    You and Tuck and a few others on U Tube are the reason I got really into serious gardening. I planted before but mostly turned on a sprinkler and picked when ripe. Now I have a few beds I made, I can’t afford all Birdies only one. Thank you for your knowledge and excitement which gets me out there. I’m disabled but when I’m in the garden it’s one of the few places that help me forget. Lots of ♥️’s and love to Tuck.

    I'd love to see a follow up video to a harvest video showing what you do with everything you harvested on a given day as you use it up, e.g. what was eaten fresh, canned, frozen, fermented, etc what went to the chickens, got shared with friends, food bank, or composted. My biggest challenge with gardening is processing the bounty in time and running out of ideas to use up so many of one thing.

    I just literally discovered you TODAY, April 1st, 2024. You make me want to just go out there and grow and grow and grow. I remember as a child going to harvest vegetables with my other and every single time we had something ready to pick, it was such a JOY. I have forgotten that and I want that so much for my boys especially since my oldest son LOVES blackberries. Those things are like 2 dollars a handful and i can only afford to buy him 2 little baskets at a time because they cost so much. I would love to have a couple of bushes for all you can eat blackberries. How amazing is that? And my other son loves blueberries. This video is PERFECT for me.

      @@jamesprigioni hi ,I want to give you this idea ,the pictures of your harvest you can make a calendar from them with the small message for gardening under every month .THE DIVERSITY AND VARIETY ARE JUST INCREDIBLE, WORTH THE EFFORTS .IF MOST DO IT ,many desease will be reduced.Im a west African army brat who grew up in a HOMESTEAD lifestyle. SO this is why I love gardening videos You ,California GARDENER and Sir Cliff of Castle hill are my fave. It brings back many memories. IN my childhood My Dad kept us occupied with gardening, a means to avoid wondering in the city ,so we enjoyed nature so much ,we used to have project.There was a time we successfully planted different varieties of papaya, It worked so well that we sold it to GROCERies ,that earnings went to our back to school fees ,we were so proud of OURSELVES .So to this day I cannot eat papaya again I lost the craving of it for how we got crazy about it.Now my DAD PASSED AWAY and at 49 I have a weak liver so I'm forbidden to eat fruits to a big extent. When I tell my siblings we just laugh at it f oi r they know how crazy I'm about fruits .but still I'm yearning to go back to gardening. I live in NY ,small appartment so space .I tried hydroponic, the mice eats the seedlings, so funny.but I'm not giving up somehow one day my small garden ,GOD WILLING.BUT I CAN EAT THE BERRIES AT MOST.

    Idk if you’ll read this but I’m sure I speak for everyone here when I say, you should make a “how to grow” series. A series of videos that teach us from start to finish about plant varieties, categories, techniques, matériels and the science behind it.
    I’m really wanting to start a huge garden and your videos are very helpful but there are things that I still don’t understand and I kill a lot of plants. I would even be willing to pay if you made a private corse about it. Just some food for thought

      Try a shade cloth. I use a 30% uv shade. Doesn't need to cover the whole garden. As the sun passes it'll shade. You can also cut the cloth up into pieces if you have smaller or multiple gardens. If you control the heat, you've fixed half the problems. The cold though, I'm from Michigan so I feel ya there.

    I love seeing your harvest videos! We expanded our garden this year the best we can in our subdivision (HOA) and everything is just exploding. I think it'll be a great year for peppers. I can't wait to have a huge food forest when we move onto more land. I love the way you have everything scattered and integrated around your space.

    love your garden. your channel was def the inspiration behind my start this year (started in march) I use three planters boxes. I have bell peppers and banana peppers in one with a cucumber plant growing up a trellis to give them shade, my other box has red onions, green onions, kale and spinach (all did amazing this year), and my third box has Roma Tomatoes and Beef Tomatoes growing in it. (i need to get them off the ground though. Still a work in progress. The only one i was unsuccessful with were my strawberry plants because of the lack of attention i gave them early on. One hot day in the spring wiped them out unfortunately. Im learning. im learning lol. This channel is perfect. Oh and I garden with my furry guy also! He's always helping (eating) as i go lol. I take it as him letting me know which ones are ready to feed to the rest of the family. Anyways amazing upload, can't wait till i get these kinds of harvests! Happy gardening!

    • @jamesprigioni
      @jamesprigioni  2 роки тому +2

      I use a thick wood chip mulch everywhere beside me square foot beds, and there I use a leaf mulch or straw mulch. Then when weeds are small and pop up I pick them, but there aren’t a lot

    You ever consider cutting pallets in half, above the center board, using the leftover pieces to fill in the gaps so the dirt doesn't spill out, for raised beds? Works great for us! Dried goat shelter leftovers (scat/hay/straw etc.) for growing? Very few weeds other than hay/straw seeds goats didn't eat, easily removed.
