Valerie was one of my favorite characters. At first I didn't like how she was just another popular girl because I frankly hate that trope. But as she evolved into the ghost hunter she would become, I came to appreciate her more and more. She's definitely the tragic antiheroine of the series.
There was one point where the creators more or less insisted that the ghosts were just separate entities and not spirits of the dead, but episodes like the dog episode really make it obvious that it was a retcon to appease Nickelodeon rather than the original intent
I wish she had a better send off besides her smiling in Phantom Planet. But her story overall was fascinating. I would have liked one more episode of her going against Vlad.
Valerie made more sense with Danny because they could legit be real ghost hunter- super heros. Like same was just a civilian who wanted everyone to live by her way of life low key. It just felt like she tried to hard to be “not like other girls”. It would have been fine if Danny and Sam had got together early on but broke up and move on to different people but still became friends. Also Tucker needed a glow up, I felt like they didn’t do his character justice.
I think the reason people don’t recognize Danny is because of two possibilities. The first one is the “in plain sight” trope that most super heroes have. Superman looks exactly the same, just with glasses. Same with Wonder Woman. It could also be that people don’t know humans can change into ghosts, so they could think “hey that ghost looks like Danny, but Danny isn’t dead, and ghosts aren’t alive, so it couldn’t be him.” If jacks family is based in town, it could be brushed off as an ancestor or something. I dunno, good for thought.
Yeah if Jack's family is there, "brother of Jack's ancestor is haunting the town" makes a lot more sense than "Danny is a ghost" in a world where ghosts exist.
It seriously broke my heart. Those pups were just good little guards. I bet when they weren't doing the guard dog job they were the best little babies. I was sobbing because I realized instantly.
No one is going to mention that Vlad basically gave a depressed 14 year old an entire arsenal of weapons. I know it is a cartoon but that has to be pretty dark for Nickelodeon
This same cartoon implies death in dark ways too (ex. the dogs very likely being put down by Axiom or with their blessing), and The Ultimate Enemy's a whole thing in and of itself.
@@hugocifuentes1804 I know it's cruel. look at from vlads point of view, it's very convenient for him to take advantage of valaries mental situation. she's already pissed with Danny, giving her a box of untested weapons and ride sounds like a smart and risky decision. If it works, and it did. it makes a distraction and possible disposal of the one person in the way of his goals of getting even and destroying Jack and harassing Maddie to point of remarriage to him. if it fails, he makes national news and vlads masters look bad in the public eye.
@@caitlinbrock357 High risk, high reward. But Vlad would have to have something worth Maddie's while to trap her like that. Like how Biff did it with Lorraine in Back to the Future 2. Simply getting Jack out of the picture won't be even CLOSE to enough.
Val seems to be the only person on this show who has a legitimate reason to destroy ghosts, they ruined her old life. Whereas many of the other hunters like the Fentons (Jack n' Maddie,) the so-called Extreme Ghostbreakers and that Mystery Inc. knock-off with the white tiger all seem to be doing it for fun. At the same time, though; Valerie became a bit of a better person, after the incident. Sure, she lost her friendships with the popular kids...but those people were all horrible, even to their own crew. Meanwhile, she gained a more authentic friendship with Danny later in the series; even dated him for a while
She definitely deserved better in the long run! She’s a very well written character that had a lot of potential to really make a big impact on the story imo.
Ugh, YES. I also hate the trope of best friends ending up together, like men and women aren't ever allowed to be friends. It would have been more progressive to have him end up with her, and also allow Val to keep her equipment that gave her abilities and become an ally of Danny. Better writing, too, and less cliche.
A few things. 1. I’ve been a fan of yours for sometime. You even helped inspire me to talk about these show’s & characters on my own channel from time to time. 2. Today is actually Cree Summers’ birthday who played Valerie, Suzie from Rugrats, Miranda from Ginger etc. 3. I would say my favorite ghost is Ember because I really love her backstory before she died. I wish all the ghosts were given that treatment. It’s hinted here & there like Pointdexter, the Dragon Lady, Deseree, but not all of them.
