Hey Cpaws! I can't thank you enough for the help with this video. I've only recently started my YT channel, and the audio was all over the place. I am still having issues with the mic audio cutting out if I scream and was wondering if there is any way you may be able to help me fix this issue.
I was also wondering if you could go indepth more into the two track audios, one for mic/aux, and the other for the game audio. I've followed the video as you did but I'm not getting two track audios.

I'm trying to find a video on obs settings for recording acoustic guitar, but I haven't found any. I'm using an Audio technica AT2020. Any recommendations on videos?
not sure if this is correct or not, but I am currently using a mixer and I did setup that through the settings tab. however, when i exit out of settings and go back to basically the front page where it says audio mixer. i have have audio mixer then currently underneath that there is desktop audio and then mic/aux with the volume slider. so, my question is. when i watch a video or just watching your video through setup both of the faders are moving, desktop audio and mic. almost as if both faders are going through. and the mic is muted on the mixer itself. . is this normal or is there a way to seperate them or should the be? tia.

Is there a way to use more than 1 audio track for live stream? I usually record every track separately like you show at the end. But for live stream I need to put everything in one single track. My sound was very very quiet on my live stream. How can I check loudness of my audio mix on this 1 audio track?
Really useful video - thank you. My suggestion is slow it down a bit though. The info is great but you do rattle through it very, very fast. Thanks again.
I'm so frustrated! I am not streaming, just recording. I have game audio on track 1, mic on 2, and discord on 3. However, sometimes it works perfectly, and other times it only records game audio and doesnt record mic or discord, yet in the audio mixer, it shows that its picking these inputs/outputs up. Im beyond myself and infuriated at this point with the inconsistency of OBS. EDIT: I figured it out. Solution in comments!
@@zzzarius1638 I found a workaround. So it turns out that it was the media player I was using to preview my recordings. Most, if not all media players that I’ve found only plays the first track. There are ways to get other media players to play multiple tracks but here was my solution: I had 3 separate tracks I was trying to record. Game audio, my mic, and discord. So, in order to hear all of them in a media player to preview them I put all 3 on track 1, since the media players only play track 1. Then, I set game audio to track 2, my mic to track 3, and then discord to track 4. So when I open the recording in premiere pro to edit them, I just delete track 1 that has all 3 on it, and then I’m left with the remaining 3 tracks that have each thing separate. I hope that makes sense. Basically I make it so track one is just there so I can preview my clips without opening them in a video editing software. But when I do open it in a video editing software, I just delete the first track so all I’m left with are the 3 separate tracks that I wanted to begin with.
If you have your tracks set to record to multiple in your obs recording settings then there should be multiple. also make sure that your video editing software can handle multiple audio tracks
Which video editor are you using? I have tried everything and OBS is only outputting one file. My editor can run obs recording and a voice recording at the same time so I know it can handle two files.@@CpawsMusic
I have one thing ive been trying to fix for a while and have not been able to fix it and havent been able to record youtube or stream for a long time. When im recording or streaming, the audio coming out is really quiet and ive tryed everything to make it louder but nothing seems to work and im wondering how to make the audio louder so i can hear it witout having to max my headset volume on the videos for it to be a whisper
Thanks for the helpful video! I have an audio question. My gaming audio cuts in and out a lot when I record on OBS. My mic works just fine though. The game's music and other ambient sounds don't get picked up. Any advice on how to fix that?
@Mags Haha I wouldn't consider myself a tech wizard, I just have pulled out enough hair to take some guesses at what could be wrong 😂 Do you have any filters on the game volume at all in OBS?
I’m so confused on the recording volume track 1-6 does each number mean something different? Bc you’re saying track 2 is gain volume and three is inverse or whatever you said. I’m not understanding what you did and what the track numbers mean? Anyone know?
track numbers are just the number of audio tracks you're streaming/recording to. usually people use them to split audio so you can control them better in post-production
Ehhh. Looking for settings to basically use UA-cam audio for karaoke audio mixing in my voice, all synced /0 delay to my voice in the headset (of course) and record. No luck yet.
I have a question.... should I keep my alert on my twitch vods? I looked everywhere to see which items are best to keep on the vods and which are not recommended. Is there a video that talks about this?
Thank you my good man. You get a sub and like for this explanation. Very useful info for a novice like myself. Soccer stream post production video and audio editing.
I'm using razer headset that has a 7.1 surround sound. Every time I try to stream, it's no audio from my stream. So I just switch it to default audio instead of the 7.1 surround sound from my razer headset. How to add the 7.1 surround sound to OBS? Thanks!
Make sure you check the Audio Bitrate!!! My microphone sounded like a crunchy, static mess and I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was wrong! I set all channels from 160 bitrate to 320, and like magic my microphone audio was smooth as butter!
@CpawsMusic I've been coming to your channel for years to help me with OBS but now i am stuck with this annoying issue. While on stream my mics voice capture seems to be to high as in if i talk softly the mic won't capture my voice and it will result in my voice being cut off and i already have a booming voice if i think i am talking normally. I can't use my really use my normal voice since i stream while my other half is sleeping but my soft voice would be like your normal voice. So question is how to i get OBS voice capture to be more sensitive and not cut off every sentence. Thanks in advance and as always keep up the good work.
I'd honestly look into getting a more sensitive microphone, usually a condenser microphone would work better for you in this case over a dynamic microphone :D
@@CpawsMusic Thank for the reply but this is a new problem that i didn't have before and i haven't changed the mic but i think ill give the old un-install and re-install option a go see what happens. Hey, I'm having issue that my mic picking up my desktop audio. I've been looking for the fix but wasn't able to find one. Do you have any advice? Thanks

