Top job Bazz, really enjoyed your ride through the forests. This bike is going to make a lot of people happy in a way that doesn’t scare new and older riders alike. Like you I’m in the latter category, same weight, height and after 40 years of superbikes I want to slow it down a bit and just have fun on a much lighter bike that I can use all the performance without ending up in the bush or worse! Looking forward to your full bush ride.

@@bazz6670 I just concentrated on work and my week just flew by. Come Friday night I was getting pretty excited. When I started riding it the left mirror tilted, the gear lever was tilted too high, gear shifter too high, that snatchy throttle in slow traffic and coming back on out of round abouts. Sorted the ergonomics to suit me when I got home
I have most of the accessories ordered and now looking to add the taller screen. The current one is too low at both settings for me. I may need to move the handle bar mount forward more to be comfortable standing up.
Seat is too low for me and have the higher seat coming.
But I did find the bike feels light when riding, or lighter than I expected. I like the sound of the muffler but find it almost being too loud when idling, especially at 5am while warming up before my first proper ride.
One thing I have found searching through the menus is that the trip metre, whether 1 or 2, can only be reset in the menu. No straight up button to reset this. I'm still trying to work out what is the most useful to be displayed on the screen. Pity i can't choose a few on them. I never had those options before on bikes and now that I do I what to see them!

The thing that really interests me about these bikes is if you watch this video with your view straight ahead off road-how much can you see of obstructions before you hit them. What I mean isif you look at paused view straight ahead off road you have display in your line of vision & you also have your screen also in your line of vision. I don't think you actually lowered the screen for off road. At 11:41 on your video you look at the freeze frame! Your vision ahead is very badly obscured. If their was rock or gouged out trench up ahead I very much doubt whether you would see it. I only comment on this as Itchy boots is in hospital from a very bad accident on her crf300 rally & her bike is the same where her vision is partly obsured by instruments/ screen & GPS. I jsut wonder how safe that is for off road riding. I'd be interested to see the difference if you screen was fully down! I'm not being critical of the bike, it's just an observation & i think Itchy boots crash drew my attention to what might have happened. What are your thoughts?

If you want to go off road I'd put crash bars over that fairing as I've heard if you drop it that it can break. I'd be interested to know your MPG as I've heard the economy isn't that great-hence the big fuel tank. Otherwise a good bike but I wouldn't take on on any tight technical stuff as it's probably too big & heavy. It gives you the option if you're touring & see an off road section to a bay (not a track but road), that you can take it. I saw a guy get stuck down a track & he said he could see it was getting very slippery. He had enormous trouble trying to turn the bike around due to the size of the bike & also he couldn't get traction.

My 450nk is quite twitchy in 1st gear low revs and doesn’t really seem to like being lugged down at all in any gear. Definitely likes to be above 4k for the sweet spot in power and smoothness. I hope the mt has a different fuel map that makes slower riding better and not require aggressive trail riding without doing a ton of clutch work.

I had a dr650 for several years before the 450. Dr probably had more grunt from low the 450 is a more linear power. The 450mt has such a smooth motor and just keeps revving where the dr won't. The dr felt like a shorter bike and handles horrible compared. Dr. I felt very fatigued after a longer ride with its vibe motor . 450mt is way more comfortable and enjoyable to ride. I had a safari tank on mine so made it heavy to pick up but mt feels about the same.