I feel like box ghost got into a box making factory accident, I theroes skullker got assassin by another assassin, lunch lady died by over weight. Johnny and kitty died in a motorcycle accident, the wardens ghost probably died by in inmate lol
So, another theory regarding the origins of the ghost dog. Vlad. He has a history of "making ghosts" especially animal based ones. I could easily see a scenario where he, as an extremely wealthy business man with fingers in who knows what companies, arranged for Axion to "replace" the dogs. He then sics that ghost dog on Valery and her father, pushing them into financial ruin. He conveniently knows about their trouble, but also has ghost hunting equipment already designed and fit for Valery. He's crazy enough to ruin someone else's life just so that they will become an issue for Danny.
I know this gets said a lot in comment sections, but your comment is really underrated as it makes way too much sense, though I would think they'd add a line in the episode that said "Thanks to the donation of a wealthy donor, we were finally able to get rid of those dogs". That wealthy donor could have been anyone, of course. However, it would definitely go a long way in confirming your theory.
it took me until this video to find out that they killed the dogs. i believed that it was all vlads doing for the dog and ruining valeries life. there is no way he knew anything was going to happen like this unless he was plotting it. its very bizarre hed be just watching valerie long enough to make her weapons and suit if she never had a reason to fight ghosts. he had to be involved more than we saw
@@LionWithAGun Same! But once you notice the dog is already trained, has an Axion collar, the line about "getting rid of their guard dogs," and Ghost Dog's toy being AT Axion itself.. it paints a really grim picture.
I forgot that the opening to this episode was with the idea that the dog was killed, so hearing it brought back-up here just reminded me just how heartless and what snotballs people can sometimes be. However, the way that Danny treats it after it was killed, is more heartwarming.
I own cats and they love boxes so whenever I gotta throw away their old boxes I will go around in my best Box Ghost voice and say playfully loud “I AM BOX GHOST! FEAR ME!!!” And pick them up in their boxes.
Valerie was an amazing addition to the show it showed how you can be completely obsessed with anger towards someone and she was voiced by the great Nickelodeon OG voice actress Cree Summer
Fun fact it’s been proven many times that people suck at recognizing each other if something is different my friends and my mom didn’t recognize me at first when I dyed my hair blonde from its usual dark brown I had to say hey it’s me
Same, I suck at putting names to faces, in high school my English teacher had glasses I didn't recognize her since I've never seen her with them before, I even asked to see her i.d.
I always wanted Danny and Valerie together as a kid. I didn't like the trope of the two best friends dating. Plus Danny and Valerie had better chemistry together as a couple.
As someone who had a crush on Danny as a kid, I wanna say him. But I also enjoy writing series fanfics of this world and the Box Ghost is just fun to write (Technus joins him in being fun to write). But I think my favorite ghost would have to be Wulf. I wish they had done more with his character.
Technus was always one of my favorites 😆 I couldn’t agree more with Wulf though! There was a lot of cool potentially there that they could’ve done way more with!
I love the dragon girl. Her design is awesome, and I think that the dragon amulet could have been made into an interesting recurring tool for the ghost hunters.
6:25 That's really messed up but sad because a lot of man/woman do try to ask someone out when they are mental unwell or under a lot of stress because there's a higher chance that they might say yes due to not being in the right state of mind
@@kagemaru397 Defo- that and Dipper's intentions were a lot better in the sense where Robbie was actually trying to manipulate her and Dipper while having a crush on Wendy- that wasn't his only reason as to why he wanted to help and protect her.
Danny Phantom has Sailor Moon syndrome. Like, what's really that different between Usagi and her alter ego to explain why no one can recognize her? Same with Danny, eh?
Yes! I always loved the idea of Danny keeping Ghost Dog, since he'd make for the perfect companion in peace times, and a great body guard in fights, lol. But then I guess Ghost Dog did make a mess of Valerie's life, so I can see why he'd view that a risky idea. Still a badass concept though!
Growing up Vlad and Desiree were my favorites. I rewatched the show last month, and I have many more favorites now. Technus, Box Ghost, and Skulker are also on that list now.
