Tip for the pests, set up birdhouses along the perimeter of your garden! those finches will work for free, picking all the bugs out of your garden, especially shiny bugs like beetles. All natural pesticide!

The BEST cherry tomato salad is just cherry tomatoes, cut in half, olive oil, vinegar of your choice, salt, pepper, onion, and basil. My grandmother used to make this salad when we would have lunch at her place in the summer.
Massive harvest. Loved to watch. Keep smiling and growing food. Cantaloupe gives out a vein at the tip where fruiting begins. This vein dries up and becomes crispy. That's the sign that Cantaloupe is ready to harvest. Melons, squashs, gourds too.

yeah, birds are fantastic creatures! They have different colors.... We have a couple of rare birds around the area that are hanging by casually. Maybe, I can make a bird house next week!

Japanese beetles are predated upon by a wasp that is attracted to goldenrod. If you kept a small stand of goldenrod on the edge of your yard you may have less trouble with the japanese beetles.
That is a great tip! We have lots of golden rod in our fields. How close to the garden to you recommend it be? I’d say right now it is a few hundred feet.

Mate, Japanese beetles are invasive and incredibly damaging to not just crops, but our native plants. They're an epidemic and one we're failing to control here in the U.S.

Hi, this is my first time on your channel. Your hydrangeas are beautiful! Mine haven't bloomed for several years. What's your secret? Holy cow! Your tomatoes are huge! I love your smile when you saw the birds. I grew cushaw squash for the first time this year and they are 2- 3 times larger than a butternut. If you grow them be prepared. The leaves alone are dinner plate sized. And they'll take over the garden. Next year I'll plant them in their own garden. I love that you're picking against the clock with the storm coming. I love doing that myself. I'm in Southern Wisconsin. Your entire garden is a beautiful sight. You are like me in that you delight in garden surprises. Your foxglove is lovely.
Thank you so much for watching, welcome! I will have to look into growing the cushaw squash it sounds so unique! I have never grown that variety before. What variety of hydrangea do you have? Some hydrangeas bloom on "old wood" and some bloom on "new wood". If you have harsh winters or prune too heavily on "old wood" hydrangeas you could be cutting off next year's growth. I have both varieties in my garden, but the limelights are the ones I showed in this video. they are a panicle hydrangea that blooms on new growth or new wood. I love them because the kids, dogs, and cats are always breaking branches haha -Cara
Hi Cara. Great harvest from a beautiful garden. If you look where the cantaloupe is attached to the vine, you'll notice there is a small tendril so when it's dry then the fruit is ripe, also the smell and colour are indicators. Thanks for taking us along.
Great video, Cara! I love that you include the birds and flowers😊 I think cantaloupe harvest is tricky, so much so that I usually just wait until they harvest themselves by dropping off the vine(so I support mine in mesh bags).
17:06 I have a potted garden on the deck & since the end of June I have been snacking on the garden every morning. Fresh spinach leaves or lettuces, grape tomatoes & early in the season sugar snaps or radishes. Glad I’m not the only one lol

The current tomatoes I canned a load and they stayed mainly whole and made the most beautiful pasta sauce tasted like fresh tomatoes

Hi Cara. Great harvest from a beautiful garden. If you look where the cantaloupe is attached to the vine, you'll notice there is a small tendril so when it's dry then the fruit is ripe, also the smell and colour are indicators. Thanks for taking us along.

Great video, Cara! I love that you include the birds and flowers😊 I think cantaloupe harvest is tricky, so much so that I usually just wait until they harvest themselves by dropping off the vine(so I support mine in mesh bags).

17:06 I have a potted garden on the deck & since the end of June I have been snacking on the garden every morning. Fresh spinach leaves or lettuces, grape tomatoes & early in the season sugar snaps or radishes. Glad I’m not the only one lol
