- The Halo Unreal Engine 5 reveal from Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) has everyone talking about Halo again. We thought we would take a look at some of the shots from Halo 3 2007 next to Halo Unreal Engine 5 test footage from the announcement. Why Halo 3? Well many fans seem to think there are some surprising similarities to locations in this Halo Unreal Engine 5 footage and Halo 3.

Art style + unique engine quirks. The ue5 footage feels like a generic ue5 game. Maybe I'm being too harsh but Bungie's trilogy is god tier.

This is a to a multiplayer PvP setting. If this is campaign specific it doesn't really matter, nor does it require too much thinking.

Halo players know what matters are the physics, not the graphics, no halo has been able to match the halo 3 physics. So please we want a game that can match halo 3's physics.

Please when making this game allow split screen campaign! Loved this feature as a kid.
It’s not just a rebrand on halo studios majority of the higher ups the ones in charge got fired so yes there is change but as far as developers and the ones creating the game they stayed the same that 343 changing their name to HALO is like if Jeffery Dohmer changed his name to one of his victims.

@@swthelostarchives this showcase was basically a tease that the first halo is being remade hence why they showing chiefs old amour and halo 1 environments. It’s been leaked earlier this year already

Curious as to why you picked Halo 3 over a more recent game, but hey, Halo 3 definitely was ahead of it's time graphically, especially with the lighting.

@@user-iz6kq8dy4iNot just cartoons. Just look at the Spartan armor nowadays: it looks like something you’d expect to see from Power Rangers because of how plastic everything looks.
Rumours has it one of the games in development in Halo 3 remake, it also hints this in the foundry tech demo, they invested alot of time using classic scenery from Halo 3, and also included a flood Biome which was again halo 3. Bit weird for them to create the assets/tech when the flood are "gone" in current halo timeline aka infinite.
Other examples is Master Chief suit design its kept simple vs current gen version and it follows halo 3 model again additional hints of halo 3 without officially announcing it.
2007 graphics still holds up
Let us pray they hire actual story writers and give us a memorable gameplay experience. Amen.

A halo 3 remake with some updated mechanics would be quite a nice interlude going into a revamped, fully developed, sequel to Infinite.

These two games and game engines are close to 20 years apart, but Halo 3 still holds up beautifully today even despite its age. Other than its shorter length and a few cheesy lines here and there, Halo 3 was and still is everything you could possibly ask for in a Halo game.
Man this music makes me feel like a little kid again on the couch with my older brother getting ready to play split screen slayer with my older brother. Enough to make a grown man cry. Time flies 😭
Halo 3 graphics were actually incredible.
XBOX VR is what we need. VR was before graphic became so great, if you jump straight to this kind of quality, your heart will stand still ❤

They picked Halo 3 as a means to learn how to build games on unreal engine. They're going to do Halo 3 anniversary on it and then make a new game with what they learned.

Graphics are good but gameplay and story is key. I’d pick halo 3 over halo 5 or infinite any day. Hopefully Halo studios sees that and isn’t lost in unreal engines graphic hype.

It’s pretty insane. After all the next gen upgrades and remasters all these games got Halo 3 definitely still has the best graphics. Whatever rasterization tech they used was crazy ahead of its time.

Halo was never known for its graphics. Real Halo fans don’t care about a prettier looking new halo game. We just want Halo to be great again. The glory days of the classic trilogy.
This isnt a flex lol. Halo 3 is almost 20 years old and still plays better than any halo game beyond 2007.
I'm happy the studio dropped their ambitions of also being a graphics studio and embraced Unreal Engine. Hopefully this means they can focus on the soul of Halo vs split resources, and ultimately be more nimble.

weird how in 1996 we had Mario 64 a blocky 3d game to 17 years later with Deus Ex: Human Revolution or sleeping dogs yet Halo 3 to now all the improvement made in 17 years is slight
Hot take, This changed my mind, H3 looks better. It is clearly a downgrade, but there is no blurring. There is so much blurring on the new tech demo that it ruins the image. Motion blur is a curse.

Also shows ‘realistic’ graphics don’t make a great game. They can enhance a bad game, or carry a poor game, but a well written, well designed game can look anyway you want.

1 halo must be unique.
Halo 2 should be focused on multiplayer
3 halo should not have this huge number of game styles, dividing the players and making it difficult to find the match.
4 halo 5 deserves a remake. best halo in multiplayer created.

One day somebody will release a game that trades some polygons but leverages processing speed for scale of environment, AI quantity and complexity and clear and clean design