My favorite Ghost in the Series is definitly Dark Danny. That Guy was a *MENACE* the entire special long and was a good "dark mirror" type Villain! I also love your Analysis Videos. They bring me nostalgia and give me a new Perspective to most Shows I once only viewed as a kid. Thanks for everything!
Thanks so much for your kind words, my friend! I’m glad you enjoy the videos! I can’t wait to make a video covering Dark Danny. Such a compelling part of the story!
@@DuskTillShawnYou are welcome! I also have to admit that you have a very calming voice to listen to! And speaking of voice- The ghostly wail, Dark Dannys signature, is also a reason why I like him. A single yell that can level a city is not just impressive, but horrifying as a concept. Perfect for a ghost!
This show always has a special place in my heart, even if Butch Hartman turned out to be an unhinged, degenerate egomaniac. I guess I will honor the other contributors to the show, like Steven Silver.
My favorite ghost is: Vlad Plasmus. Because of his backstory on how he got his ghost powers and he is the opposite of Danny. I also like past Teen Vlad's look. May you please do more Danny Phantom videos that includes Vlad?
He was actually a young adult in his flashback as he was in college then. Also, is it just me or did Vlad get hotter with age? He started out already pretty cute as a college student and grew to be a middle aged hottie. 😄😘
My favorite ghost is definitely Danny Phantom! And not because he's the main character necessarily, but rather because he was childhood icon for me. Danny was always one of my favorite animate MCs because he's both extremely relatable and admirable at the same time. He was a loser and "geek" that was socially awkward, but blossomed into a respectible badass once he found a higher sense of purpose. He doesn’t use his powers for social status, and eventually what other people think stops mattering to him because HE knows awesome he is. It made me feel like I could blossom into that kind of person too 💚 Plus, he's just got an iconic design and power set that really makes him stand out. Truly wish the show could've had a better run (you just know that if were being made in the 2010s or 2020s, it would been treated a LOT better).
I mean, it was Val’s dad’s fault in the first place. It was her own dad’s fault for deleting the guard dogs in the first place. If they didn’t do that cruel thing, none of that stuff would have happened. Maybe they were cursed by the dog
That's just a theory, we don't know if he's the one that ordered them to be put down, that could've just been his boss who seems like he wasn't fond of the dogs anyways. Her father just made the security system, that's it.
My favorite ghost is Sidney Poindexter, if only because I was also bullied a lot in school and that negativity manifested as aggression that got me unfairly in trouble on more than a few instances.
@@kagemaru397 I can’t remember exactly either but I know it had to do with a romance, a cheater and in some way, it caused her death. Also, feel free to anyone to correct me if I’m wrong. It has been ages since I have seen the show
@@kagemaru397 I believe the wiki says that she wanted to be a rock star in life, started dating a guy she had a crush on, got stood up after waiting for him all night, fell asleep and didn't wake up when her house caught fire.
Valerie was a tragic character, but also a frustrating one. It was easy to feel sorry for her because her conflict with Danny began as a result of her dad getting fired, but her attitude both before and after made it seem like she was more upset about not being able to spend her dad's money than she was actually sympathetic to him for losing his job. She boasted about how much of his money she spent on clothing, and continued to make fun of him after he got fired, even when he got a new job.
No. Because their relationship is built on lies. Plus, she selfishly broke up with him because she cares more about being an antiheroine than she does his feelings.
@@codymerrell5387 perhaps. I just meant as a super hero story telling trope as the alternate (and also masked) love interest. Logically it would make more sense to have a "super" significant other because you wouldn't have to abandon them to save the day or worry about them and so on AND if the writings good the (which it is for Val) there should be a large contingent of fans who want that to happen. But, in my opinion if Catwoman/Blackcat/Valerie does become the hero's partner in the streets and the sheets, then that eliminates the 'will they/won't they' that TV especially thrives on from both Sam and Val. Plus one less interesting antagonist for our hero.. just thought of this: the fact they go to the same school and both fight ghost but for different reasons is a different will they won't they. Another credit to the writing, they should be on the same team and we want them to be but their reason's for fighting are in opposition.. plus known you got a math test and you will sit next to a ghost hunter with a backpack full of equipment that will hurt you and she wants to use it, brings a whole new level to the term "test anxiety" lol.
