. (The original was British however: it was a BBC show called “Till Death Us Do Part”.)

TSR this is quite old, Pixie-Ann is a character created by Australian comedian Magda Szubanski (another national treasure!). You might have seen her in the movie "Babe". Also, please watch this TSR as you will learn how to say his name correctly 😆.

No he really wasnt an actor at all. But he was a stupendous singer an all round performer and a very funny bloke. Never missed an opportunity. He would hve shone on old Variety shows or even vaudeville.
