Say what you will, been with Halo since day one. The first time ever I teared up during cut scenes. The storyline is planted perfectly within the game.
I just finished a campaign and the amount of times I came close to crying hearing the OG music, seeing chief and Cortana one last time that’s my childhood bro. I was looking directly at my childhood
Quick correction about Zeta Halo: It isn't 3 times larger (30,000 kilmoteres) than the other rings. It USED to be when it was part of the original 12 ring array, but it was reduced in size after suffering massive damage, eventually becoming 10,000 kilometeres in diameter, the size of the other rings.
He did a better job at explaining the game than the creators of it did. I haven't played it, but i did watch a 3 hour long play through of the game. I can' say with out a doubt, terrible. However, that's not including the game play, and game play is different from the story ark. So, there is that.
@@igkslife you watched a 3 hour gameplay and that was your conclusion of it being bad? How about play it and find out because it’s not bad, it’s really good in fact lmao.
@@igkslife You've watched... 3 hours... of a playthrough... And that's enough to consider the story 'terrible'? Man, I could pull up a huge thesaurus and I still wouldn't know the words to describe how you lack perspective through a three hour playthrough. The story is actually good, it's written well. You need to play the game for yourself to determine whether it has a good story or not, don't just rely on someone else's playthrough to experience the full story. The Semi-Open World also includes audio logs that tell you the story as well, prior to the events leading up to the battle of Installation 07 and the aftermath. There is a lot to discover about the Halo Infinite story and not just through the Campaign.
Also it is implied in the legendary ending that the endless are immune to the halo rings and that they can control time. "Time" seems to be important at the end because when they escaped the weapon said that somehow 3 days passed, I have a theory that in the fight with the harbinger and when she was about to free the endless, they altered the time there. Also it may explain why Atriox want to free the endless so he can somehow control time and go back before his planet was destroyed Edit: At the start of the legendary cut scene it says 97,368 BCE, the human/forerunner wars were in 106,445 BCE so Atriox may have already went back in time Edit2: I think the ring shaped structures in the game have a bigger meaning, I think they will be used as time portals in the game, so you can jump between times to go back to Zeta halo in the past.
That's one hell of a theory and I absolutely think it's a great one. For Atriox to release the Endless in favor of getting his homeworld back is one hell of a move but something no one was anticipating. It's insane that Time Travel wasn't ever truly a thing in the Halo Game Series until now and to think there'd be a species that could potentially do that is even more surprising. Although I'm pretty sure some form of time travel made an appearance at some point in lore, but I could be wrong.
Actually, the Legendary ending basically confirms that 07's monitor and Offensive Bias were put in charge of imprisoning the endless and Atriox is likely freeing them
I think the Harbinger herself was a precursor. My first suspicion was when she was talking to the Spartan and interrupts him saying “I shall talk, and you shall listen.” Given that the flood are remnants of the precursors, I think it’s clear what they were trying to foreshadow.
343 confirmed its an entirely new species, never before mentioned. remember 343 doesnt really keep much of deeper canon awareness when making a halo game, they dont do much with existing lore or books or extended lore in general, they just write new ''stuff''...
@@MrSeanmcgall yeah I was kinda disappointed. I hope that the endless are some form of precursor or based off of pre-existing lore. In the legendary ending I do like that they refer to Offensive Bias, so it seems that he will make an appearance. Overall, I just wish they would have expanded on the current lore within Zeta Halo. Like I wished we explored the palace of pain, mendicant bias (as parts of him I believe still reside in zeta Halo) the master builder etc. they just didn’t tho :(
The fact cortana and the created story threads were just dealt with off screen is very disappointing. Halo 7 opens on MC: “thank god we dealt with those endless now for atriox”
Really great summary and retelling of the story! This story was a very personal story, and I love that! The ending was so sweet heartwarming and I cannot wait too see what comes next. Not only the bigger threat, but what happen to the previous character such as Lasky, Palmer, Halsey etc I assume most of them are alive and I really want to go out there and find them. hehe
Only one thing that was missed was the ending cut scene before entering the pelican. Chief asks Cortana 2.0 where they are. She said something like, "a bigger question is when are we? We were in there for 3 days." They also mention time in the legendary ending. So not sure if the ring will involve time travel and what that means to the Halo saga as a whole.
Imagine going back to Reach as it was being destroyed and have the weapon make a copy of herself under sword base which Halsey will find later and “build” cortana out of it before sending chief and cortana to the first halo found 🥵
I really hope they do story dlc for this game. This game's story looks great, but it also looks like an intro to a even better and bigger story later on. With dlc, we could also potentially see things like the flood, and different locations such as snowy and desert areas, which would be really cool. An Arbiter dlc would also be fantastic, but we'll have to wait and see I guess.
lmao. The Campaign itself is a DLC. Halo Infinite itself is the client to manage your spartan and online play. I knew before even playing the game that they will probably have nothing but DLC's coming out.
Dude this is the best explanation video I’ve ever seen. Idk how you remembered everything but good shit bro thank you i was a little confused after finishing the game
I don’t think Cortana is dead. I think she became the ring, which is how the ring has a life force, and how the ring mysteriously helps chief out sometimes, like the portal thing at the end of the game. I think Cortana is refusing to contact the chief because of what she said at the end, she couldn’t spoil his life any longer. I think she wants the chief to think she is dead so he can move on. Im 100% sure she is coming back in the future. After all she is an AI connected to the forerunner domain how is she going to just die. Nah fam. She alive.
I think she's still alive too. There's WAY too much unexplained about what happened to her. No details on The Created or what happened between 5 and Infinite, only that she made a mistake. No details on her sacrifice or how she died, only that it happened and the echo cuts off right when she goes to do something that gets Atriox scared. Plus all the help Chief was getting. There's just so much left unanswered that they HAVE to revisit it somehow and I hope it means she's not dead. Idek how Atriox could kill her given that she essentially achieved immortality via The Domain
@@Scopatone if we gonna take it as it's said in the game, then weapon is cortarna, while "the old version" is dead. Weapon is just a "rebooted" version of same AI
I played the entire halo story a month ago for the first time and it was epic idk how I let this series slide underneath me and never gave it a try and this game deserves game of the year in my opinion
I'm not sure how long I can wait for a continuation of this story. I really hope they do updates or DLC for the story as time goes on. Since with 343s goal of wanting infinite to be the platform for halo for the next 10 years I doubt I can wait that long for a follow up XD
I agree, while I haven't played the campaign and probably won't, they way I am interpreting it This seems just like a 'part one', like it sets up more than it resolves. Halo 5 ended on such a tense desparate note, but so much of the afterwards stuff happened off-screen it sounds like and now we are just at the beginning of another retcon. I get the impression they had to really scrape a lot together to write themselves out of the corner they got themselves into
Does anyone actually think we’re gonna be waiting even more than a year for more story? They’re most definitely going live service/Destiny style. The foundation is there now. Story expansions should be a piece a cake. They’d be insane to just like “aight, see ya in a decade!”
