@@hughmcnamara1790 this fits better because of the lyrics and the title. It seems like it was made specifically for the movie because of how well it fits.
Fredrik Johansson 1992-1993 was when Zack was at his angriest, it was like his actions on stage vocals and screaming were compared to an angry possessed twelve year old boy who just downed one two many cans of red bull prior to performing.
Fredrik Johansson bro i'm sorry but in my mind, it was better in this period, i fcking love his words bc it really shows that he cares, We need ppl like him today
I kinda laugh on how Zack's voice cracks while screaming "Wake Up" He was 23 years old then in this but he sounded like a teenager during the Self titled debut era (1992-93) his voice changed in the band's later albums though which i prefer.
Brad's inspiration after 4:30 is what takes this version to another level. Tim follows perfectly. Tom's Tele/Marshall tone is to die for in this version and he adds textures that weren't in the studio version.
That bass at 3:20 will haunt you in your nightmares. What a privilege to have seen them live - October 1992 and again October 1993, both at Metro in Chicago.
if you want your commentary on society and the human condition to be a bit more traditionally funky, check out Manifesto by The Souljazz Orchestra, and if you like the modern weirdness, check out The Mountain by a band called Haken, they're both on UA-cam somewhere and they both deal with political and societal things in their very different ways, and they all groove like hell.
AMAZING BAND! they know whats happening around us! i wish someday RATM performed again in the philippines one more time! my country needs this kind of music!
I've been a Rage fan since 1995 at age 15 when I started listening to rock music. Now 2021, still a huge fan of theirs. Thanks so much NU 107 Davao for always playing 90s rock hits back then including the Rage.👍✌️🤘😉
the intro and the ending to this song is just incredibly well put together. I guess it didnt take Zack, Tom, Tim and Brad long to piece both those parts of this song together. the solo too...
+mjbdvp Yeah. You can see her do it on some of these shows RATM have on youtube. I think she introduced them as recently as 2008 but perhaps she announced them in their 2010 European tour as well and back in LA in 2011. Not sure but I have seen her do it and it is cool to see an 80(?) year old woman say "Now the best band in the world, Rage against the Machine" With her bony little fistpump.
Zack de La Rocha during the debut album period of RATM (1992-93) kind of reminds me of Jonathan Davis during KoЯn’s debut album period (1994-1995) as he was probably heavily influenced by the former . Both Zack and Jon had dreads and both debut albums had really unsettling cover art and had venomous aggressive energy on stage during those two periods.
I love there early live perfomances, the newer ones doesn't have the same power!!! Same with the albums, Evil Empire and Rage Against The Machine Are 100% there best albums!!!!
Zack got more comfortable on Stage as he had to change his style, he couldn't keep doing the Hardcore shit like he did with Hardstance/Inside Out years prior as RATM were later Gangsta Rap influenced when Evil Empire came out.
i just discovered this band. Man it's 2012 and this music is timeless. I just watched matrix and wanted to know who did the final song. THESE GUYS ARE INCREBIDLE, WOW! WOOOOWWWWW!!!!!!!
Movements come and movements go Leaders speak, movements cease When their heads are flown 'Cause all these punks got bullets in their heads Departments of police (what?) the judges (what?) the feds Networks at work, keeping people calm
This was probably the best song for the matrix.
And rob dougan, clubbed to death
Fo' sho. The what?
I mean Rob Dougan though.. but yes probably it was.
@@hughmcnamara1790 this fits better because of the lyrics and the title. It seems like it was made specifically for the movie because of how well it fits.
Hell yeah!! I took a day off from camp to listen to this in year 2001 ^^
I love how much energy Zach De La Rocha puts into his performances.
It's a shame that the band's later years that he got lost that intensity when his voice changed.
Joey Roller yeah he lost the harcore punk voice
Chris, I love your taste in music. Joy Division & RATM. What a legend.
thats not energy, thats truth.
@@K.J.S.est1994 Its called aging. I too wish I could be in my 20s again...
The thing that i love with Zach is the anger you can see in his face. He gets MAD at this injustice, he doesn't just claim to be angry like others.
His passion is so much it spreads to the individual and makes them want to spread it.
Fredrik Johansson 1992-1993 was when Zack was at his angriest, it was like his actions on stage vocals and screaming were compared to an angry possessed twelve year old boy who just downed one two many cans of red bull prior to performing.

