Omgosh I'm in 2 team Richey Vids!! What a week!! Honestly this was a great experience AND you explained it so perfectly and if it wasnt for your persistence i would have given up but like you say #WEDONTQUIT!!
I got MY FIRST EVER bar muscle up tonight!!!🤩🥳
Dennis Hena hell yes, great job man!
Me too! Yesterday!
😔 I been trying and failed 😪 i will keep trying harder need find the right technique
How many pull ups can you do?
Your videos always break down exercises really simply so I literally understand the process. Really think you are the best at this on UA-cam #StrongestTeamOnUA-cam thank you Craig and Jas
go smash them!
Stuck my first muscle up today after 90 minutes of training and this video.. and it felt amazing, I'm hooked! Thanks for the video man
The smile on his face at the top of that first rep is priceless. 😅👍
You forgot crucial tip #3 - take off your shirt! That was the true difference maker for Obi.
This gold dust , thanks for the tips . New to the team so just watching the old vlogs 👏👏👏👏👏
Great video. Your explanation of thinking of 'closing the gap' is really helpful. One of my favourite moments from the 2017 CrossFit Games was Alec Smith's muscle ups in the Muscle-up Clean event. He was just so fluid, it was a thing of beauty:)
My goal for the end of this month is to do at least 5 muscle ups. Your video is going to help me a lot, thank you 👊🏻
Lucas Chesla how u doin buddy
2 dislikers already? Ignore them craig, your putting information out there that helps people and they're just haters
I think the hate is probably because Obi got them so easily whereas everyone else struggles for months lol :D
Here after watch 19.4 announcement.
Man I was just going to tell you to make a video with obi as you guys are in England and I saw this video, awesome!! Cheers from France ❤️
This worked for me today! Got my first ( and 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc) this am just in time for 19.4. Thank you!
watching this against your recent stuff just shows how much you have improved in your youtube career and being comfortable talking in front of a camera
Been trying to MU and been stuck on box scale for forever. Watched this video and within a couple of tries I did it! I can only do singles now but gonna keep working
So crazy! I just got my first last week and now I got that technique down I d em all day on anything I can get my hands on. 😂 a friend gave me a great visual that worked for me personally. A little dirty but effective. And it goes like "fuck the bar, head butt the wall". 🤦🏻♂️😂Worked for me team.
Excellent! I did my first muscle up on the bar ever. Felling so excited. Thank you very much!
I just wanted to say Thank you. You've helped me master my double unders and toes to bar you make it simple to understand the movement. Thank you so much, excited to work on MU's.
Craig you make for a good teacher, good job.
Got my first bar muscle up today! Thanks Craig!!
mrcool274 congratulations!! 🎈🎉🎊🍾
I've been trying for so long to hit this movement. 100kg - easy 12 reps pull up, 10 chest to bar kipping pull ups, but muscle ups have alluded me.
Super stuff Obi. Well done Craig for helping him and many watching the video.👏🏻👍🏻 now please do a how to for ring muscle-up.
Great insight well taught 👌🏽thank you for the tip,I myself have been afraid to try these😳anyway today now age 46 I did my first muscle up the lat engagement was the trick thank you teamrichey
39 here first Muscle up 2days ago
Can you do the exact same thing but for rings Craig
Loving the informative vlogs 😊
Awesome tips and tricks to hit BMU for 19.4! My max unbroken BMU is 4. Still trying to prefect the movement, but excited to do my 1st BMU during the Open.
Richie - a good explanation of a kipping muscle up with a lot of swing. Might be worth also mentioning that the progression is to eliminate the kipping and be able to do a muscle up with form (hence requiring strength vice a hip swing and pull over). Do you do both? Which do you prefer?
Great little summary Craig! Looking forward to beating my own MU barrier. On another subject, I really like your vlogging style, the films you make are stronger and better than ever. Could you one day do a little piece on your camera and lenses? And how what you edit with? I know my daughters would really appreciate your knowledge as both are starting out in media at college this September.