Hi, I saw your video and it was very helpful. But I came across an issue where the "monitor and output" function on OBS doesn't work during one time when I want to do a twitch stream. I tried to use discord to test my microphone and it can register just fine but I can no longer hear my own voice. Do you happened to know what could be the cause? Hi - Your videos have been incredibly helpful with getting me to use OBS. One issue I'm running into is capturing game audio whenever I turn on my gaming headphones. OBS completely stops capturing the game audio in my stream, and I've tried a bunch of different things to try and get it to work, but can't seem to get it right. My gaming headphones are wireless. Do you have any suggestions?
I'd check and see if your audio settings in obs are set to default, if they are, then they could be getting switched when you connect your headphones to your windows audio settings :D
@@CpawsMusic Thanks for the reply! I'm using a Mac to run OBS and streaming from Xbox Series X Console. I added my capture card as an audio input capture. I think I found a workaround by going into my Xbox settings and keeping the volume to headset and monitor even when my headphones are on, and just muting my monitor volume. Wondering if this is the most efficient, or if you might have other suggestions. Thanks again!
Okay maybe I’m missing something. Idk how to say this in the best way. Basically my desktop audio picks up my microphone so I have an echo because my stream is hearing it both from mic and desktop audio. How do I set it to where they can hear desktop audio/ also my mic but not audio from my mic inside desktop audio.
Make sure to wear headphones, otherwise the mic will pick up your computer audio through your speakers. Also make sure to mute your twitch stream if you're watching yourself on the twitch page
Ironically I ment to click on the Mic settings video and didn't realized till the end that you plugged the video BUT while watching I was downloading DaVinci Resolve to switch from Sony Vegas and was skeptical if it can import videos with multitrack audio because the "totally legit" version of Premire Pro I have can't do that it which is why I was using Sony Vegas, but Sony Vegas likes to clock out of work while I'm using it very often (aka crash) and legit, holds my videos hostage cuz it cant render a 30-45 minute 1080p video on my or my editors computer sometimes. AND that's when I saw you answer my question inadvertenly with you audio import test in DaVinci. I know it wasn't on purpose but I wanted to mention it so THANK YOU for solidfing DaVinci as my new editor and for the audio info. (Now I'm going to watch the Mic Settings video like I meant to lol)
Hello I'm having issues were my microphone (not headset) is picking up my game audio! I have a capture card and when I record totk the mic pick ups links hya hya but nothing else I haven't had any luck fixing it or figure out what it is?