My favorite Danny Phantom character is definitely Ember McLain. Being a lover of both horror and music, I love that she is a ghost singer. I also looked at your other videos, and found one on the Invader Zim crime case. That reminded me of how I first found out about Ember, Due to her having some involvement in another true crime case that I think you should make a video on. It involves a guy named Randy Stair, who was really obsessed with Ember. He believed that she was real and that he would join her in her ghost squad when he died. I’m sure you can guess what he did next. Though I found out about her and by extension the show itself through this case, I still very much enjoy her. For starters, her song is a complete bop! I’m so sad she only has one song. I also love her personality, especially when she calls everyone dipstick. Her lines are so quotable. I hope you will make a video on the Randy Stair case soon.
I just want to say your perfectly fine for not sticking to your schedule and being sporadic the past little couple months. Thats completely understandable. Dont feel forced to push yourself just to suit a schedule when you aren't able to! I'm just happy to see your videos when you get the chance to upload them!
My favorite ghost was Frostbite, where I loved his design, along with how he was an ally to Danny rather than an enemy, unlike most of the other ghosts. This episode was rather intriguing, where Vlad is shown to be quite the manipulator and creates more enemies for Danny. However, Valerie becoming one of his love interests was quite interesting for the relationship and plot. However, I have a problem with the episode because Damon, Valerie's dad, gets fired/demoted because their technology isn't prepped for ghosts. It felt unfair toward the guy and Valerie, though it's hard to empathize with the girl since she acted relatively shallowly in this episode.
On the subject of Sam Not having any empathy for Valerie: considering that Sam comes from a rich family (and generational wealth) she might simply Not realize what it means to be poor/lose everything. Danny and Tucker are middle class so not poor, but certainly they can relate more to her than Sam can/wants to Gotta says these days I'm much more critical of Sam as a character than I was back when the show was airing. Sam used to be my favorite. Now I like Valerie much more, though I always thought she was cool.
See I see Sam not having empathy for a similar, but different reason. Like Sam, Valarie had a lot of money. But unlike Sam, she's flaunted it about, using it to be a huge jerk to everyone she sees as beneath her. Sam has a very black and white view point when it comes to how others should behave, stemming more from her "rebel" personal beliefs rather than her family's wealth. Sam believes that using money or looks to influence others is toxic and she immediately cuts off people engaging in that behavior. For Sam, Valarie would need to say she was sorry and that her actions were wrong before she extends sympathy. Until then, Sam will just see Valarie as a girl that had the same choices as her, but choose to behave badly, and is therefore justified in her "punishment".
@@DrTimes99 thats a great Point I hadn't considered! Sams Black and White thinking is one of the reasons why I am not as fond of her as an adult than I was as a teen.
@@DrTimes99I had the same thought but didn't know how to express it. Sam despises Valerie instead of just being apathetic, like Valerie's rich/popular friends were. And well, the reason why she does that is because of what you pointed out. Being the kind of person that makes her despise being rich on the first place and want to hide that part of her life so much. Glad someone can have this outlook on that character Interaction.
