if you can get you're hands on some SoCal jigs I prefer ultralight heavyweights (they're known by everyone around here lol), they expensive but they're is a reason why

Fished beside a guy in Cherokee using those things last Spring. He did ok. They couldn't keep up with natural baits or Joe's Flies but he caught his limit finally. I could certainly see where they would work especially for a change as you've mentioned before. Good video per the norm.

They are certain mini-jigs with better natural colors but tbh mini-jigs work best for pressured stocked trout rather than wild trout
@@nicholasbonilla7895 well aware of that. Stocked trout was what we were after that day. Like I said they did ok and I have used them as a change of pace with multiple clients. Day in day out though nothing will top natural baits, Trout Magnets and Joe's Flies. Having said that they are worth having in your vest. Good luck

The 5 hours leading up to the 45 minutes it took to make this video was horrendous! Some days they are so stubborn
I've been using mini jigs in Alaska for over 10 years. I lived in southern California for 8 years and brought some of their secrets up north with me! I used to fly fish for trout mostly but now I've updated my arsenal of jigs and I started using 2" paddle tail swimbaits and the bigger trout love em!!

good, I thought we were alone using this technique in the state, seriously makes me grudge when I watch people place inline spinners and spoons over the mini0jig for STOCKED trout (obviously they work much better for wild trout).

The mini jigs worked great! It looks like they come in lots of different colors. They are definitely worth looking into

look if they work in the over-pressured, gen clear, deep water reservoirs of SoCal, they work anywhere lol
Also only a couple of the baits are in fact mini-jigs, the others appear to be either 1-2in minnows, they also work well here in SoCal but are much more situational
if you want to get into mini-jigging, you should definitely invest into a high quality ultra-light (sizes perferablly between 8ft-10ft with 8'6 being the best all around) along with a light spinning reel or BFS baitcaster (preferably one that can casts 1/32 oz up to 30-50ft) with either a leader line or main line of 2lb test (in diameter)
u you can get away with a thick or heavier line. then by all means go ahead, after-all this is only a preferable setup specifically to mini-jig fishing and you could fish mini-jigs on whatever you want
I seen people catching limits with those mini jigs. I would definitely try them out, thanks for the motivation!

SoCal mini-jigs are basically just a high-quality crappie jig tbh used to compete against powerbait fisherman

I found your channel while looking for reviews of the trout magnets. I purchased the panfish magnet kit and I'm doing pretty well on those. Unfortunately we dont have trout here in NW AL so I just use them for crappie and other panfish. Great vid and those baits worked well. 👊👍
Most trout gear really does transition over to panfish and bass nicely! Thanks for watching
if you can get ur hands on some nice ones, you can make them into a really good finesse bait lure for clear water reservoirs bass fishing wise, I have countless bites from nice bass and heard of fish caught with the 6lb range on my local highly pressured reservoirs in SoCal

was that stretch of water stocked fairly recently? i know they stock at blue springs fairly regularly... my local spot (also in va) hasnt been stocked in a few weeks and ive only caught one fish in the last 2 weeks on spinning and fly outfit... didnt even sight any today. awesome work on bring them in

How's does one get ahold of some of these jigs. There's no website, the Facebook page don't have any info either. Anyways another great video. I hit cripple creek by 94 today crushed em with most green and black trout magnets and freaky Frank's little worms. Fish were very nice sized fish compared to most state stocked places I've fished this year. Caught 20 or so and kept 3 for dinner!
