I would love to paint my bed frame but I don't think I would be brave enough to paint it black Maybe maybe a nice creamy color but thank you for giving me this idea
Yes, I am considering painting my bed frame, but still looking at options. The black is very neutral and yet sophisticated. Thanks for the tips. I think it looks great! 👍
this bed frame is beautiful. i have a very old bed set that was my great grandparent's. then handed down to me and my sister. that is the exact same color im going to use. i can't wait to get started!
looks nice! A couple of tips; when washing [anything, really], use 2 buckets; a wash bucket [with detergent] and a rinse bucket. Put your rag in the wash bucket, and scrub away; *rinse the rag in the rinse bucket*; THEN put it back in the wash bucket. That way, 95% of the dirt goes in the wash bucket; and you save a ton of detergent. As the rinse bucket gets dirty, dump it out, and refill with plain water; your wash bucket [with the detergent] will stay clean for much longer. you don't mind changing out the rinse bucket frequently, since it's just plain water. Also, avoid painting in full sun; bad for the way the paint dries. Nice work, though, I'm sure the owner was happy : )
Holly this turned out beautiful! Black is quickly becoming a favorite furniture color. I'm sure your client is thrilled! And girl I feel your pain on the sun and dry time.
wow! it's going to be a lot of work, but you'll need to strip and sand. the stain on this is so dark and red. if you put a watered down white paint or gel stain right over it, it's going to look pink.
Could I ask how much paint did you need for this project? We have a queen size sleigh bed like this one and want to paint but not sure how much we need.
i completed this project a long time ago, and my memory is not very good to be honest. it would depend on what color the frame is currently, what paint you are using, and the color. if you are using a dark color like this, it will take 2-3 coats of paint to achieve full coverage. something lighter or white would require anywhere from 3-5 coats. my new favorite paint is Behr Dynasty, so I would highly recommend using that. the coverage is really great, and it has a built-in top coat which makes your project so much easier & faster. I would get a 16oz container to start. it's very affordable paint too, more so than chalk paint. I used it in this video if you'd like to see how to use it: ua-cam.com/video/NU0WbhIKh7M/v-deo.html
Beautiful! I LOVE it! We picked up a king size sleigh bed (last year, and still sitting in the garage) at a consignment/junk store for pretty cheap and I have been wanting to paint it but was unsure of the color. I want to paint it black, but was hesitant .... now i am not! :OD Thanks for this video!
Nice work Holly - it looks professional and I am sure your client will be more than pleased with the finished look and the quality job you have done! Bravo! MQH :-)
Looks great! I have never done anything like this. Ever!! I am thinking of buying an old bed on FB and making it look fresh and modern (something similar to this). Do you think that I would be able to follow along with these techniques and actually change the look of the wood stained bed without totally screwing it up?? It looks so simple and easy (sorta LOL) but you are a total pro
Thank you so much! It depends what you are trying to do with it. If you are wanting to paint it just like this, then you can definitely follow my steps and do the same thing. Let me know how it goes!
Looks pretty good. I know there has to be concessions, but I have found that spray paint works better on vertical surfaces and brush paint on horizontal. I do like your music.
I love using a paint brush. It’s extremely therapeutic for me and I love the artistic aspect of it as well. It makes me feel connected to my pieces. Maybe that will change in the future, who knows, but that’s why I don’t prefer spray paint. Thanks for watching 😊
You don’t have to. I prime almost all my pieces because I want them to be as durable as possible. I primed this piece because it will be used daily so I wanted the paint to adhere really well and make sure the paint job was durable.
I thought the video was super relaxing. I think if it bothered you so much that you would go so far as to leave a rude comment on someones video they put a lot of work into, you should probably consider finding a therapist.
I can't imagine thinking so little of myself that I'd actually take the time to make a negative comment about something so trivial as background music. I'm wondering if that made you feel good about yourself, if even just for a second. Oh, as a side note, there's a button you can click on your device that will allow you to exit the video. You should learn how to use it.

i actually already done it before. did not come out as good as yours tho...
Good for you! That’s very kind of you to say, but I’ve had a LOT of practice!