While the ring used to be severally larger since it was apart of the first array of rings, it was reduced in size to fit the second and stronger array, also the primordial is straight up dead, he was put inside a chamber with accelerated time and was turned to dust, Medicant bias has been off zeta halo and was actually inside high charity on truths keyship, where he later was taken to the ark and was supposedly killed there according to the terminals in halo 3, however mendicants previous location is on zeta halo and it is theorized there may be some fragments of him on the ring but other than the EU lore being incorrect, it was a pretty good telling of the games story so thank you.
Actually, pretty sure that High Charity only had a fragment of M Bias, he still remains locked away on Zeta halo. Remember how the Weapons points on multiple times that there are unknown systems opperating on the ring? Very similiar to H2 during the flood invasion on High Charity where Cortana breifly states there is another extremely inteligent AI fighting her routins being M Bias.
@@Yaedon bias was taken from zeta halo by offensive and placed on a key ship dreadnought, the thing truth had was actually mendicant, this is why he’s on the ark and speaks to chief throughout the terminals.
@@kuurooii9350 No Offensive Bias Split Mendicant off into 3 fragments, 1 was on the ark, 1 on the dreadnought that later became high charity's power source and the last one on zeta, the Dreadnought and ark fragments are now together but his 3rd piece still remains on Zeta. Halo Canon and hidden experia have videos on it
@@TheFallinhalo if we wanna go into semantics, no there is no fragment of mendicant remaining on zeta, offensive split him into more than three pieces as well and he was scattered along the fleet, his pieces ended up reconnecting on the ark, the part of mendicant on zeta is his empty core room but there is nothing in it, think of it as a power supply. I’m awake Luke and HC made videos on it but since then alot of things have been added to the EU and we’ve talked about it before but right now mendicant isn’t on zeta halo according to canon, I doubt it’ll stay that way because he’s too integral to the rings history and something will more than likely retconned or something will happen but as of now, he technically shouldn’t be there.
Amazing information, though there is two points that I'd like to point out. -You mentioned the post credits scene but not the dialogue for the legendary version (which has two forerunners conversing, whom I'm assuming are the Didact and the Librarian regarding how they want the Endless to be lost to time and that the halos have no effect on them, hence their imprisonment) -it's not so much we'll see them in the next game but expansion. 343 has already mentioned Infinite will be a Gaas release meant to last up to ten years so we'll likely see story expansions ala destiny 2.
In the subtitles for the legendary version of the cutscene you can see the two conversing are Despondent Pyre and the other one was Great Enact or something. I got it myself but none of the uploads I can find on youtube have subtitles Edit: Grand Edict thank you big wes
Here’s my theory. Harbinger wanted to bring her species back from the dead. Why did the forerunners exclude them from coming back when they were bringing life back to the universe after the flood died? I don’t believe the Harbinger or her species are the precursors, but maybe a species that was pro precursors and anti forerunners as the Mantle of Responsibility. Some species didn’t like the forerunners so that can be one thing. If I remember correctly that the precursors werent destroyed but pushed far away out of the universe. Here’s my other theory. Atriox probably gained knowledge about the Mantle of Responsibility and wants the Brutes to be it instead of the humans. With his home world destroyed now. He can rebuild it and his species to be smarter since their DNA is locked in the installation (remember that the forerunners made the humans go back to their primitive form when they brought them back). He gained info from the Harbinger on how to bring life back that’s locked in those card thingys (forgot the name of it). That’s just my theory though and what I think of what’s going on
Thank you for this video, great content! In my opinion I was honestly let down by the ending. It didn’t answer a lot of questions I had. The gameplay was great, however throughout the entire campaign I’ve just been waiting for the story to really take off and I felt like it didn’t really go anywhere
@@soapimpossible7023 I mean, yeah it did. In the mission where I was assaulting the base to save Fernando it was playing the OG halo music with the guitar while I was blasting my way through everyone
That’s how I feel. I feel like the campaign was a humongous let down. It basically threw out everything from the past 5 games story line. All for the sole purpose of “making the game accessible for new players.” I honestly can’t believe 343 did that.
Halo Infinite was so refreshing and felt so new at the same time, its amazing. The bosses were all fun having their unique arenas or areas with weaknesses was really cool, especially the Jega Elite boss fight… I may have screamed I few times during that fight. Although as a Halo lore fan I was really disappointed there was no mention of the precursors, mendicant bias or return of the flood, although I was glad the flood were at least mentioned, and offensive bias hinted at in the legendary ending. I really did think the Harbinger was a precursor at first, but during the boss fight she said “I am only a messenger” or something like that, so she may work for the precursors and she’s the one that is supposed to wake them up after the forerunners killed most of them… but as you may know, most of the precursors aged terribly and corrupted into what is now the Flood, so hopefully when the Harbinger contacted The Endless / The Precursors, *she contacted the flood to Zeta Halo.* But hey, that’s just a theory… :)
tbh i think the campaign could of gone into more detail with the endless (the precursors) like with mendicant bias etc. though the story we got was very good i feel like it was abit to short concidering its been 3 years
@@moist_onions ahh that woukd be why then hahahaha its a shame becuase its kind of a kick in the teeth for those who indulge in the lore and thought we'd get something allot more in regards to that but 🤷♂️ I guess they wanna try keep the franchise going aslong as they can so haha

@@TheSeanyJC most likely implemented in as extra missions that come after you beat the main story or something but I really hope that they dont ask too much for it considering all of multiplayer is riddled with microtransactions and the campaign is 60.
I am so happy atriox is alive. I just finished the campaign and I was saying how they could have done much more with him. This makes me so pumped for the next halo
Yeah its basically going to be a mortal kombat 11 aftermath situation with story dlc. Which is cool and im fine with that and hopefully chief catches up with atriox in the next part of the story.
