ok but the scariest type of killer is the killer period. if they have ended someones life with or without a motive, they did it. no one should feel they need to kill someone, but the fact that some people just cant control that feeling is scary...

I live in Hungerford, my great-great-aunt Shelia and great-great-uncle Roland (Roly) were two of the victims. My nan actually saw Michael Ryan walk past the house during the shooting. Shelia was my great-nan’s sister and we think she died of a broken heart after Shelia died. My nan and dad (he was 13 when it happened) were home when it happened. He still has psychological trauma from hearing the gun shots and seeing him walk by. It’s gotten a lot worse recently. Thank you for sharing this case; nobody in Hungerford talks about it but I do think it should be spoken about.

With America you're really restricted to more firearms being the only feasable solution as restriction of carrying and guns etc won't affect criminals and just make it easier for them, but with more guns and less "gun free zones" there will be less homocides related to firearms as "gun free zones" promote such areas as easy targets. And contrary to popular belief the states with the tightest laws have the most homocides (such as detroit and california). I can't imagine being in Julie's position. Having an insane gunman shoot at your feet to toy with you while running for your life must've been so terrifying!
Visualizing the scenes in this massacre are scary enough

32:19 I’ve got experience with that as an mma fighter sometimes you get in the cage and your fight or flight senses just freeze and you’re honestly just stuck there some people in that situation run towards the person and try fight them off others freeze and some run, you think you know what you would do in certain situations but that level of adrenaline takes that decision making away rip to all victims ❤️

I remember when my dad was applying for his gun license and when he went into hospital, someone came over to have an inspection, and I asked him about this case and he said "I come to people's houses and pray its not a Michael Ryan situation".

I lived in a village by Hungerford / Marlborough when this happened and we had a house on the canal which the police thought MR was trying to escape along so we had the helicopter over us etc. And we were told to lock the doors and stay inside. What I love about you is, I had no idea about the run up and the first shootings in the forest and petrol station. You are so amazing at detail. The police were amazing on this day. Love you and love you did this case x

Obviously it’s good that this doesn’t happen often in the UK, but as an American I’m having trouble fathoming how everyone was so unprepared and caught off guard. We learn how to deal with situations like this as kids.

    • @interestingusername2633

Because it doesn’t happen often so it didn’t need to be taught. Hasn’t happened since, either. Because we actually changed gun laws after the first massacre.