The black paint really looks so classy and timeless with an understated elegance. Kudos! Great job.
That is a beautiful way to describe it. Thank you ❤️

i use the two bucket method now. this video is pretty old. sun doesn't affect chalk paint in my experience, but thanks for the feedback!
I love that flat black. Nicely done, and thanks for sharing all your tips, too!
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it. 🤍
I gasped at how good the final product looks 😍my fav part is when you show how dirty the water is after cleaning omg
Aw thank you Heather! I’m glad you like it!
Yes-it’s so shocking how dirty everything turns out to be!!
Loved the black paint. I've just got some flat matt black for 2 bedside cabinets, it's great to know what the paint will look like 👍
Thank you! Glad I could help!! That sounds beautiful!
Beautiful finish! I love the black matte too!
thank you so much!

It’s a big favorite for me as well! Especially with the matte finish. So simple and pretty.
Yes-happy client for sure. Thank you ☺️
Thanks for that tip about how to prop up the bed frame to paint both sides at the same time! Really helpful! Love the black color
Happy to help! Thanks for watching!
I have the exact same piece of furniture. Any ideas of how to whitewash it? This looks great but I prefer the lighter wood in my bedroom. Thanks!

Nice job on the sleigh bed Holly. Looks great.🌷🌷
Thank you so much Cath 🤍
Another fabulous transformation! Well done, Holly 😀
Thank you, Ricky! :)
Nice! Would you use this on kids bunk bed? Don’t know if paint easily comes off.
The black is fantastic, very stylish and nice work! Really enjoying your videos and you explain everything so well.
Aw thank you so much! ❤️❤️
Looks good 👌🏼
thank you!
What were you spraying while painting
Sweet project, elegant! 🍭
Thank you!!

i had the same issue with that primer spray took it back and the second can was the same.
That’s good to know! I probably won’t use the spray format again. Not worth the risk!
Yes I bought a brown bed just to paint it black it’s was on sale only in brown but I wanted blk bed
🙌

Aw I'm so glad to hear that! You got this! 🙌 Let me know how it goes!!
@@ChicAntiquebyHolly Thank you! I will! (when we get to it, that is...lol)
So no sanding before priming?

You are nice chic and you did a nice job 😊
I didn't know you had to prime when you are painting the piece dark

Yes varnish is difficult to paint over that's why the primer was used. It can bleed colour through the new coats. I'd have used grey primer
Didn’t notice…did you paint the back of headboard?
Very classy looking, 👍
Yep, the whole thing is painted. Thank you!
is the clearcoat necessary?
yes! it seals the pores of the chalk paint and increases durability!
Have you considered investing in a spray paint system?
No, I'm not interested in spraying.
Hi Holly . The black looks Beautiful 👍 Can’t Get over How dirty it was !😩
Thank you!! Yes-it was much dirtier than it looked! 😳
Nicee
Thanks!
Thank you so much. I'm gonna flip my current bed until I can purchase a new one.
Yay! You are so welcome! Good luck ❤
👍👌
You went really heavy on your top coat. But looks great
i would have to disagree with you on that! but thanks :)
You can use woodglut to build it in the cheapest way.
Build what??? I painted this. There was no building involved here.
😂 But it looks streaky ?

Dramatic change,,,
Thanks!
No! I prefer the look of Wood over paint!
As much as I enjoy watching you paint the music that you using is horrible it's very jarring and it sounds like an ambulance
Lol what the hell kind of ambulances do they have in your country? Just turn down the volume and use captions if it’s so “jarring” 🥰

I LOVE this! I've been on the hunt for a similar bed frame for my room so thanks for the inspo!
So glad you like it & that I could help! Thanks for watching! 🖤
I bought woodglut instructions once and now I have lifetime access to thousands of woodworking projects.
What does that have to do with my video?