I also think it’s because Sam is very much in the middle of “i’m not like the other girls phase”. She no female friends throughout the entire show. i always thought that was odd as a kid and always found her to be in relatable. I don’t think i liked either of Danny’s friends
Dang dude, this is awesome ✨ Much appreciation for this character analysis and your personal inputs! I laughed when you mentioned how offensively expensive Valerie's wardrobe is, I rooted when you pointed out how Tucker was being more predatory than genuinely kind and doesn't seem to know what the word "No" means (very validating to hear others express these acknowledgements; especially for me, who others automatically see as a female and target on a basis) AND I was like "HECK yeah!" that you labelled Vlad as the stalker he is lol technically stalking A HIGH SCHOOLER To use people while they're at low points is a real and common tactic. Tactics are to achieve motives, which are very often selfish. Understanding such things even through a cartoon/show/book/story, can impact how an individual handles their life and behavior. Understanding is power and breakdowns like these help unlock that power! Thank you for what you do! ! I would have loved to watch these videos as a kid while the shows were airing 😆 which means.. there ARE kids out there watching these shows for the first time now, and they can enjoy these videos freshly after! Kind of like when someone wants to talk about a story they just enjoyed but they're friends & family don't have time OR it's very difficult to word out all the intricate thoughts & curiosities 💬🪻🎶💭 Best wishes for all of us, you & your family and again, thank ya for being who you are and all of your efforts! 🌠
Thank you for everything Shawn!!! I work long and crazy hours and I love coming home and watching your videos. I really wish you and your family the best! As a psychology major, I really enjoyed your thoughts and analysis on these videos. Honestly, I can relate to Danny In this episode, there has been times others have lashed out at me with malicious intent, but I continued to try to help them. And I can relate with Valerie as a teen where I had a one track mind laser focused on revenge to somone who wronged me and was willing to do whatever to get back at them. Overall I loved this show a lot as a kid and hope you continue to do this series. Thanks again bro!! 🙌🙌
Well, I mean, the guy in charge literally said in his own words: "We should have never gotten rid of those dogs". One does not use the phrase "gotten rid of" when referring to something that still exists and can be used again, it is used to refer to something that cannot be used, that was disposed of; IE the dogs were put down. Otherwise, the owner could have simply gotten them back.
2:46 Oh that’s a tough one . Although my favourite character I have to say is the principal. I enjoy catching what book title he’s gonna shout in place of a curse word
To address the “no one recognizes the protagonist” trope, it’s probably a case of the Sailor Moon effect - in that the form we see the MC take in their “superhero” form is for clarity to the viewer only, much like the longevity of any transformation sequences and any other flourish. To people in the world of the show, they just see a flash of light and a throughly disguised person shows up. We actually get a glimpse of that throughout Danny Phantom too - the transformation sequence in looking all fancy for cinematic effect takes several seconds, but it happens in a flash when needed narratively. So it’s likely he also appears differently too, to the naked eye of regular denizens in universe
Valerie's social status was always difficult to define, because in some moments she was close with the popular crowd, hanging out with Paulina and Star, or being invited to the Dumpty Humpty concert by Kwan. But in many other moments, she's a complete loner, sitting by herself at lunch, never hanging out with other students after school, and generally being ostracized by the rest of her peers. But in a way that's kind of an accurate portrayal of what it can be like to be friends with "popular kids." They're quick to turn their backs on you as soon as there's a reason for them to ridicule you.
While Irrelevant to the Valerie storyline but while watching the first half of your video I just realized that the boss of Valerie's dad said with Valerie's dad new security technology that "those dogs are a thing of the pasts!" Giving how this show works with ghosts and all this actually gives off VERY dark implications that went over my head as a kid that that means the boss ACTUALLY put down all those innocent guard dogs because they wasn't useful anymore! That also implies that the puppy Danny was looking after until he found his toy was ONE OF THOSE GUARD DOGS THAT GOT PUT DOWN!! And that's also explains why he was so well trained when Danny tried to train him and also could explain why he kinda got angry with Valerie when she was around! Especially in the lunchroom scene! that's so sad and dark! 💔
I remember my first watching Danny phantom. I was in my Mom’s friends place sitting infront of a fireplace with the tv above it. The friends husband came in and said it’s not for his age but he loved watching it. We even ate walnuts and watched a couple episodes together. I loved them like they were my own aunt/uncle! So this show brings back good memories
While Jazz is my favorite female character, I always loved Valerie. She was very interesting and had a lot more depth than many other characters on the show. She has clear motivations and tuned her hardships into strength. She takes matter into her own hands and excelled as a ghost hunter. For that lone, her dynamic with Danny was much more interesting and i’m gonna admit I did him with Val. Enemies to lovers is just too good
I loved the fact that most people assume that Sam is a loser and poor but she’s easily more rich then any of those kids her house has so many rooms , a bowling alley , movie theater sam just don’t think she better then everyone because of it
I found it odd that the guard dog went from friendly to aggressive, but as a guard dog, that could just be the way the dog was taught to play. I also thought repeatedly showing up at the school, even digging under the bleachers for the squeaky toy.
