Wolf elec kit used a relay that allowed a microswitch in handle to operate a solenoid on tailgate to
Operate once unlocked only. Exactly how you want it
Cheers Matthew, it’s in my next video showing how I figured it out using that method 👍, I’ll probably use another relay too that removes the connection when the central locking is locked.
@@pdubs7831 the kit used the switch wires in drivers door to enable a relay to supply power to tailgate which then used another relay to take microswitched ground to send power to solenoid

Bloody amazing work and great mod, I’ve got those Led number plate lights on my t4, they are super bright and have lasted 3 years to date, however the first ones I had burned out, you’ll love them 👍
I am just in the first minute of video - but i have to say - GREAT IDEA !!! I am excited ! And looking foreward how complicated this will be. Maybe some day i will copy this ides ;-) Thumbs up !

Well that was a hell of a lot of faffing about to get to the required result . Well done on the electric side of things that's a rather neat idea I guess the polo was a mechanical lock as well so that was out using anything else . Sadly it's a long process getting the body work back to some sort of acceptable level when panel welding , however ya got there .. going to be a neat individual touch to the rear door . Cheers
Cheers Gary, yes it was a lot of work but I don’t regret it, I’ve already fooled one of my mates with it who couldn’t find the camera 😬
Most importantly, when you bit into it, that pizza sounded like it had been cooked at 210 degrees for about 3 months! 😂
I can’t remember the last time I ate a pizza that I didn’t burn after doing a job that took longer than I planned. 🙄
Use the sony headunit - top half is single din & screen comes down the replace the pocket. 👍
Cheers Matthew, I’m half way though fitting the Sony, mine does not have the pocket so I’m having to modify the dashboard. Most of it is getting cut out and replaced to take the radio. A much bigger job than I first thought.

hi you could use a 5 pin relay to disconnect it when the central locking is activated. pin 30 con fused 12v, pin 87A power to the micro switch the 12v will go straight through the relay ( open circuit ). pin 86 switch 12v from the central locking, when energise the relay(closed circuit) will cut the power to the micro swicth

Have a look at Sony XAV-AX100 6.4" for stereo, has double din face, but single din back unit on top, should fit the space pretty good if you remove the small pocket under where stereo would normally be in console, mine is 02 2.5 tdi. I think u need to chop stuff otherwise for double din.

@@pdubs7831 No worries, you can also get the fascia bit with 3 holes pre cut as a vw part no. 7D1819075E 01C to save cutting the original, in case you ever need to shove the Blaupunkt back in ;)

Interesting project. I have too much rust to deal with before start anything like that. I like the plane shape foam block you used where did you get that from?

I ordered camera from Aliexpress. Takes a few weeks to deliver but was well worth it.

Sorry no link for it. Company is ‘Ali Express’ there’s a couple of options of slightly different models. I didn’t get it quite right as you may have seen as the orientation was out but I got away with it as I had the flexibility of rotating the metal patch.

So how does this attach to the locking mechanism?
The electric badge is used as a switch to apply power to the central locking. There’s another video explaining the circuit.