Based on the current monetization that I;ve seen I wouldn't be surprised if it was Destiny-level DLC. Unfortunately for my wallet, I am perfectly fine spending the money to expand on this game's story.
I love the Cortana corruption twist. As someone whos played from first and know that bungie had a fondness of writing insane a.i(Durandal), this to me feels very fitting.
I played the game on Heroic and I didn't really have a hard time with Jega, the boss I had the most trouble with was the Brute Chieftain that ambushes you in the laser drill control room. Holy fuck that guy charges at like 10000000000000000 mph.
Bro that guy was a whole menace. That was the first time I actually rage quited and left the game for tmrw lol. Like he was a whole boss of his own. Him jumping across the map THEN having to face the harbinger again was so hard lol. I think I was mainly frustrated bc I wasn’t getting a checkpoint at all lol
This is definitely one of the best halo campaigns I've have ever played and it's great to see how they went with it and I can't wait to see how they do the rest. Good to see that you're doing halo videos too instead of for honor tho I miss those days aswell. Hope to talk again soon!
The next game potentially having the precursors and Atriox as more of a direct threat is gonna be nuts, then having the classic Cortana Chief relationship without him calling her "weapon" will be nice. Maybe we will see Lasky and Palmer, red team and the Spirit of Fire and have to fight the flood finally after soo many years.
I had a lot of fun playing this game on legendary & let me tell you, it sure as hell kicked my ass. I can't even count how many times I had to re-do boss battles, but it was worth it. I loved this campaign, it was awesome. A better improvement from 5. There were only a couple of things that bothered me. I'm going to break it down in my own thoughts. The *pros:* 1. Once I started playing campaign, I kid you not... I played until my eyes started hurting & drying up. I was immediately hooked. 2. Amazing story, I was very shocked on how they pulled through but I think they did a great job with the story line. 3. I love the mechanics of the gadgets, I believe they implemented the use of gadgets within campaign very well. I love the grappling hook, I felt like a hybrid of spiderman/chief. I even climbed some super tall walls of halo. The dropwall was also very useful. 4. The spartan core upgrades was also a great idea. Upgrading these gadgets all the way will help you with campaign. 5. The idea of an open world halo was a smart move by 343i. I think they did an amazing job with it. The *cons:* (that I noticed at least, & probably many others) 1. The vehicles in game have absolute shit controls, *ESPECIALLY* the tank. 2. One tiny bump for warthog/mongoose, it flips over. 3. "Weapon's" facial animation is a lil weird from certain cutscenes. 4. The armor lockers don't give you jack shit but ugly ass emblems that no one will use. (should have given armor instead) 5. This is the part where the online store comes in... oh you want armor in campaign? too bad, pay for it. 6. I haven't found all skulls but 1 and I heard you don't get badass armor like you did in halo 3 for finding them all. 7. Beat it on legendary... This game kicked my ass... no reward at all. A bit disappointed. (maybe they'll add it later? other than just getting the achievements) 8. I understand this game was on zeta halo... and everything happened there as far as missions, but I did miss some diversity when it came to playing in different environments. ( it was only above ground & underground). Over-all I would give this game a solid *8/10.* I say 8 because of all the cons, but most importantly... the lockers *SHOULD* have had armor in it. The idea of paying for cosmetics is sucha nuisance. I'm going to replay the missions to get all skulls. That's all I have left. I enjoyed the game though, *WAY BETTER* than halo 5.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. First Halo for me. I played on normal and it kicked my ass, specially boss fights. I found most boss fights to be a bit repetive and a bit unfair though.
It feels odd that Cortana was so murderous and then all of sudden sacrificed herself. Feels too fast, to abrupt. I think a major showdown between John and Cortana would have been a much better plot to pursue.
There is 0 chance Cortana is dead. She was simply too powerful and the fact that ring has a life force, and how the ring keeps helping out chief, like the portal at the end of the game. I think Cortana is connected to the ring and will eventually make a return. I don’t think they would kill off Cortana like that, she’s way to important to the story of halo.
Cortana after committing genocide and being a ruthless villain "wait. You want to take control of the rings and commit genocide?? thats messed up so I'll sacrifice myself haha" honestly 343 was trying so hard to redeem Cortana it actually made me sick
Ok I liked the campaign but why in the fuck would the weapon name herself Cortana after she went to war with the Galaxy and shit? Like I get it it's a nice sentimental nod but she might as well be calling herself Actual Hitler
they are adding more campaigns to this game. we dont know whats the interval but think of them as seasons. Maybe thats why season 2 of the multiplayer got delayed so they can finish the campaign.
@@joebestavros oh that's cool so this game will have more campaigns. Kinda like mortal kombat 11 aftermath I guess. In terms of it being a dlc story or campaign
Harbinger was found in one of those square things we see now and again. How she was set free we find out the banished forced a unsc officer to work with them to free Harbinger. 2ed mission. Is where I got the info
Idk I really thing the 'runes' at the end were mendicant bias for sure. The room and the 'monoliths' looked and moved just as they did in the weapon's room. Points to the idea that Atriox is claiming his own AI. As for the endless, though, I definitely think that's the primordial who's also on this ring
I didn't play Halo Wars 2, and the last game I played was halo 5... Picking up Halo Infinite was SOOOOOO confusing for me! I had so many questions about what the hell was going on and didn't feel like this story was connected with Halo 5s ending whatsoever, it feels like there's a whole game missing between 5 and infinite (inb4 someone says "well yeah, that's HW2")
I really enjoyed the story overall. The reveal at the end that Cortana sacrificed herself to destroy the ring and save the Weapon from deletion was mind blowing. It also fixed an issue I was having, which was that it felt like Chief never got a chance to come to terms with Cortana's death. But in the end, he's able to. I also think it's the most respectful way to send out her character, through sacrifice and not having her be some sort of boss fight. I'm curious how 343 will handle the story after this. Infinite is supposed to be the only Halo game for the next 10 years, so I wonder if the live service nature of the game will give us story expansions. With how well crafted the gameplay and engine are, I wouldn't mind seeing another campaign or two of this size within Infinite.