Thanks to you Craig for all your positivity and of course, thanks to the other hero of your vlogs, Jaz!
I'm not sure what type of lenses he uses, but he uses the Cannon 70D camera.
I think he is just using iMovie on his macbook / imac for editing
Canon 70D with 10-22 wide angle lens - Use iMovie to edit as its super simple - add the text / if i make something a little more snazzy on Final Cut! :)
Great video mate! All the things you described I'm guilty of! Hopefully can use your tips to hit bar muscle ups consistently!
Thanks a lot man!
Thanks mate ..
After i watched this video i done my crossfit class , then tried to do it

Definitely using this to improve the efficiency in my muscle ups as it's chicken wing central when I do them haha
have you got a video explaining how to do double unders? if not would you be able to make one!
+IParmanHD look back though the channel I do have one 🤗
TeamRICHEY thanks dude :)
I just did my first "muscle ups" a few days ago (i.e. aided, I bent the knees, this guy here kips) and I have to say I didn't have that feelgood moment I was expecting to have. That is because I felt like cheating. In the beginning I was keeping my legs straight and I couldn't do it. As soon as I lifted the knees it was too easy. If this guy in this video didn't kip, he wouldn't be able to do it either. The way I see it, the reason why the muscle up has become something that everyone wants to boast that they can do, was exactly because it requires a lot of power/explosiveness to do it "properly" (minimal movement and straight legs). If the muscle up was just seen as some sort of kipping move that anyone who can do 10 pull ups and 10 dips could do, then it wouldn't be such the "famous" exercise it is today. After all, doing 10 pulls ups is nothing to boast about, is it now?
If you're doing an exercise to impress people and not to improve yourself or have fun with it, you have other issues. Every exercise has progressions. A kipping bar muscle up isn't cheating. It's an efficient way to get above the bar. And it's fun.
@@TheMdpalmer I'm sorry, it is cheating if your goal is to prove (to yourself) that you got stronger, because you didn't. If your goal is to learn how to get over a bar in an "efficient way" (why would that be anybody's goal unless they want to win the crossfit games?) then it's probably easier to just lift your legs up and above the bar. Much less stress on your shoulders and elbow tendons and mission accomplished.
You're misguided or the typical internet dipshit. In case you didn't notice, the guy in the video is a very strong individual. The point of the video is that there is technique and timing involved for a kipping bar muscle up. If the guy in the video practiced I bet he could do them strict too. I do them because it's fun, not because I have any aspirations for the games.
HSTL? new to the channel. An acronym for hustle or does each letter stand for something as well?
Craig, is there an ETA for the hstleMADE gear? I'd love to be able to get some before i go back to uni! :)
Nice vid mate! #Hassle
Nearly there
معلم
Dude I need to get this. I'm Such as scrub.. after so many years of crossfit I still can't get a muscle up!!!!!
mate im trying to do a pull up...
I don't get what's not working for me than. I managed to get 1 a couple of months ago and after couldn't get any more.
Here after 20.5
I want Craig's shirt from the thumbnail
Nick Balakeras I think John (obese2beast) brought them the shirts when he came to visit them from San Diego, CA. I'm sure you can purchase from the box online.
Skip the kip they said
COVID-19 can do a muscle up on our immune system
👍👍👍
#FittestTeamOnUA-cam
Arch --> Hollow --> Sit Up
So it is a strength issue?
Struggling my ass off with this
Funny thing, I can do 23 strict mu's and 2 keeping mu's. Anyone please lend me some rhythm :(
ZERO
I liked, I commented and I am OUT;-)
:D
tutorial starts at half video
now try not to kip kipping is not a muscle up
This will cause Damage in Shoulders
I love this channel but its a shame that they use a guy in this video who uses steroids. That muscular bulk with leaness is physiologically impossible. The body fat % + lean mass on the black guy is on a scale proven to be unatainable without exogenous hormones. Not a hater, just science. Sorry to rain on the parade.
This exercise should simply be called, how to flap like a fish and get on top of the bar.
These are certainly not muscle ups!