Just want to chime in about the SpongeBob "Wormy" episode...I'm 32 and I have 3 siblings: twin brothers who are 2 and half years younger than me and a sister who is 9 years younger than me. So we all loved SpongeBob (still do) and me and my brothers remember it premiering and everything. Of course our sister was born a couple years later and grew up watching it too...BUT for the first 5 years of her life she would ONLY watch the Wormy episode on repeat 😑 We had to record it on our DVR and had to rewind every time it ended. My dad would say "why don't we watch this episode?" and she would SCREAM if you changed it or suggested changing it, nope it HAD to be Wormy 😮💨 We got so tired of it even though it was also one of our favorites too, but man just one episode on repeat will make you despise it 😂 We mess with her about it now and she thinks it's funny too!
I'm sorry but I gotta say it... Butch Hartman really pisses me off with how he wrote Tucker because why does Tucker have to be such a darn creep. I wanna like him because he's a black character with a fitting design yet everytime you just can't because he's so damn predatory. Why when cartoonist write some black characters they gotta always have some vile gross personality traits rather than being tame and relatable than the other characters/protags. Like come on man Also I really believe that it be better they written more Sam and Valerie interactions because I feel like they'd become good friends and honestly they have a lot in common. I'd like to see Sam have more female friends because this may sound off to some folk.. despite how Valerie looks down on Sam-Sam looks down on other girls just for being girly and popular. I think this cause like it be nice if Sam had a character arc in which she understands that a girl doesn't have to be of her status or less of a gurl just to be her friends and same goes for Valerie. Sam and Valerie would really make great friends and I stick with that thought
I’m on Team Wulf here. His claws can tear through dimensions!! I feel bad for Valerie to an extent but dont forget she WANTS to KILL Danny for what happened to her dad and his job and her attitude doesn’t help though. Tucker was being a creep now that I think about it. RIP to the voice actor of Vlad he recently passed away. Poor guard dogs didn’t deserve to be put down like that 😭
Someone close said this to me in my darkest point an i hope it resonates "I'm not going to lie to you an say what happened will get better because some things just [censord] don't but with Time You Will Day by Day" Stay strong an much Love.
For so long us fans wondered what would be Valerie’s reaction if she found out Danny’s secret. In the last episode, all she did was applaud Danny when he revealed his secret. Idk bout everyone else but my reaction to that was the only negative reaction to the finale! Like she doesn’t care? She’s not upset at all? She’s happy? So many questions. Regardless, Danny Phantom was an amazing series that unlike a lot of other series, didn’t drag on and got a satisfying conclusion. Yes i would have liked to have seen more, but some series aren’t lucky enough to get a finale. I’m aware of the comic that continues the series and I’m sorry, I don’t like it and it’s non cannon to me. I hate reset buttons in continuity! The finale finally treated Danny well, after all he’s been through, and the comic undoes all that and I don’t like that.
No lie, I'm an advocate for Val and Danny's relationship. It, to me, felt like a more well built foundation for shipping them. From enemies to friends to a relationship. I feel like Danny and Sam's relationship wasn't concentrated on, so it felt like a surprise just because PLOT. Anyway, it is what it is. R.I.P to your father

Something I always found funny about Quan is that he’s kinda like the anti Dash, he’s a big, popular football jock just like him yet he’s nice and prefers not to bully anyone, when Valerie asks him to beat up Danny he literally tried to take the pacifist route and talk things out rather than beat Danny up, and every time he speaks he doesn’t sound like a bully jock, he sounds like a nice kid, I think it’s interesting having 2 characters be the big jocks yet both of them are completely polar opposites when it comes to their personalities
My favorite ghost is probably Undergrowth, his episode scared me when I was younger... Desiree is a fun ghost as well, and Danny Phantom is a amazing ghost, evil version or not.