Ya. The only problem is that 343 wants us to like her but she also killing millions of creatures and literally blowing up planets out of spite. It would have been more heart felt watching her last moments knowing that she only did things like cripple ships or emp entire planets instead of destroying them. I actualy felt good when she died
@@dakotaemanis6661 yeah they really regret halo 5. They fucked up her character. They want us to remember her fondly. That wasn't just an apology for chief. Felt like one from 343 to us
I have a feeling that we’ll get more in this campaign in the form of DLC drops… I’ve seen some things that say they released what we got almost like under duress is the way to explain it, and it’s pretty common with these big titles that that happens. I gotta hold out hope though, halo is one that I keep close to my heart. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cry during some of those cutscenes.
There are so many plot holes. So many questions I have after playing this story and I really broke down after seeing the last scene with Cortana. I could not believe that was it. I was hoping the Weapon was Cortana uploaded into the new AI and was remembering who she was, that way we could get Cortana back but nope. They just straight killed her off screen again and we only find out the truth in the ending. I was devastated by how they did it. I just pray that it works in the end. I want to see what happened to Blue team, Laskey, Infinity, Earth, etc.
I can't get over how the infinity and it's crew was dominated just because. And we have no idea what has happened with characters, and the destruction of that space station makes zero sense. Buck prevented that from happening. Saving everyone including dare and jun. So are they all dead now?
@@Perroden EXACTLY. This game has plot holes like hell and whatever new story they make needs to address all of these. Cause the entire time I was waiting for Blue team or captain laskey to show up.
@@Perroden YES. SOMEONE ELSE. You’re telling me (the banished) a faction with less resources than the covenant somehow wiped out the unsc capital ship in 4 minutes while ALSO hiding from Cortana? The fuck? Also, if Cortana has access to the domain how does she not already have access to zeta halo? Why couldn’t she find the infinity and why did she let atriox destroy it if she simply wanted to control everyone? Why does everyone think atriox was killed? How in the hell was Cortana defeated AT ALL with the guardians? I’m left with more questions than answers and not in the good way. It’s just inconsistent af.
@@ReveredDead the thing that pissed me off the most was right at the beginning seeing the infinity getting destroyed like child's play. And chief being rag dolled like a toy. I was hoping beyond hope that there was some explanation but what we find out is the Infinity somehow got surprised attacked, no one stood a chance, they were decimated on the ground, and they TOOK THE INFINITY in less than 4 minutes... Really? And ppl talking about how cool that is. If atriox had some secret supply of forerunner weapons or some shit then I could at least be like "oh ok that makes a little sense" instead of not being able to enjoy the story.
Good explanation! This story was like the Transformers with Quintessa, where it introduced familiar enemies in different guises whilst sliding in a new undefined enemy with a jump in knowledge, asking the user to go along with it. If the next Halo fills in the gaps, that works, but honestly this story felt empty and repetitive, and if the endless aren't explained well, then it will be another franchise that just keeps adding story to keep it going. I agree, the endless are likely precursor due to the statement against forerunners. Ofc, it could be as you say, a species existing at the same time, but the whole bias+pirmordial being on Zeta shit is too much of a coincidence. Thnx
@@Kenny-sl6hb Also we have no idea where Halsey, Laskey and all the rest are at. Also the Infinity. All we know is it suffered severe damage. We don't see it blow up at all. So where is it is my big question.
If it really is a "10 year project" perhaps we will see more campaign put in the game similar to how warzone puts new maps in. Biomes were teased in infinites promotional videos when the slipspace engine was unveiled. hopefully its an expansion.
The stuff seen in the promotional and in engine video were supposed to be in the game but 3/4 of the open world got cut along with a majority of other content. Who knows how true this is because there was supposed to be more than one season of Spartan Ops and it never got past the first one.
I didn't really understand everything when playing the game. I felt like they didn't do the greatest job at explaining the events as halo had done in past games. Your explanation really cleared a lot though. Great job. Much more interested in the story now
My biggest gripe is that there is no fallout from the emergence of the guardians. There’s no continuation of it. Are we supposed to believe that Atriox and the Banished crushed cortanas defence? Are we supposed to believe the UNSC and did after she blew up Sydney? I fucking hate that we never get an answer to where they went. I mean ffs Halo 5s title was Halo 5 Guardians.
Am I the only one who feels Cortana’s character feels completely different from the ending of halo 5 she butchers billions just for shits and giggles in halo 5 but in infinite she gets trapped on a massive halo ring and Essentially rolls over and dies
Can't wait for some DLC to come out. I enjoyed the story but did feel like it was lacking in some points such as what exactly happened to the Infinity, where blue team is, and the fact they never even mentioned the Ark/Spirit of Fire/anything UNSC related from HW2. So hoping to see DLC down the road covering these and more, or getting more missions in the open world that explain it.
I'll clear things up so you don't miss out on answers that were already known. • In the Campaign Story, you find out about what happened to the UNSC Infinity through either the Audio Logs or through Escharum nearing the second last Campaign Mission. (It was destroyed) • In an Audio Log (UNSC Audio Log #3: Duty Clearance) you hear Lasky has sent the rest of Blue Team elsewhere prior to the events of 07. Meaning that they weren't on the Infinity when it was attacked. • The reason why they didn't mention the SOF, Ark or anything related to HW2 is because no information about it was ever procured and wasn't significant to Halo Infinite's main story. If you read Divine Wind, you can catch up to the Spirit of Fire's story from there, hence the answer as to why no information was ever shared, regarding HW2. But knowing 343i, they're definitely going to be releasing DLC Campaigns as Halo Infinite is expected to run as a platform for Ten Years worth of content. This opens up many opportunities to introduce the Endless, reintroduce the Flood and quite possibly introduce other stories following a different perspective, like Halo 3: ODST for example where you're a UNSC ODST instead of a Spartan. The possibilities are limitless. You could almost say... Infinite.
@@ArkElementStudios Thanks. I know it sounded like the Infinity was destroyed but I wasn't sure, and I heard blue team was sent away but more curious where. And I know the Ark and HW2 doesn't fit the story super well but I was still hopeful they'd get mentioned haha. But hopefully in DLC we can get some more info on the campaign since it's planned to be The Halo for 10 years
You forgot to mention the three day time travel at the end, which very well could be connected with the endless or some special power hidden in the ring
@@colnz1233 that was the time stamp of the dialogue of legendary. Atriox is not in the past the only time you see the date is on legendary & that's because of the dialogue. It's not there on other difficultie endings otherwise I might agree but its not the case.
