This is freaking awesome - it’s inspiring. I like your channel. Keep up the great content and I’ll definitely be following this journey. I played basketball as a kid, so this holds special importance to me. I had Air Jordans when the boys’ version were called Sky Jordans. They were red white and black - the original Jordans. My dad’s original Nike Air: Jordans were blue and black. I remember basketball before there WAS the Slam Dunk - when some of the Denver Nuggets were Alex English, Danny Schayes, Lafeyette “Fat” Lever and T.R. Dunn. This was back before Blair Rasmussen and Dikembe Mutumbo. I remember Karl Malone and John Stockton of the Utah Jazz. Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics - I had a 3/4-size basketball of his. Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar of the LA Lakers. Of course Scotty Pippen and Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls. I’m 46, I grew up vegetarian and started eating meat at 28. I never gave up the meat once I finally tried it. I feel better. 🔥🇺🇸
I had those Jordans, I only wore Jordans. Basketball was my passion. 5-11 though 😂 Despite the height I could however dunk tennis balls and on two occasions dunked a basketball. Man it was a rush when I did the basketballs, I was completely in the zone, didn't think about it, and just exploded upwards! I'm lucky to get 6" off the ground now, but Shawn is certainly inspiring me and I'm certainly rooting for him!
@@tradermunky1998 I am also 5’11”, 46 and I am going to try some of these exercises Shawn is talking about - with aspirations of the same goal - to dunk that basketball.

Those weighted jumps and speed pulls giving me tickles in my spine😮 An inversion table might be a good investment in the future to reverse the compression caused by those ill advised weighted jumps. I would prefer to hold dumbells in my hands rather than placing the bar in squat position
Got to say the thumbnail gave a little different picture! 😅 You got me inspired for carnivore diet, though it is more or less semi-keto, slow transition into meat. What salt do you recommend?
How can you do a carnivore diet on minimum wage? I can't afford steak though chicken thighs and 4eggs are not too expensive pork is also cheap but hard for our digestive system to process they eat everything all the bad stuff doesn't leave their meat.
Ground/minced meat, chuck, shoulder. And pork may bot be as good as beef but it's still one of the best foods. Only matters if you're especially sensitive.
Old Guy Carnivore's monthly food list was about 350$, and he was using almost exclusively beef, with the exception of bacon and eggs. The main thing is to avoid buying other tempting things that are a waste, like sodas and sweets etc.
Ryn Stills is a vegan powerlifter with world records . Why as a carnivore when you where his age where you / still aren't as as strong as him ? As someone who constantly talks about records and strength isnt the comparion between the two of you fair ?

Good post brov
Jeez dude, when I saw that thumbnail, I thought you had decided to end it all! 😳
You can do it with the help of KOTG training techniques.
^^^ this is the whey. Ben knows his business.
No, you really can’t. You do it with plyometrics, losing body weight, and gaining raw strength.
Jumping with all that weight on your shoulders is a terrible idea for your spine. Just because you CAN do it, doesn't mean you should.

Knees.
PT here, I dont see a problem with it. Avoiding hard things doesn't achieve your goals.
Yep, those too.
I know I’m supposed to get more out of this video, but all I can focus on is “this man is SIXTY?!?”
Nordic hamstring curls and tibialis raises or tibialis "curls" will help tremendously
way to go ... your videos keep me inspired
If my memory is correct, I’m pretty sure you have said that you’re 6’5?
Keep it up Doc! You’re changing the world!
👊 *No Mercy!*
Machine!
Sir your ankles lack mobility. I would suggest following Knees over toes guys. He really is legit.
You can do it!!! 👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏻💪🏻🎀
You should check out the knees over toes programs. They will keep you healthy while improving your vertical
Yes! Ben Patrick at Kneesovertoes to perfect the jump and then the dunk!
You’re not going to dunk from doing that training. You can jump higher from plyometrics, gaining explosive strength, and losing some weight
Thanks for this reminder
THE MEAT BOUNCER 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
🤣🤣🤣🤣brooo
Knees over toes guy... work those tibs!
I was thinking the same thing.
Working your tibias doesn’t make you dunk 😂😂
Awesome goal! Get it!

Congratulations doc . You're quite an inspiration .
Given that the hoop is five feet above my head, I never really considered dunking at any age.
Air alert, also other vertical programs......
Ah, the self deletion thumbnail. Just hanging around.
You inspire me
At 5'8 I will never dunk a basketball. I've had to come to terms with that. lol
Why not?
Just wondering, at 6'5" I'm guessing you could dunk when you were younger?
Ngl if u end up being able to do this, i'll be impressed.
t. Basketball player.
I'm 75 and I do 100 lb shoulder shrugs.
Do you have a trap bar? I think I'd rather jump with that than with a bar on my shoulders.
Yea, I cringed for his spinal disks with each jump.
turns out the surgeon knows more about how the body functions that some random soyboi pretending to be a king on the internet 😂
How tall are you Baker?
42.0" vertical leap minimum

thumbnail scared me. thought you epsteined yourself.
How tall are you ?
I think he’s 6’5”
Yeah i think they know now bio-mechanicly that weighted jumps dont work. If you want to jump higher you practice jumping higher
Tick tock.
You're tall to begin with and that's an advantage. Muscle where you don't need it? Not so much an advantage.
Must be nice to have money to pursue health.
???????

I can dunk a donut at 60! 🍩😂
