    I have been writing my memoir over the last few years. I really want to get back into it so I tuned into your channel. I am 65 and the main message I want to pass on is that we are all worthy of love and have talents that we need to appreciate even if others dont. You are very wise for a person of your age. I wish I had been like you at your age but was coming to terms with a traumatic childhood. Thank you so much for this video. I will now get down to my writing.

    I wrote a memoir that covered just a couple of years out of my life as a young girl. It was very painful to dig up this traumatic time in my life. I had to relive it and speak, showing my story in my voice as a child so my audience could feel my fear and pain. Every Sparrow that Falls by Rita Lee. I bled my heart out on paper in this story.

      Awesome! Thank you for sharing your experience while writing. I began writing my memoir which consists of childhood trauma/abuse which caused me to suffer from mental illness in my alone time. As I wrote one of the chapters I cried while relieving the abuse. I applaud you for completing your task

    I plan on writing a memoir about my childhood abuse, trauma and survival after a date with someone who later becomes a convicted kidnapper, rapist and murderer. My biggest problem is I feel very unrelatable to my target audience. My goal would be to provide insight to traumatized people, and showing gradual growth and the presence of resilience in the face of monsters but I’m not sure it would be an enjoyable read that people would want to participate in because it’s not pleasant, it’s very very unpleasant.

      best advise ive had is... write! just start writing and the message will be revealed through you re-living your testimony but I understand your apprehension... i think you just need to focus on the message while you're on the gritty parts but don't hold back! Best of luck to you in your journey... I'm past chapter one and just getting started with the uglies!

    I’m in the beginning stages of brainstorming for my memoir. Question. I am a first time writing and feel overwhelmed with this process there is a part of my life that I want to talk about that has its roots in some other areas in my life and I’m just concerned that the deeper I dig the greater the temptation will be for me to write and autobiography rather than a memoir. For example, I was to write about a religious experience I had (something I believed that was untrue) which was slowly destroying my faith, my relationship with friend , family and almost my marriage. In wanting to write about that one aspect of my life (which was about a three-year span) I can see the connections to where I was at that point to some earlier memories with my relationship with my father and with the kind of education I got in public school. Any suggestion on how you would approach a situation like this? Thank you so much for this video and your channel.

      @The Proverbial Life if your draw to a autobiography more than a memoir go for it. Eather way the process will be hard work, just keep going! You've got it if you want it. You are the writer of the book so the time line controls is yours, use flash back possibly to reference past in effect of the present. Best of luck😁

    Can a memoir have like 3/4 focus points instead of one overall theme or focus . Is that possible ?

    • @selfpublishingTV
      @selfpublishingTV  2 роки тому +1

      anything is possible! it would help if those all tied in to an overarching idea. but you can cover multiple focus points as long as they're transitioned into each other well with personal stories and whatnot

      Seems super intriguing. I say don't over think it, just sit down at that desk one night when you feel it's coming to you, and knock the hell out of that keyboard, Your editor will get paid for fine tuning it:)
      In one word just aim to put all your memories as precisely as it is in your mind on paper, that's what readers want.

    My memoir will be mainly about my decillions to one event of freak misfortune I had in the lottery, which has never happened in the world before to anybody else, and about the consequences of the event happening. Should be popular you'd think. I'd read it. My story is ridiculous. How do I get it known about when it's written?

  • @charlessmith263

    A caveat - DO NOT THROW IN THE DIRTY LAUNDRY AT SOMEBODY WHO IS CURRENTLY LIVING, THROUGH MEMOIRS! YOU CAN BE SUED FOR DEFAMATION OR WORSE, ESPECIALLY IF IT IS PUBLISHED!!!!!!!!!!
    You can throw in the dirty laundry at those who are dead through memoirs but don't buy into it because you may be sued for defamation by the heirs of those who died!!!!