I’m pretty sure there’ll be campaign extensions. After you beat the campaign on Xbox, you get an achieve meant that rewards you for completing the MAIN campaign. Hints towards there being expansions
While the weapon is excellent, she’ll never be Cortana. Even though it’s the same voice actress and copy. I guess 343 pigeonholed themselves in the narrative with Cortana and this was the best solution. It’s not terrible, but also sad we’ll never see the original Cortana again.
I wish we got more scenes like the intro infinity scene, instead of hologram story time. I'm pretty sad to not see the Flood, and I don't like that they just dismiss the Flood like it's a small faction. Missions felt a little repetitive gameplay wise, the Endless could be cool but I doubt it would be the same level as the Flood, Banish could be just as good as the Covenant. Maybe I'm speaking from a nostalgic perspective.
Yeah same, but I can tell they wanted to clean up a lot of the past mistakes w Halo 4 and 5, and they just couldn’t complete or expand too much on the story bc they didn’t have time (either development or the fact that the campaign was already pretty long) and that is why they seem to expanding the campaign in the long run. I just hope that the Endless aren’t just a random new species that don’t have any connection to pre existing lore. It would be quit disappointing as there is soooooooo much deep lore in Zeta Halo rn and for them to just throw past enemies aside (as u said like the flood not being that much of a threat) and start scratch w a random new enemy would be disappointing. I think w that said, I liked the campaign as it was bc it did a really well job at kind of establishing its foundation and just needs to expand now.
First of all, wonderful job explaining the lore and backstory leading up to infinite and the events in the game. But is anyone else severely unimpressed with the story-telling of this game? Cortana's death is also a HUGE problem for me. She was such a important character to the game and MC and us the player. To then be so casually killed off with barely any screen time or explanation. And lastly Why are there no HD cutscenes!?!?! the whole way through the game i was waiting for that cinematic popcorn eating high fidelity greatness to explain WTF was going on. I haven't heard anyone talk about this yet and i wonder if im the only one that cares.
i still have a ton of questions. Where is Blue team and Osiris? Where is Lasky? Where is Halsey? Are the flood definitely on Zeta? What happened to the Guardians? Where is Ellen Anders from Halo Wars 2? Where is the wreck of the Infinity? Surely theres got to be something left of it right? Who thought killing off Cortana would be a good idea?
@@krakeneggss2767 The guardians are most likely deactivated since Cortana is dead now. I can see why they killed off cortana, they kinda wrote themselves into a corner so the only option they had.
Dude... all these cutscenes are made in-engine and in-game. they aren't pre-rendered like H2A's. of course they're not gonna be like that. and seeing cortana's death AGAIN kind of removes the impact Halo 4 had. all we know is that she died. and wdym "so casually killed off withbarely any screen time or explanation"? it's been a thing stated right at the start and we see Chief's emotions and troubles with that fact and coming to terms with it throughout the entire game. Cortana doesn't NEED that much screen time for it to be meaningful. and for explanation? it's stated EXACTLY why. She realised that she couldn't do things properly without the Chief and that the only way of stopping the Banished is to get his help. to stop the Banished from firing and occupying the Ring, she destroyed it. that gave Chief the time to get in, dismantle their operation (possibly only for now) and do everything else he does in the campaign.
I feel very conflicted, maybe it was just my expectations for this game since we were finally seeing this Ring and all the lore that comes with it. And on top of that we have no idea of what happen to blue team, Osiris and the rest of the infinity crew. I understand they had to scrap 2/3 of the game but whatever they built upon with the guardians in halo 5 just seem to be gone now and we couldn’t even see the events of dosiak and earth in a cutscene. I just feel so underwhelmed and slightly disappointed.
The Weapon deciding to take on the name "Cortana" makes absolutely no sense to me other than the studio really wanting us all to forget Halo 4&5. Basically she's saying "Hey, can I call myself Space Stalin like your former girlfriend? You know, the one who blew up planets and killed millions of people?"
She technically is cortana though and chief said that to her. "You're her, if we never met" and cortana turned good near the end. So you can see why she called herself cortana
The only thing that hit me was when, the one Spartan Chief ends up saving. Ends up dying and the emotions he was feeling after his final words broke me. I felt what he was feeling and the first time knowing Chief was done playing around. Great comeback game by far!💯🤙
I have the sneaking suspicion the “silent auditorium is the holding cell for the primordial. Moreover I also get the ideas that the endless is the primordial.
The Primordial is dead... If you've read the Primordium Novel, then you'd get the idea that the Primordial's Original body is destroyed and that it's mind/personality/memories were transferred into the Hive Mind of the Flood, making it impossible for the Primordial to even make an appearance in the Silent Auditorium.
@@ArkElementStudios That means the Primordial ISN'T dead though. Only his body, and his mind was transferred. Sure, he couldn't appear in his original form as far as we know (There is likely still a corpse down there, it didn't say he wasted away into nothingness), but he still IS the/a Gravemind and could make an appearance that way. The Primordial IS the Flood's mind, it can pretty much make an appearance however it wants. Plus, and this is WILD speculation, it's obvious The Endless, whoever they/it is, have some control over time since Atriox is now 100k years in the past so I wonder if it would be insane to think they could undo the rapid aging process the Didact inflicted on the Primordial. Either way, I'm like 75% certain The Endless are precursors whether the Primordial is included in them or not
@@Scopatone What makes you think Atriox would be in the past? The Legendary Ending was revealed to be a timestamp conversation of the Grand Edict and Despondant Pyre regarding the Endless while in present time, seeing Atriox release the Endless.
To debunk this, if you go into the map mission overview on the silent auditorium. It says that harbinger is the species “Endless” so we already know who the endless are
i stopped playing halfway through Halo 5 because I was bored by it so I'm grateful that you have such a great recap of everything despite just how convoluted the entire thing is. I've been playing Destiny 2 since abandoning Halo and that universe also has some of the most convoluted stories of all time. Now that I've seen this video though, I want to get Infinite and try it out. It looks interesting and the technology used to render the graphics is breathtaking.
