They had no idea about it! )) And they are still loved by us! :) BTW, I was there on this concert. Twas really GREAT and of cource unforgetable!!! :)

I saw an interview with Lars where he said he missed James's cue after the per-planed pause.(you can see Lars jump up at the beginning of the pause) Lars missed the first symbol strike and caught the second on the way back down to get seated. (if you listen close you can hear it), he severely cut his hand and was concerned that he may not be able to finish the show. You can see at the end of the song he jumps up and quickly exits the stage to seek medical attention. He got bandaged up fast and powered through the rest of the show.

The soviet union had just collapsed. This was the first major rock show with western bands in Russia. There were 1.6 million attendees, and the Russian police were trying their damnedest to keep things at bay, but you have a million people come to one place and ask ACDC, Metallica and Pantera to play, things are gonna get rowdy.

I cant believe how hard this still fucks in 2022. There is so much metal I enjoy today from modern bands that have far more moving parts and way more complicated movements but the delivery and execution of this heavy shit right here is timeless. Simple yet THICCCCC. Goddamn what I wouldnt give to see Metallica live when they were at their pinnacle and the most feared band around. I'm nostalgic for an era of rock I wasnt even alive for.