I like how because Valerie's popular they were able to recognize her by her voice. But because danny isn't, no one can tell it's him with his whole face out
Please cover the island from catdog someday, it is one of my all time favorite episodes. And also, cover the marvelous misadventures of flapjack too. I don't care what people have to say about both CatDog and Flapjack, for me they are awesome shows I love watching a lot, and still do to this day. And I even find them better than adventure time too.
I don't necessarily agree with the idea that Axiom killed Cujo and the other dogs. It's more likely that they were left with a shelter and either they were all deemed too aggressive for rehoming or just Cujo was unable to be rehomed. Still sad.
My favorite villain Penelope Spectra. However that is mostly driven by my hatred of guidance counselors and therapists. My favorite ghost overall is Clockwork. We don't see much of him. But he is always in the back of my mind when I watch this show. He claims he doesn't pull strings but his actions say otherwise. So I'm always thinking “Could Clockwork have played a role in this?”
I've seen some people who wanted Danny and Valerie to be endgame and honestly, if Sam wasn't there I'd agree. Makes for an interesting story that she'd be hunting down her boyfriend without knowing. How would the reveal go? Would Valerie then give up ghost hunting, break up with Danny or join him? Quite a few possibilities

Most reasonable. They don't think people can turn into a ghost and not be dead.
Surely the pipeline from ancestor- ghost hunter family- ghost in town that helps people adds up
Yeah if Jack's family is there, "brother of Jack's ancestor is haunting the town" makes a lot more sense than "Danny is a ghost" in a world where ghosts exist.
Superman as Clark Acts like a clumsy bumbling fool which helps his Case of not being superman
Also, no one believes that Superman would waste his time being a reporter. Same reason no one would think that a ghost needs to attend school.

@@hugocifuentes1804
I know it's cruel. look at from vlads point of view, it's very convenient for him to take advantage of valaries mental situation. she's already pissed with Danny, giving her a box of untested weapons and ride sounds like a smart and risky decision. If it works, and it did. it makes a distraction and possible disposal of the one person in the way of his goals of getting even and destroying Jack and harassing Maddie to point of remarriage to him. if it fails, he makes national news and vlads masters look bad in the public eye.
Nope. This is during a time where a lot of the more successful cartoons were more goth-centric and dark humored. It fit right in
@@caitlinbrock357 High risk, high reward. But Vlad would have to have something worth Maddie's while to trap her like that. Like how Biff did it with Lorraine in Back to the Future 2. Simply getting Jack out of the picture won't be even CLOSE to enough.
@@HeyitsBri_
I applaude butch hartman and his writing team for coming up with this high risk high rewarding idea.
Meanwhile, she gained a more authentic friendship with Danny later in the series; even dated him for a while
I find it hilarious that Danny compares the dog to Dash.
They're both voiced by Stuart Scott Bullock.
I ALWAYS shipped Danny and Valerie and it sucks that she was reduced to another disposable black love interest.
She was way too good for the show so Butch just ruined it all 😭
but what her being black got to do with it LOL
@@CrispyChips007 exactly, right away got to play the victim black person
Agreed, that shirt was offensively expensive
This theory sickens me. They say sociopaths are especially dangerous to animals.
Team Box Ghost here. Rob Paulsen is one of my favorite voice actors, and his talents really shows in the cartoons he's involved in.

I remember one episode where Val found out Vlad real identiy and found out the truth about Vlad was just using Val to get revenge on Danny.
Technus was always one of my favorites 😆
I couldn’t agree more with Wulf though! There was a lot of cool potentially there that they could’ve done way more with!

Danny Phantom has Sailor Moon syndrome. Like, what's really that different between Usagi and her alter ego to explain why no one can recognize her? Same with Danny, eh?
The only difference is his white hair and green eyes so it's not like his transformation changes his height or hides his face or anything else.