Hey Cpaws, I have been watching your videos setting up my stream and have a question for you about my audio setup currently. I would appreciate it if you have a solution! Thank you in advance! I have an Xbox One X with an elgato HD60s capture card. I am using OBX studios as well. When I am in a party chat and am recording my videos, it doesn't record the party chat audio. It doesn't pick up any audio from my voice chat when streaming to Kick. I want my viewers to be able to hear my friends in the Xbox party chat. Can you help? Loving the content! Keep up the great work!
I would recommend trying to set the Xbox audio settings in your xbox to come out of both your headset and TV speakers. Usually that will force the capture card to capture all audio 😀
Hello So while trying to record videos I noticed that when I monitor the audio its super loud, but when I hear the audio played back once I'm done its super low what settings do I have to go through to fix it? please help
Great video!!! Thank you. However, I´ve been using a Scarlett Focusrite 18/8 and keep getting delayed from my desktop audio to the one the mic is picking up. How could I solve that?
So this video was very helpful, but I do wish that you brought up the fact that if you play it in any other media player other than an editing software, the multiple tracks won't actually play and you only get on track of Audio ( whatever audio plays first in the recording whether it be game audio or your mic audio). I spent an extra 2 hours trying to figure out why I couldn't hear the other audio tracks in the windows 11 player; to realize that it doesn't enable unless it's in an actual editing software 😅 I think that's the biggest thing that I have to get used to now after doing OBS recordings, because I can especially be forgetful when remembering my settings as it is😂
So when I start streaming and want to hear my gameplay on my headphones the viewers wouldn’t be able to hear the gameplay because I plugged in my headphones, how do I get it to work for both the viewer and me and I’m streaming switch
Hi , In my audio capture input in OBS , there is always some audio which is been captured, even though there is no any input given and that's and thats causing some noise disturbance as we stream ? What might be the problem ? Please suggest
Ive a problem. After Ive streamed, the audio in the vod is super low, you can barely hear it, tho the audio when I stream is good. Why is that? Is there a way to solve it?
When I stream FL Studio, the audio would be picked up via the desktop audio in OBS and it would be broadcasted to Twitch when I streamed to Twitch. Discord/Zoom you wouldn't need OBS.
@@CpawsMusic I use Obs because I have multiple scenes for my students. I dm'ed you on Discord to show you what I'm talking about, if you have availability to discuss.

Did you used to be a salesman in a previous career? Genuinely good feedback. You promote yourself well.
Haha the exact opposite, I have crippling anxiety 😂
I have never seen the multiple track explanation for recording, I can’t wait to set it up.
Heck yeah!!
Yeah bro RS you came in the video like i was feeling !

Hey Cpaws! I can't thank you enough for the help with this video. I've only recently started my YT channel, and the audio was all over the place. I am still having issues with the mic audio cutting out if I scream and was wondering if there is any way you may be able to help me fix this issue.
Sounds like it might be a filter triggering it. Take off all the filters 1by1 and add them back 1by1 to see which one is the culprit 😄
I was also wondering if you could go indepth more into the two track audios, one for mic/aux, and the other for the game audio. I've followed the video as you did but I'm not getting two track audios.
Nevermind. I got it in the next video I did after changing a setting.

not sure if this is correct or not, but I am currently using a mixer and I did setup that through the settings tab. however, when i exit out of settings and go back to basically the front page where it says audio mixer. i have have audio mixer then currently underneath that there is desktop audio and then mic/aux with the volume slider. so, my question is. when i watch a video or just watching your video through setup both of the faders are moving, desktop audio and mic. almost as if both faders are going through. and the mic is muted on the mixer itself. . is this normal or is there a way to seperate them or should the be? tia.