@Sound Logic you can do well and still think the system is unfair. The champagne socialist talk is for people with negative IQs
Unfortunately he turned out to be just another fuckwit who couldn't think beyond 'left vs right'.
literally had goosebumps from when he screamed wake up
You are not the only one brother 🤘🤘🤘
my man straight up yelled his lung out
i fucking cried bruh wtf
yea..it's almost like....we need to wake up
Speechless... hands down they're one of the best band ever
with out a stupid doubt. one of the most INCREDIBLE bands in music history. Rage is my top #1 in my rock life
Possibly thee
WERE one of the best..Now they're tools of the criminal elite.

They are one of the few band where their live performance manages to match and sometimes surpass the album.
I prefer the rugged cracks of the early RATM era. Wish he'd not started smoking.
Joey Roller that dont even matters zack scream of angry not some metal scream stuff
Brad's inspiration after 4:30 is what takes this version to another level. Tim follows perfectly. Tom's Tele/Marshall tone is to die for in this version and he adds textures that weren't in the studio version.
THE BEST BAND ON EARTH.
Yes.
There's nothing like it.
Not the best but defenetly one of the best
Relax buddy
Zack's spitting pure rage! Awww, good old times.
Thompter S. Hunson 1992-93 was when Zack was at his fucking angriest
What a band!!!!
There are no other band like them
and tom morello bizarre guitarist
Refused is like them but that's about it
I love the way the got introduced on stage, give it that school talent show vibe
That's Tom Morello's mom.
That bass at 3:20 will haunt you in your nightmares. What a privilege to have seen them live - October 1992 and again October 1993, both at Metro in Chicago.
The massive riff at 5:20 exploding at 5:32 is even more powerful.
So jealous you saw them when they were in their prime
Yep. amazing the way the bass here kind of reminisces the sound of a machine gun followed by "think iheard a shot"
Why don't we have music like this anymore
there is, but it is hidden.
where?
you've got to be willing to get... weird

Best performance of this song live !!
" I'll give ya a dose
But it'll never come close
To the rage built up inside of me " - ( 7:20)
Back when tom used the Ibanez dfl flanger pedal. I miss the sound of it
fist inthe air in the land of hypocrisy
Lord... their energy...
Never gets old.
I still get goosebumps when zach yells "wake up"
AMAZING BAND! they know whats happening around us!

Fillipino are gifted especially in Music. 🧡🧡🇵🇭🇵🇭
very soon
Tama ka. You're exactly right. I really wish Zack will come back with the rage and will rock the world again.👍✌️🤘😉
This is my favorite song... Ive been hearing it for almost 2 years and still make me jump out of my bed
28 years later, and this song still rolls through my head every time I watch the news.
This is the best version imo
I had chills the whole time nonstop😳 I can’t even express my love for Rage
Tom is legendary!!!!!!
Tom is fucking impossible!
Agreeable
Zack, too! They all are!
Jerry is a beast also
That was beautiful
It never was "just a song", its the truth set to music...some people are just slower to "wake up"
anger is a gift :)
As a Rock fan they were my "gateway" into Hip-Hop. Forever grateful.
I'm not even a hard leftie, but RATM is one of my favourite bands ever. This performance is so fucking powerful as well.

One of the REALEST bands EVER.
Hoover....he was a body remover....

for 1993, this is from another planet
This is a masterpiece every part of this song is an awesome new melodic piece, fucking awesome.
Holy shit. What a first song for a show. Such emotion, and still so relevant.
Best song to open the set with. WOW, what an introduction!
Best live recording of Wake Up by far, everyone just sounds so good in this recording. Listen to the bass for goodness sakes! :36 - :42
Blessed to have these guys do what they do. Legends forever

There is no feeling like the feeling of listening to RATM
Saw them live in New Orleans Lollapalooza ‘93. May have been THE MOST AMPED I have ever been at a show....and I have seen MANY bands.

This is ultra powerful, these guys can play but OMG the message in this song is so moving.
hey Brasil, wake up!
É tarde demais, infelizmente...
1993 in the year of RAGE i was born!
BLASTING THE SPEAKERS NOW!!
I read somewhere that Toms mum sometimes used to introduce the band live...would that be her at the start? Can anyone confirm/deny this...?

Wow... Damon Sierocki just told me to listen to 'rage against the mach-ween' and he is right, they are awesome

That's intense 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Seen these guys 3x live Woodstock, NY and Boston...Even know I meet people they tell me I wish I have seen RATM live

what does he say since 4:51?
best video on youtube. has 175k views. :L
I have the 1992 Rage against the machine cd produced by EPIC and Sony music. I consider it one of my prized possessions.
Kyle And World Arguably the angriest album ever released by them, Zack’s vocals and screams were insane on there.
Best version of it!! So much energy and anger
This is just Epic!!!
thank you man

Good work Mr DeLaRocha this performance is than is cd