I’m hoping the Endless are the precursors. I think it would make the flood seem less important than they are (literally the reason for the Halo rings and this entire story)
It wouldn't make sense, all the precursors are dead (except for the Primordial's essence that is now part of the Hive of the Flood) although if you've read Point of Light, you end up reading along the lines of Bastion and what it holds. The Endless are seemingly a new Species and are described to be more important and dangerous than the Flood and it would hold a better stance than to consider them as Precursors.
@@ArkElementStudios I understand that, I just would almost rather them somehow make the precursors relevant than diminish the flood, and bringing in an even more powerful enemy will 100% do that
A detail I loved about infinite is that in the cutscenes you always have the weapon you were actually carrying, in every halo before no matter what weapons you were carrying you would have an assault rifle in the cutscenes, I know it’s a super small detail but I would always carry around an assault rifle even if it was out of ammo just so the cutscenes would have some continuity to me, so being free of that burden is amazing
I'm probably in the minority in this but Infinite left me feeling hollow. Seemed like all the major battles happened pre- or during those 6 months. I didn't care for Escherum and Atriox releasing the Endless to me was like them rebooting the Banished because people were tired of fighting rouge Covenant forces. Cortana in the in-game cutscenes were just re-caps of things that happened, nothing was in the moment. Having a "new Cortana" to replace the old one was disappointing. Not having any supporting Spartans on Red Team make an appearance or reference was a little sad. Like it was visually nice and the 3 main characters were great but in the long run of things I just wasn't involved. I don't know what to feel. It was just going to another A-B mission to see reconstructed data. At least in Halo 1-3 and even 4 I felt invested to keep going to either ensure the safety of mankind. Stopping the Banished on Zeta didn't even feel as urgent at all.
Jega was actually rather disappointingly easy to kill, compared to any of the other bosses on Legendary, since if you had the maxed out trackers you could put two down and render his cloak useless. When he despawns for a few seconds, he always respawns in the same center of the arena, meaning you can give him a facefull of coils to drop his shields, and once those are down, it's over for him.
Just finished the game I’m very happy with the story way better than 4 and 5 combined (I knew they weren’t gonna kill atriox off screen) but that being said while I don’t dislike cortana 2.0 they really did original cortana dirty, I hope new cortana eventually come across a piece of OG cortana that she accepts into herself to truly become cortana but at the same time that sounds to fanfictiony
honestly ngl, as a person (i know its weird saying that because she is an AI, but you get my point). I love the new cortana compared to the old one. I think that has to be thanks to technology in video games but i feel more connected to her because of her emotions, facial expressions, dialogue, etc. Cortana 1.0 felt too much like a robot and too serious, the new one is the opposite.
The story was a bit disappointing to me, main things that I thought didn’t work - The banished being a major threat, I thought their capital ship got destroyed in halo wars 2? I like them but they got a fleet pretty quick. Glossing over Cortanas defeat, sort of feels like we missed a game. Lack of characters, Lasky and others just showing as logs is a bit weird, who is leading the marines we save? How did they live but all the Spartans got wrecked, we don’t need loads from them, like in halo 1 we knew we had people in the background helping, dropping off marines to assist and such, the story makes it seem like the FOB/marines on the overworld are not really involved in the story at all, otherwise they coulda chilled with Echo 216
While they took away the Prometheans from Halo 4 and 5, it would've been cool if they left them in somewhat in Halo: Infinite with you having to fight both the Banished and Cortana while she is controlling the Promethean's as the Didact did. Plus it would've given you a cool second boss fight and more material and storyline to work with on Chief trying to reason with Cortana to stop her plan from Halo 5... also could possibly the Harbinger be possibly related to the Builder as a Precursor due to him running experiments on Zeta Halo in which she was trapped on and judged in the Silent Auditorium from the Forerunners long ago on how the Forerunners teamed up with ancient humans to wipe them out in order to take control?
Too many plot holes and questions but I agree however I was not prepared for how Cortana was gonna go. I was hoping that the Weapon was Cortana proper. Like the reason she wasn't deleted was cause Cortana took over the original AI and was new again. However when we find that she is already dead. I then thing "Why the hell did they kill her off screen again and why are they doing her like this?".
Jega only killed one of the Spartans we get abilities from. We get the threat sensor from armor in the tower, and later find that the Spartan it belonged to was tortured to death by Chak Lok. Jega only killed the first dead Spartan in the conservatory. The second was killed by brutes, who i'm pretty sure where the ones we fought at the end of the AA gun section.
Halo infinite is supposed to be the platform for the next 10 years of halo, so, there should be and im pretty sure its confirmed that there will be campaign content/story updates and probably DLC. Hopefully one shows us where the fuck the arbiter is or something tells us, i need to know.
Thanks for the video. Just finished the campaign on legendary, and wanted a recap. Does anyone know what happened to all the Guardians under Cortana's command? Also, The Weapon lured Cortana to Zeta Halo to delete her. What could the weapon have done to get Cortana's attention enough for her to fall into the trap?
I asked myself these exact questions too. Isn’t cortana supposed to be this supremely intelligent omnipotent being that absorbed a plethora of information by one of the smartest species to ever live? You’d think she wouldn’t be outsmarted by a simple copy from the UNSC. She even acknowledges beforehand Halsey will likely make a copy to replace her one day.
Idk if I’m dumb or what but I still don’t get why Cortana did the things she did I mean how can she plan on wiping everything out and did succeed in destroying planets and humans she once was made to protect to then all the sudden 180 and admit she was wrong and sacrifice herself I really don’t get the story writing there…? Something I’m missing? Or just bad story telling/them not yet explaining?
it wasn't as sudden as you think. it's been a whole three years. that's 3 years of introspection and self analysing, figuring things out on her end. i think it was a gradual thing, but she only fully realised it soon before the events of the game
@@idrinkdiesel8451 Yea I get that but what I’m really getting at is I want more of a explanation as to why betray John and the UNSC and start killing everyone off what made her do it or what was the goal of doing it? To have such an idea and almost fully succeed in that plan to then just switch you know? Usually when you have a character like that they don’t really turn back on such crazy ideas/plans. I feel like those writing the story didn’t really know what to do with her and how the story should end/continue. If they can just fill in the blanks I’ll be happy cause there’s a lot missing here…
@@Ark-gk9jn I think being in the domain changed her mind, though still not too far from the original cortana, just her views, desires and attitude changed. Though I think it was still enough to recognise when she was in the wrong, after all that time
I think one of the things that lead her to this realisation is when Atriox talked to her about consequences of her actions, and showed that John has been defeated by him.