do you know a fix for game audio in obs sounding almost underwater or completely missing? I’m having a white noise sound and occasional (messed up) sounds come through but I can’t figure out how to fix it, no videos I find, no matter how helpful in other aspects, fix this specific issue

Sorry not sure about that!
Is there a way to use more than 1 audio track for live stream? I usually record every track separately like you show at the end. But for live stream I need to put everything in one single track.
My sound was very very quiet on my live stream. How can I check loudness of my audio mix on this 1 audio track?
I don't believe so unfortunately
any tips for making the game audio sound better while im playing, it sounds diffrent than when i don't have obs.
Sorry not sure about that
Really useful video - thank you. My suggestion is slow it down a bit though. The info is great but you do rattle through it very, very fast. Thanks again.
Thanks for the suggestion!
I would double check that your audio inputs are setup correctly and didn't accidentally get mixed around before your next recording
Did it ever work for you?
But when I do open it in a video editing software, I just delete the first track so all I’m left with are the 3 separate tracks that I wanted to begin with.
hey this is happening to me, did you ever find a solution?
@@Abel-gt5pq look in the comments above. I explained it already.
what if we can't get the addtional audio track to split? Should there be two files or one when the recording is over?
If you have your tracks set to record to multiple in your obs recording settings then there should be multiple. also make sure that your video editing software can handle multiple audio tracks
Which video editor are you using? I have tried everything and OBS is only outputting one file. My editor can run obs recording and a voice recording at the same time so I know it can handle two files.@@CpawsMusic
If you were to be on a call on an app such as discord. Is there a way to have game audio on but mute the call and yourself?
You'd likely need to split your audio sources
@ do you have a video of that for this situation?
I have one thing ive been trying to fix for a while and have not been able to fix it and havent been able to record youtube or stream for a long time. When im recording or streaming, the audio coming out is really quiet and ive tryed everything to make it louder but nothing seems to work and im wondering how to make the audio louder so i can hear it witout having to max my headset volume on the videos for it to be a whisper
but ive still leared a bunch of other good things from this, thnx!
What mic are you using?
Thanks for the helpful video! I have an audio question. My gaming audio cuts in and out a lot when I record on OBS. My mic works just fine though. The game's music and other ambient sounds don't get picked up. Any advice on how to fix that?
Do you think it's just too quiet or where do you think it's causing the issue?
@@CpawsMusic No, it's pretty loud. As I play it will come in and out. No clue what's causing it! Jealous of you tech wizards! 😅

You'd think they have it at 320 on default haha
What do you do is the sync offset doest change anything about the audio delay?
Not sure about that, sorry!

Thank you again for reading the comment.
Honestly not 100% sure unless you changed your monitoring device in your windows or obs settings

@@CpawsMusic I am wearing headphones. I’m referring to desktop audio in obs
@@CpawsMusic probably a lot harder to explain over text. Could we possibly talk over discord or something?

Hell yeah! Have fun with it! Love me some free Davinci hahaha

I would recommend trying to set the Xbox audio settings in your xbox to come out of both your headset and TV speakers. Usually that will force the capture card to capture all audio 😀

Sorry not sure about that :/
Very helpful, I've been voicing over this whole time xD
Hell yeah!! :D
So this video was very helpful, but I do wish that you brought up the fact that if you play it in any other media player other than an editing software, the multiple tracks won't actually play and you only get on track of Audio ( whatever audio plays first in the recording whether it be game audio or your mic audio).
I spent an extra 2 hours trying to figure out why I couldn't hear the other audio tracks in the windows 11 player; to realize that it doesn't enable unless it's in an actual editing software 😅
I think that's the biggest thing that I have to get used to now after doing OBS recordings, because I can especially be forgetful when remembering my settings as it is😂
Haha yeah I didn't realize that at the time of this recording but I've mentioned it in more recent videos (:
So when I start streaming and want to hear my gameplay on my headphones the viewers wouldn’t be able to hear the gameplay because I plugged in my headphones, how do I get it to work for both the viewer and me and I’m streaming switch
try using monitor + output on your game audio track under the advanced audio settings