Sailor moon (or at least in the manga) explain that their magic distort their appearance to outsiders when in their sailor forms
Pretty much like crocker where the very villain she is facing is the one who ruined her life even into the future
Danny shoulda kept that dog lol saved him a bunch of times. Strong af

@@alexv3372 That's why I say, "To hell with Maddie, Vlad. There are plenty of women who are as smart and maybe as beautiful as her!"
It made me feel like I could blossom into that kind of person too 💚
Plus, he's just got an iconic design and power set that really makes him stand out.
A literal kindred spirit.
My favorite is Ember Mclain. Her backstory is absolutely devastating

36:20 you have to remember the popular kids are acting on teenager logic where who your around affects your status (for some reason).
To answer your favorite ghost question, I had a huge crush on Ember when I was younger. Mind you, this was 2005 and I was 11.
Understandable. I was 13-14 myself back then and thought she was hot.
On the subject of Sam Not having any empathy for Valerie: considering that Sam comes from a rich family (and generational wealth) she might simply Not realize what it means to be poor/lose everything. Danny and Tucker are middle class so not poor, but certainly they can relate more to her than Sam can/wants to
Gotta says these days I'm much more critical of Sam as a character than I was back when the show was airing.
Didn't think of it like that.
I also think it’s because Sam is very much in the middle of “i’m not like the other girls phase”. She no female friends throughout the entire show. i always thought that was odd as a kid and always found her to be in relatable. I don’t think i liked either of Danny’s friends

I laughed when you mentioned how offensively expensive Valerie's wardrobe is,

Overall I loved this show a lot as a kid and hope you continue to do this series. Thanks again bro!! 🙌🙌
Well, I mean, the guy in charge literally said in his own words: "We should have never gotten rid of those dogs". One does not use the phrase "gotten rid of" when referring to something that still exists and can be used again, it is used to refer to something that cannot be used, that was disposed of; IE the dogs were put down. Otherwise, the owner could have simply gotten them back.

Oh that’s a tough one .
Although my favourite character I have to say is the principal.
I enjoy catching what book title he’s gonna shout in place of a curse word
She made a better girlfriend than Sam with how she wants people to conform to her unconformities
Considering that she is 14 at the time, I can't hold that to her just yet.
$579??!!!!!!! FOR THAT BASIC AZZ PURPLE SHIRT? THATS CRAZY talk
jesus!
😭🥀
This was cool af, I loved this show as a kid but forgot a lot of the Eps in the last... Almost 20yrs. U deff gotta do more of the vlad/Danny Eps.
Ember is so cool I’d love to see a video about her, as an adult she kinda got ruined for me tough for obvious reasons everyone knows.
I remember my first watching Danny phantom. I was in my
Mom’s friends place sitting infront of a fireplace with the tv above it.
I honestly like Valerie as a character and a main love interest towards Danny Fenton instead of Sam.
Ember McLain. I loved her music!
I didn't really like Valerie as a kid either.
but looking back as an adult, she didn't deserve half of what her writer's put her through. 🙁
Like come on man
Also I really believe that it be better they written more Sam and Valerie interactions because I feel like they'd become good friends and honestly they have a lot in common.
Well said.
Never knew I need till now.. 💔 I _love_ the idea of a slow burn Sam and Valerie friendship!

Like…cadence, word choice, the way the paragraphs are structured. I’m just geeking over linguistics rn. ✨🤭✨ I’m being serious, but typing it out feels so unserious! Like✨👀✨ and then I gotta READ IT?!✨💀✨
Something I always found funny about Quan is that he’s kinda like the anti Dash, he’s a big, popular football jock just like him yet he’s nice and prefers not to bully anyone, when Valerie asks him to beat up Danny he literally tried to take the pacifist route and talk things out rather than beat Danny up, and every time he speaks he doesn’t sound like a bully jock, he sounds like a nice kid, I think it’s interesting having 2 characters be the big jocks yet both of them are completely polar opposites when it comes to their personalities
I truly feel bad for the dog it was trained for for years to fellow orders
I gotta go back and watch this as an adult
Hope you are feeling better Shaun
I just realized Danny's costume looks the same as the Negative Zone suits from the Fantastic Four. Just without the symbol and blue highlights.
