You say standing there awkwardly. I say standing there like a fuckin boss who stays outta the way and only steps up to melt our faces with his scream and then recedes back into the shadows
Rage and Tool have been connected from early on. Tom Morello and Adam Jones were classmates and played in a band together. Tom moved to LA and introduced Adam to Maynard and Danny. There is quite a history with these two bands although quite different in sound. However, they share mostly the same ideals
Adam and Maynard met through an unknown source, but the pair got introduced to Danny through Morello after not being able to find a drummer or bassist ( and all the people they invited to jams didn’t show up ). Turns out Danny lived in the flat above Maynard’s, and played because he felt bad for them. Another friends of the 3 introduced them to Paul, and the rest is history
+HisNameIsRobertPaulson Right? That was always what I loved about these old vids. I always felt it was mix of him doing it out of respect for Rage and also to be funny.
he had that down packed from screaming it in the car like everyone else , its one of those songs where almost everyone who knows the song would grab that mic and do the same thing if given a chance.all the same maynard knows whats up.rock hard rock free.
i just love how rage is head banging, Maynard just stands there all cool and collected then he begins to sing n everyone goes quiet in the crowd damn near.
cool calm and collected, not collective. I agree tho MAynard is on another plane, a higher gear of understanding than most. He was headbanging inside while meditating on the outside.
Because when Maynard sings you do kind of get quiet and spiral. TOOL concerts have the same vibe. There's something special about his vocal abilities that just...they do something to our brain. Idk if it's his range or tone or what.
time has come to..... PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. No comments on that, it exceeds human capabilities.
But only when you can see it as it is. It is derivative of pain and is directed at a source seen as culpable of wrongdoing. Look at it rationally and see if analysis yields that there is an injustice. If you would be in the right ethically, take action accordingly. Otherwise, anger may lead to irrationality in you, and then potentially trigger the same effect in others, until justice is in this right.
Tom is doing hammer ons and pull offs while flipping the pickup selector switch during the solo. Dude....I don’t even think Hendrix or van Halen did that
@@cheothegeo2742 his radio show on SiriusXM , One Man Revolution, has a clip of a woman saying 'Shut up and play guitar' in the intro. He has a good humor about it.
@Mary Kidd We're all entitled to our opinions, but the more I listen to MJK speak about his life story, the less arrogant he comes off. He actually talks about the importance of hard work, working with your hands, knowing a trade, and knowing the land you live on. I don't hear too many other celebrities discussing these things, as most celebrities and narcissistic people feel like there's nothing they need to improve on. Maynard and his bandmates were the ones that taught me that there is always something to work on within ourselves. Take care, sister. ☺
Freaking miss Rage! That maynard scream.... OMG. Love love love it!!!! I hate that I never got to witness this live. Wish they would get back together for one more album!
I like how MJK just stands in front of the drums barely moving until his verse, then just hands of the mic after the epic scream. Classic maynard. Has anybody seen him live with tori amos? its pretty good imo.
Morello playing the last riff disproves the old guitar adage 'you can't upstroke yourself into toughness' Never before have so many upstrokes been so tough
I much prefer this version over the album/studio version, the speed difference makes an astounding difference to the energy of the song. Sounds a lot more fun, this version does, especially in the intro and during Maynard’s part.
thank you I never noticed before, I love Danny Carey, it's been a good minute since I've seen this video . it's my favorite live version of this song, Maynard is amazing as usual and ratm were just awesome.. so cool, I got the glimpse of Danny... wow!!!!

So, at the time this was filmed Maynard & Tool had only released one full length album - Undertow. Two if you count Opiate as a full album. +natsfan1137 I think Maynard was just looking for his weed dealer and happened to wander onstage.
+gh astly I like how Maynard said his line.
Maynard has patience now, took me at least a decade to realise TOOL/Maynard is maybe even better thsn RATM. This is beautiful

Hi Chloe, thanks for sharing that. I love finding out about these curious things about bands! I didn't know about this one :)
Rumor is that Tom Morello was looking at Maynard to be vocalist for the band before he decided on Zack.

His hair style, and we dressed in this performance, sooooo 1994ish. Sometimes I wished it was 1994 right now.