Here's a few disappointments tho. 1. no prometheans (they couldn't just disappear) 2. no Spirit of Fire returning 2. no Osiris (they couldn't just disappear either + this game could've fixed them, considering that 343 still acknowledged H4 and H5 campaigns (otherwise why would they keep "The Created" with guardians?).

I haven't played it, but i did watch a 3 hour long play through of the game.
I can' say with out a doubt, terrible.
However, that's not including the game play, and game play is different from the story ark. So, there is that.

@@ArkElementStudios 3 hours is a pretty good time to figure out whether a story is good or not, infinites story is not good.

Also it may explain why Atriox want to free the endless so he can somehow control time and go back before his planet was destroyed
Edit: At the start of the legendary cut scene it says 97,368 BCE, the human/forerunner wars were in 106,445 BCE so Atriox may have already went back in time
Edit2: I think the ring shaped structures in the game have a bigger meaning, I think they will be used as time portals in the game, so you can jump between times to go back to Zeta halo in the past.
Wauw didnt figure that out your probaly right nice job
That's one hell of a theory and I absolutely think it's a great one. For Atriox to release the Endless in favor of getting his homeworld back is one hell of a move but something no one was anticipating.
It's insane that Time Travel wasn't ever truly a thing in the Halo Game Series until now and to think there'd be a species that could potentially do that is even more surprising. Although I'm pretty sure some form of time travel made an appearance at some point in lore, but I could be wrong.
Harbinger connected with a "very old signal". That was IMO Atriox, already in the past, getting everything needed to bring the Endless back.
I swear u hope ur right and holy crap you’d have the craziest theory ever if you got that correct let’s hope so🙏🏽
@@ArkElementStudios i believe first strike used time travel
Like I wished we explored the palace of pain, mendicant bias (as parts of him I believe still reside in zeta Halo) the master builder etc. they just didn’t tho :(
There's also an audio log where she said this to the captured marine
Perhaps whatever was "helping" the weapon and made the portal for chief controls time somehow
I wish they just had arbiter join chief for this. Be Ai controlled for singleplayer and he could be player 2 when co op releases.
lmao. The Campaign itself is a DLC. Halo Infinite itself is the client to manage your spartan and online play. I knew before even playing the game that they will probably have nothing but DLC's coming out.

Nah fam. She alive.
she technally arent the dead, only the old sofware version of Cortana is dead
that or offensive bias decided chief was worth saving, if offensive was activated manipulating the ring is about the easiest shit he could do
I think she's still alive too.

Very similiar to H2 during the flood invasion on High Charity where Cortana breifly states there is another extremely inteligent AI fighting her routins being M Bias.

-You mentioned the post credits scene but not the dialogue for the legendary version (which has two forerunners conversing, whom I'm assuming are the Didact and the Librarian regarding how they want the Endless to be lost to time and that the halos have no effect on them, hence their imprisonment)
-it's not so much we'll see them in the next game but expansion. 343 has already mentioned Infinite will be a Gaas release meant to last up to ten years so we'll likely see story expansions ala destiny 2.
In the subtitles for the legendary version of the cutscene you can see the two conversing are Despondent Pyre and the other one was Great Enact or something. I got it myself but none of the uploads I can find on youtube have subtitles

Halo Infinite was so refreshing and felt so new at the same time, its amazing.

They want this game for 10 years
Yeah its basically going to be a mortal kombat 11 aftermath situation with story dlc. Which is cool and im fine with that and hopefully chief catches up with atriox in the next part of the story.
First video to explain the whole game in proper detail. Really great job 👍
There’s definitely gonna be a story dlc
Yeah and it’s gonna be free
@@thedeadestchannel0989 If you own the campaign already. Possibly. Fully free. No chance
It’ll probably be paid DLC like destiny. The multiplayer will have free updates though.
Based on the current monetization that I;ve seen I wouldn't be surprised if it was Destiny-level DLC. Unfortunately for my wallet, I am perfectly fine spending the money to expand on this game's story.
@@tylergandee5318 me too
I love the Cortana corruption twist. As someone whos played from first and know that bungie had a fondness of writing insane a.i(Durandal), this to me feels very fitting.
Chief: Dr Halsey...Cortana is rampant...
Halsey: Have you tried to turn her off and back on?
I played the game on Heroic and I didn't really have a hard time with Jega, the boss I had the most trouble with was the Brute Chieftain that ambushes you in the laser drill control room. Holy fuck that guy charges at like 10000000000000000 mph.
Bro that guy was a whole menace. That was the first time I actually rage quited and left the game for tmrw lol. Like he was a whole boss of his own. Him jumping across the map THEN having to face the harbinger again was so hard lol. I think I was mainly frustrated bc I wasn’t getting a checkpoint at all lol
Before that boss fight started I had a sniper and a plasma pistol. and I thought I wouldn't need anything else butt I was dead wrong.
The *pros:*
The *cons:* (that I noticed at least, & probably many others)
(should have given armor instead)
(maybe they'll add it later? other than just getting the achievements)
Best story explanation I found so far.
It feels odd that Cortana was so murderous and then all of sudden sacrificed herself. Feels too fast, to abrupt. I think a major showdown between John and Cortana would have been a much better plot to pursue.
crazy been okaying halo since 3 crazy my childhood and the story flew so fast
Corrtana has always been my favorite character in halo, and I'm sad that's she is gone :( hopefully she will be there in the future.
After playing the campaign I would say the original Cortana is permanently gone. I love the weapon though!
I think at this point, cortana will always come back. Think about it. Cortana is masterchief is guidance
@@coldfruit the Weapon is Cortana
@@wyattrobinson7358 the weapon is a copy of Cortana, a clone so to speak, a clone of a clone
Really hope we don't need to wait another 6 years for a sequel.
No sequel, expansions for the next 10 years
@@why8298 you’re kidding, a dlc at least?
@@thecovenant6482 that’s what an expansion is, they’re gonna add more campaigns
they are adding more campaigns to this game. we dont know whats the interval but think of them as seasons. Maybe thats why season 2 of the multiplayer got delayed so they can finish the campaign.
