    The best video of a 180 on UA-cam by far, great work! It's a shame that these have always been plagued with reliability issues, and bought in small numbers as, to me, they're far superior to any of the Voyager/Meridians.

      I have heard so many people say bad things about 180s been on them quite a few times with grand Central and never see a problem and I am so glad that I'm not the only one who thinks these are fantastic

      @Jordan Jones How so? The 180s have more power and a higher top speed; they may be from the same manufacturer and share some similarities but that's far from the same thing.

    One thing I miss about the related 175s is that wine sound and exhaust rumble these Coradias always make when the engines are idling, the 180s also sound very similar at lower rpms to the 175s as well.

    Great video. ☺️ This train sounds like it uses the same engine as the Class 172's but with a 3-Speed Voith gearbox instead of a 6-Speed ZF gearbox. This train would have sounded way better with the ZF gearbox.

      This engine is abit stronger QSK19 at 750HP ;)
      The QSK19 engine is no engine for many gearchanges (it's designed to run at a constant RPM (or slow revving)

    • @AllianceB95
      @AllianceB95 3 роки тому +1

      @@UndergroundEric Well that's true that's basicly with all QSK19 fitted DMU's... The DB has alot of issues with the Cooling of the 612s (QSK19 engines) too resulting in many emergency idle moments and lots of coolant being used... Same goes for the Stadler Flirt Bi-Mode with them Deutz V8 diesels.... DB always tells the drivers to notch it up gently and to use the HD brake where the engine gets revved up and the coolingfan can blow away all the heat.... Usually about 4km of HD Braking to let these engines cool down after being worked to the max :)
      These Cl.180s they really are pushed beyond what they can withstand... Tooo long in that First Gear at 1900-2100rpm results in the biggest strain of this engine.

    A few things I would like to say:
    1 - 3:47 was when Gear 2 upped to Gear 3, not 3:45.
    2 - The Class 180 sounds like the Class 195/172, probably because said train uses the same engine but with a three speed gearbox instead of a six speed one. I feel like this train deserved at least a five speed, so one gear change at 25mph, another at 50mph, then the third at 75mph, the fourth at 100mph and you can guess the last one. This will reduce the fires by approximately 0.3%, meaning more of these can actually survive.
    3 - Considering the fact like one/two of these have their buffet carriages out due to severe corrosion tells me Alstom have all sorts of shit on their backs, for this train in particular, poor build quality. I was only just born (September 2012) just after they called off their court case with Eurostar and Siemens as they were so angry that the latter picked Siemens to build the Eurostar E320. (Tells me Eurostar will be avoiding the French after what they did.)
    4 - Amazing video! ❤❤

    The Class 180 Adelante are very powerful trains with a nice engine and good acceleration. Maybe you could do Class 175, Class 220, Class 221, Class 222 and Class 185.
