Just like an artist, Ric didn't want to spoon feed the beholder with why or what he was talking about. You got something from looking/listening at what he created not on canvas but his brush strokes were genius quips and clever plays on words. Were his writings abstract in design or colorful broken pieces made into a collage for your mind and ears? "Where happy days count on thumbs" is genius. A very misunderstood and consequently underappreciated Cars album imho, but as good as any of the other LP's produced by Roy Thomas Baker for the band. He was perfect for them... that said, The Mutt Lange produced Heartbeat City was sensational. A legacy act without a doubt and worthy inductees of the RRHOF.
This is the first time in my life of hearing this song. I liked the video.
New wave ..... the Cars Best band Always Ben Orr
Miss U
my favorite Cars album
FUCK the RocknRoll hall of fame. TheCARS will live FOREVER.
+joe mama I still rather see them go in , along with Yes, Motley Crue, Blue Oyster Cult, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and God knows who else
+Steve Dwyer (TheCARS1979) dont forget DEVO !, and DIO, GARY NUMAN , KRAFTWERK !, and BRAIN ENO !
Panorama sounds like , WE ARE DEVO !
Jerry Casale of DEVO directed this video.
I like at the end how Ric Ocasek just goes for the cannonball.
The guy in the elevator when Ric enters is producer Roy Thomas Baker. Back in the eighties I went to the wrestling to see Andre The Giant fight Big John Stud and seated in the seats in front of us were Roy Thomas Baker and the members of Motley Crue.
Always loved the album. Never saw video til recently. Loved their sounds. If they hadn't put it out there, they'd get dissed for not wanting to mix it up.
Pretty much the essence of new wave.