@@joebestavros oh that's cool so this game will have more campaigns. Kinda like mortal kombat 11 aftermath I guess. In terms of it being a dlc story or campaign
It’s a cool campaign but honestly overall it felt kinda underwhelming and more like just a revival to fix cortanas storyline from what they did in 5!
It would have been nice to have heard Cortana reveal how she feels about John.
She explicitly says it many times, unless you mean in this video
Harbinger was found in one of those square things we see now and again. How she was set free we find out the banished forced a unsc officer to work with them to free Harbinger. 2ed mission. Is where I got the info
Thanks for the video. I played the Campaign over the course of several days and I was lost on who the Harbinger was. Nicely done.
Fantastic explanation! My memory of the story is pretty fuzzy after Halo 3, so I appreciate the clean video!
I saw somewhere that 343 just copyrighted a title named ‘Halo:The Endless’. Im thinking this is DLC 1.
And ya the Cortana thing upset me too.
You should make a video going over how the Guardians died. You can see dead or deactivated guardians on the outer edge of the map near region 1.
Havent played much halo games except 3 and odst and this one but i thoroughly enjoyed halo infinite.
Thnx
This literally is the first Halo game to have a TRUE happy ending
Well ODST felt pretty good too
What happy ending ? Most humans are dead, most ships are destroyed, most spartans are killed. Even Cortanan is dead. I do not see a a happy ending.

Beautifully made video, had no clue what was going on in the beginning. All makes sense now
I didn't really understand everything when playing the game.
What a great video you’ve made. Thank you.
I enjoyed that.
(It was destroyed)
• In an Audio Log (UNSC Audio Log #3: Duty Clearance) you hear Lasky has sent the rest of Blue Team elsewhere prior to the events of 07.
Infinite.
@@ArkElementStudios you could even EVEN say… Endless

While the weapon is excellent, she’ll never be Cortana. Even though it’s the same voice actress and copy. I guess 343 pigeonholed themselves in the narrative with Cortana and this was the best solution. It’s not terrible, but also sad we’ll never see the original Cortana again.
Great Job breaking down the timeline! Very informative video!
Holy crap this was so good so thorough! Thanks!
Nope. They’re going to sing songs about this games lackluster campaign simply because of the few actually good aspects of it
i still have a ton of questions.

The guardians are most likely deactivated since Cortana is dead now.
I can see why they killed off cortana, they kinda wrote themselves into a corner so the only option they had.
@@krakeneggss2767 Well atleast you can actually see the wreck of the infinity far away with an wreck from an guardian
Dude... all these cutscenes are made in-engine and in-game. they aren't pre-rendered like H2A's. of course they're not gonna be like that. and seeing cortana's death AGAIN kind of removes the impact Halo 4 had. all we know is that she died. and wdym "so casually killed off withbarely any screen time or explanation"? it's been a thing stated right at the start and we see Chief's emotions and troubles with that fact and coming to terms with it throughout the entire game.
Thanks for the video, i love this channel!
I just want the homie Arby tbh
Don't forget when master chief said red flag and said 034 -Samuel is chiefs old friend from reach that died
You mean the one who teamed up with the chief and saved all sentient life forms from the firing of the Halo array?
The only thing that hit me was when, the one Spartan Chief ends up saving. Ends up dying and the emotions he was feeling after his final words broke me. I felt what he was feeling and the first time knowing Chief was done playing around. Great comeback game by far!💯🤙
I have the sneaking suspicion the “silent auditorium is the holding cell for the primordial. Moreover I also get the ideas that the endless is the primordial.
Yep I have the same though harbinger says court room/ execution/ and imprisonments
@@ArkElementStudios I understand that, I just would almost rather them somehow make the precursors relevant than diminish the flood, and bringing in an even more powerful enemy will 100% do that
@@xxstankyzxx2890 seems fair.
Very entertaining--and informative! Thanks!
Nice story recap, I really enjoyed playing this campaign
And of course one thing I noticed a lot was that the harbinger used some of the exact same quotes from the gravemind in halo 2
The secret ending also hints about offensive bias on legendary
Who that?
@@spartan_a1176 basically another AI that the forunners created to fight M Bias because he was corrupted by the Flood
Great video man.
The story was a bit disappointing to me, main things that I thought didn’t work -
The banished being a major threat, I thought their capital ship got destroyed in halo wars 2?
I honestly loved the campaign
The second was killed by brutes, who i'm pretty sure where the ones we fought at the end of the AA gun section.
two actually, he killed the one where we get the shield module
Halo infinite is supposed to be the platform for the next 10 years of halo, so, there should be and im pretty sure its confirmed that there will be campaign content/story updates and probably DLC. Hopefully one shows us where the fuck the arbiter is or something tells us, i need to know.
Nice breakdown thanks!
Great work! I love it!
343 “our game is dying, let’s kill off a big main character”
Also 343 “our game is dying again, let’s kill off the big main character we brought back from the dead”
……. Great writing story team 👍👌👌💯💯💯💯💯
Too many questions left unanswered, has to be some story dlc coming out. Wheres the Infinity? What happens to the Sprit of Fire?
Dude infinity was blown up in the first cutscene
@@chrisfaille4774 Nope, its lost with its crew as it was said in like the second mission
spirit of fire is still at the ark, most likely still fighting the banished and waiting for anders to get back with help
@@colnz1233 Yea but the fact that Anders was stopped by Cortana means theres more to thier story
@@Trollmaina it's entirely possible that cortana never found anders on the ring, which means shes holding out for a time she can escape with it to unsc controlled space(and it's possible she doesn't know that cortana is dead now)
Such a great video bro!
Honestly, I'm happy with how the campaign turned out. Both gameplay and story wise. Here's a few disappointments tho.
1. no prometheans (they couldn't just disappear)
2. no Spirit of Fire returning
2. no Osiris (they couldn't just disappear either + this game could've fixed them, considering that 343 still acknowledged H4 and H5 campaigns (otherwise why would they keep "The Created" with guardians?). Unless they died ofc)
4. where did the Guardians go?
Wait I thought atriox went back in time because in the legendary cutscene it has a time stamp of 97368 BCE
I feel like we was just hearing the voices of the past not that he went that far into the past he was doing this in real time
@@windingroadelven yeah it was weird I was waiting for a present time time stamp when it showed atriox but I’d also assume that atriox is in the present and the time stamp was for the voices however atriox doesn’t have his banished paint on idkkk
