I am gathering whats needed for building a trike the one thing I am having trouble with is the part shown 0:21 seconds of the video. Could you explain how you went about putting it together or is there something similar now? I want to be able to use the pedals if needed. Great build, thank you for sharing.
The part you are referring to is a 3 speed hub that is a stock part for the trike and it has 2 chains because it has built in gears.. it has nothing to do with the engine part of this trike and the sprocket for the engine is welded in place as shown in 1:09.. if you do leave the 3 speed hub do not use the reverse pedal braking or YOU WILL eventually twist and snap the axle.. I didn’t have to change anything about the 3 speed hub in order to add engine
Kind of depends.. if the frame is aluminum you have to buy a mounting kit cause you can’t weld.. if it’s aluminum the sprocket ⚙️ can’t be welded on in the place mine is you have to buy a sprocket that will mount to the spokes or fab a sprocket to go mid axle next to pedal chain but this is the hardest option.. other than that you’ll need a throttle cable and maybe to cut your cent clutch spring a little to get it to idle.. they sell kits online with everything you need
Check out my update videos on my channel.. the trike has 2 seats now and a radio that I have an overview video of that I also use to charge my phone and run LED ground effects which I’ll do and overview video on soon
@@gregaguerra no but when I ride it I’m not trying dog the throttle and since this video I got a new clutch and cut the spring down so it will idle in place with no one on it.. CHECK OUT UPDATE VIDEO
J-Gaming79 79cc would be closer to legal here in California.. I think the limit is 50cc but don’t quote me 😂.. I use it just to take my daughter to the park about a mile from home and sometimes around the neighborhood.. check out my update video that shows what it looks like with a seat welded over the engine
If you have a friction centrifugal clutch you have to shorten the spring by a link or 2 to get it to idle in place without clutch engagement and then try oiling it before you ride, it will take off a little slower but run smoother.. the shaking you describe for me is usually the clutch biting and most videos say don’t put oil in the clutch but they don’t have this setup and I’ve been doing it for years on the same clutch that was brand new when first installed. My chain purposely has a good amount of play in it as well not enough to come off the sprocket tho.
@@letsdoitourselves5322 It has a friction clutch, my chain has a bit of slack in it, but I have a spring tensioned roller that takes out the slack, that is the configuration that I changed to today. Before I had the chain tensioner mounted in a position whereas the roller was pushing the chain outward clamp to the fender support, it had a vibration in the geared wheel also. The clutch works well, I have no problem with it disengaging
@@wireeye2003 it’s not that it’s not disengaging it’s that it’s slam engaging if that makes sense.. only thing I can say is give the oil a shot worst that can happen is you gotta get another clutch.. I went through 3 clutches the first year before I realized a little oil was the trick and I keep some in a small bottle with me if I go on dirt roads and bike trails cause long distance and dirt make the oil wear off
51 is insane on a bike. I had a motorized bicycle and the hub smoked and siezed at 35. Are you using some sort of grease? I'm trying to make my adult trike. I already have a 10hp Honda engine
Winston Smith 10 hp is a lot 😂 but yea I use a oil dropper and drop some oil into clutch before every ride otherwise it’ll smoke and get shaky like in the video to where u almost feel like it’s gonna break the bike but it’s super smooth with the oil in the clutch.. this video was taken shortly after putting it all the way together and I put a brand new clutch on it after video but you definitely want to oil it every ride with 10w 30
miguel Rosario I put my sprocket where it is out of convenience and because it puts the power closer to the wheel. The convenience being the flat surface of where the axle shaft bolts on to the rim. I did have to flip the axle to make this work though because it used to be right wheel driven.
Most STATES have engine size requirements to qualify as a motorized bicycle. Usually anything over 49cc is not considered a bicycle any longer, but rather a scooter or motorcycle. Registration, insurance, and Driver's licenses are required to operate them on the roadway. It is better to keep it below 49 cc and keep it classified as a bicycle.
True 100% a fact BUT some cops don’t know the difference and the ones that do won’t say anything as long as it pedals and they don’t catch you doing over 25 mph they look the other way.. you might get a d*** cop so it’s still at your own risk but if I slap a 49cc sticker on it and remove all brand badges there’s no way he can tell me it’s not 49cc.. there’s no professional mini bike inspectors in law enforcement..
@@letsdoitourselves5322 it would still be breaking the law....don't think you can be slick and fool the cops...you might get the cop who's hobby is motorized bikes and could spot the illegal engine. Why not simply obey the law and not worry about getting caught?
I’m not telling anyone to break the law.. I’m just telling you my POV experience.. as long as I don’t fly by em they don’t care and will even compliment it.. I took it to a motorcycle meet once with my daughter rode it in a parking lot in front of 10 cops all thumbs up..
I mainly ride in my neighborhood but when I do see cops on main road I usually start pedaling and maybe press kill switch so they don’t here the engine. I also recommend a quiet muffler.. and don’t go fast just cruise.. California you can have up to 49cc on a pedal bike and this is 212 so remove sticker that says 212cc and hope you get an uneducated cop.. I’ve never been pulled over and the red is fairly new the engine was less noticeable in black. As long as you obey the direction of traffic, stay in bike lane, and follow the other laws you should be fine but I must say these are not legal to ride on the street unless your county allows this cc amount.. it all boils down to don’t ride like a d*ck and don’t turn heads just commute and mind your business
I have epilepsy as well and need to build one for getting around town and getting stuff home from the grocery store with. You be safe and god bless you drother.
The reason the engine was so rough and shaky was simply because the clutch wasn’t oiled so I got a new clutch and greased it up and it now runs smooth as a babies bottom 🍼 👶
i have one, its cool as hell im getting some mags to try out tomorrow and the rest of the axle parts by next weem {mail order kinda sux with trumps commie de joy running it}
Those things are just scary. 79cc Predator engine would probably get you 30 miles per hour. 212cc on a bike that really doesn't turn very well omg. But for some reason I really want one.
Marc Serina Check out my other videos on this bike.. i put another seat on it to ride my daughter to the park and store but I only go about 20 with her on it.. I’ve also reinforced the plate with another bar To help with shaking but it doesn’t shake as bad as in this video since the new clutch I put on it.. here’s a walk around of it with 2 seats ua-cam.com/video/rSk4JYBXb_w/v-deo.html
knockout champ56 it was shaking because the clutch was bad and was partially engaging.. I’ve since got a new clutch and now no shake also did some more reinforcing to the plate.. check out my update videos

WHAT SIZE IS THE CHAIN , SO THAT IT WILL FIT THE CLUTCH TEETH ??
Depends on what size sprocket ⚙️ and clutch you have. mine is size 420 chain but there are multiple sizes.
I'm looking to install a 79cc Preadtor on my Schwinn Meridian. Do you know of a list of parts I should be looking at?

Idk if this is sarcasm but assuming it’s not this was a voice over using some really cheap headphones.. you hear my fish tank in the background
That's awesome
Mine has a lot of vibration on the geared wheel, over 30 mph, I can't seem to find the cause
