    Wow just seeing this out of the box ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

    My son loved this depth finder. He's used it for ice fishing and on his 14ft boat. Works well and is fairly easy to use. Saw fish on the depth finder, caught fish in that spot. Can't ask for more, except maybe an automatic fish cleaning option :)

    My go to rod and reel right now is my 8'6" okuma salmon steelhead rod and it's paired with a whatachamp aldona 4000 spinning reel. I love this combo for it's versatility, I can throw the lightest of baits you can think of, weightless worm is one of my favorite throws, yet it can cast out a 1 oz spoon or inline spinning bait.

  • @donnyd7516
    @donnyd7516 2 роки тому +2

    Great vid. Try putting your index at top rim of spool and hold line there instead of on the rod. You get farther cast and can stop bait whenever for pin point accuracy. 30 years ago a guy who taught me to fly fish showed me. Works way better. I know it's hard to change but it's worth it. Recently subbed to Golden State. Great channel. Just got a new 7'6 ul okuma California paired with 1000 size diawa. A guy at Turners convinced me to go diawa instead of shimano. For the price Diawa is better for spinning reels. I'm sold. 5lb power pro 2lb leader. I'm sold. Cast like a charm

    I just don’t know how you can tell if they’ve “sucked in” the bait - how subtle is that initial take?

    • @jackpotjoey3940
      @jackpotjoey3940 4 роки тому +3

      If you’re fishing blind the bite is most often super subtle and can sometimes be hard to detect.
      I fish the jig in all waters and it gets bit so much I rarely fish anything else.
      Here are some tips that will help you detect the subtle pickups.
      Try to fish with the wind in your face so your line falls straight. If there’s no wind or light breeze fan cast to cover area. A straight line is key.
      After casting mend your line. Let it sink a little then close your bail and let it sink down without doing a thing. Most pickups are on the drop. Keep your rod tip as low to the water as possible. *Watch your line at the tip, pay very close attention to how the line sinks. If you see the line twitch, shoot out or do anything that seems different than the natural sink wind fast and set. Hope this helps.
      Tight lines.

    • @TroutMadeAnglerCo
      @TroutMadeAnglerCo  4 роки тому

      Hi NQ! Yes the bites are very subtle, if you watch underwater footage of trout eating on YT you can see how fast they can detect whats real or not with a quick sip! I watch my line, as well as feel the rod's sensitivity. I use braid to mono leader which helps a lot to detect those bites!

    I would say a reel with a good drag system is a must because of the 2# test. I would feel more comfortable with 3#...and in clear water like in most Sierra lakes, 4# is probably too big even if it's fluorocarbon...

I've seen 7 1/2 pounders come out of this same spot and all wild... If you ever want to come up here and fish let me know! I've been through and we all go through it everyday fishing and life. And all you can do is keep going. Cause if you stop, you won't catch a fish, ever right? This season I've skunked twice and got one, then hit limits. My last outing I caught one. Just keep fishing, keep casting thats the only way to get out of a slump. I don't have any superstitious methods LOL but sometimes, taking the pressure off yourself and remembering you're there to have fun and enjoy the outdoors helps me. You will GET MADE! Thanks again!

      Hey Dan! Appreciate the support here on the channel! I’m not sure what could be happening. Check that the line is put through the guides correctly. You mentioned once a down payment to replace your Phoenix rod you broke a tip on, how much did they make you pay to replace the rod? That’s right I broke the tip on a Phoenix elixir less than a month old and was wandering… they offered to put on a new tip on, it’s 3” at the break, I think having two eyes 3” apart will mess with the cast ability, and we’ll it’s just getto!!!!!!

      @@TroutMadeAnglerCo it was a one piece, I perfer one piece with my personality keeps me from adjusting it all day thinking it’s off center! turners hooked me up though, I shop there pretty often, so since I just bought it (liderally my first trip the lead eye found the crack at the corner of my tailgait in the bed of my truck!) anyway they exchanger it for a new one and only charged me a buck😆 and sent the broken one back and told them it was damaged in the transport! They even let me exchange it for a two piece as I saw it’s going to be an ongoing challenge moving forward. Hope to fish with you someday soon, I went up to green valley not to long ago with rob aka sea spanker and it was a slay day! He invited me last minute up to eastern Siera this weekend, I was like dude that’s not a drop everything and go trip, got gas and hotels, maybe next time, that is where my fishing journey started as a kid though!
