I am so glad! 🙂 Don’t let your age stop you! Plant a garden now 😊 If you do not have space in your own home, there are lots of community gardens. Or find a gardener /garden/ park near you to volunteer at! 😊Getting your hands in the dirt is very rewarding. -Cara

Tip for the pests, set up birdhouses along the perimeter of your garden! those finches will work for free, picking all the bugs out of your garden, especially shiny bugs like beetles. All natural pesticide!

A little hint about the Cantaloupes. They will detach themselves when they are really ready. You can pick them a little early, but they're even better when they separate from the vine themselves. Gorgeous harvest!

@@justinbeeber1641 I just harvested cantaloupes from my vines and they had separated, 2 of them were not fully ripe, the rest were ripe exactly where they should be.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6&7.
I hope you find true peace. I love to garden and it is peaceful to me, but one of the real reasons I enjoy it is because it makes me think of how good my Creator is. God could have created just one type of flower, but instead He made endless varieties. It’s realizing little stuff like that everyday brings my heart Joy. 💛

Hi, this is my first time on your channel. Your hydrangeas are beautiful! Mine haven't bloomed for several years. What's your secret? Holy cow! Your tomatoes are huge! I love your smile when you saw the birds. I grew cushaw squash for the first time this year and they are 2- 3 times larger than a butternut. If you grow them be prepared. The leaves alone are dinner plate sized. And they'll take over the garden. Next year I'll plant them in their own garden. I love that you're picking against the clock with the storm coming. I love doing that myself. I'm in Southern Wisconsin. Your entire garden is a beautiful sight. You are like me in that you delight in garden surprises. Your foxglove is lovely.

Thank you so much for watching, welcome! I will have to look into growing the cushaw squash it sounds so unique! I have never grown that variety before. What variety of hydrangea do you have? Some hydrangeas bloom on "old wood" and some bloom on "new wood". If you have harsh winters or prune too heavily on "old wood" hydrangeas you could be cutting off next year's growth. I have both varieties in my garden, but the limelights are the ones I showed in this video. they are a panicle hydrangea that blooms on new growth or new wood. I love them because the kids, dogs, and cats are always breaking branches haha -Cara

Hi Cara. Great harvest from a beautiful garden. If you look where the cantaloupe is attached to the vine, you'll notice there is a small tendril so when it's dry then the fruit is ripe, also the smell and colour are indicators. Thanks for taking us along.

Great video, Cara! I love that you include the birds and flowers😊 I think cantaloupe harvest is tricky, so much so that I usually just wait until they harvest themselves by dropping off the vine(so I support mine in mesh bags).

17:06 I have a potted garden on the deck & since the end of June I have been snacking on the garden every morning. Fresh spinach leaves or lettuces, grape tomatoes & early in the season sugar snaps or radishes. Glad I’m not the only one lol

New to your channel and I am just amazed at how beautiful your garden is. I have been watching other homesteaders, some for over fivek years and their garden is no where near as beautiful as yours. How long have you been gardening? Your garden looks very professionally taken care of.
