Sherry is in this video. XOXO Brandi Modrak XOXO means hugs and Kisses to you and your family.
The girl on the video was a love of Steve Perry. They were madly In love according to Steve which he stayed in a recent interview., But life on the road and with the band peaking at the same time eventually took its toll on the relationship. Neither of them ever married.
But Steve did find love again with a woman with stage 4 cancer. He thought better of it, but he said the connection was so strong, he asked a mutual friend for her contact info. She was a psychologist and he never regretted the time they had together. It was his soul mate he says. She made him promise to never hide again, and she is the reason at 70ish he entered back onto music after decades of not.
Hey Hap! That was Steve’s long-time girlfriend Sherrie Swafford featured in the video. They dated 5-6 years. Wish they’d married each other. Read in an interview...Sherrie said they were crazy in love. Sherrie never married and neither did Steve. Sad...life on the road took it’s tole. She’s beautiful. Beautiful couple.
Sherry was his girlfriend at the time, the girl in the video. He ended up giving this song and it royalties to her.
You will love Steve Perry's Foolish heart. One of his best singles
Beautiful song.
Yes baby. "Foolish Heart" is my favorite, very underrated. ❤
I love how they all gather around the star to calm him down and the creative genius’s are pushing their ideas. 😂 Steve didn’t need them. He is very sincere in his message, didn’t need the junk. ❤️
He's always been very serious about his music. He took care of his voice and was perfectionistic about his vocal performances.
Steve Perry was in 2 long term relationships 1 with Sherry and 1 Kelly he took care of her till she died of cancer RIP Kelly. He wrote a song about her in 2017 XOXO Brandi Modrak XOXO means hugs and Kisses to you and your family.
He was also with a woman named Robin in between Sherrie and Kellie. Steve was with Robin for about 10 years.
Great reaction again Hap. The blonde girl in this video was Steve’s long-time girlfriend Sherrie Swafford. Steve has said in interviews that life on the road was very hard on their relationship and eventually they went their “Separate Ways!” No pun intended🤣 In the later years of his life away from Journey he met and fell in love with who he called his soul-mate, Kellie who was terminally ill with cancer. She made Steve promise that he would go back to his music become it was his passion and true love. He has since been back out from what had been a pretty low-key almost reclusive life and has written and made a new album titled Traces. I would really love for you to react to Why Can’t This Night Go On Forever by Journey from the Raised on Radio album. It’s an amazing song and Steve’s vocals are from another world. Another suggestion if you want to go his solo route I would recommend Missing You from the album entitled For the Love of Strange Medicine. It is such a beautiful ballad and Steve’s range and soulful delivery as such a beautiful Tenor voice is absolutely crystal clear and amazing. The lyrics are gorgeous and the song will give you chills. Definitely looking forward to your “Journey” 🤣down the Journey and Steve Perry rabbit hole. Enjoy♥️
He’s had relationships but never got married. He witnessed a lot of marriages and divorces, boyfriend and girlfriend break ups including his own. His parents who divorced when he was very young also had an effect on him. Marriage spooked him! His last relationship ended in his girlfriend dying from breast cancer in 2012. He is 72 now and if he doesn’t get involved again I can’t say that I blame him but I love and respect him so much that I do wish he would find somebody. He has given us so much timeless music of which I am grateful for and he deserves to be happy with someone. 🥰😎
Yes, yes ..... must hear "Girl can't help it"! Steve has amazing vocals.
Steve Perry....hubba hubba
“Foolish heart” next
When this first came out, I was listening to the radio. It was the 3rd song about Sherry, so they had to play them together. Sherry by the Four Seasons, Sherry Darling by Springsteen and this one. Unfortunately, they broke up.
Steve did have a serious relationship with a woman that he knew was dying from breast cancer. They were in love. Before she died, she made him promise that he would sing again and he did. So tragic.
Love Steve Perry! His voice is one of a kind. I grew up listening to Steve Perry with Journey. All of their songs were great and are still amazing today when I listen to them. It brings back lots of memories of growing up!
This was from Steve's very first solo album.....'Street Talk' (1984), which was pretty successful! The lady in the video as you know by now, is indeed Oh Sherrie. Steve's then girlfriend, who he had been with for a number of years. They broke up some time in the mid-late 80's.
According to Steve, he had been jamming and writing some songs with a friend one night. And as the hours passed Sherrie told Steve, that she had; had enough and that she was going to bed. As she got up, the words.......'Oh Sherrie!' came out. Steve said he knew that there was a song in there somewhere. And that is where and how the song came together!
Steve has been in many long term relationships, Sherrie, Robin. However, he found his 'true love' Kellie. Who had stage 4 cancer. After meeting her, they were inseparable. They were together for about a year and half. Until the cancer took her from him!!
You should react to ..... Strung Out and Foolish Heart!
Steve Perry has a voice so unbelievable. This song is not too deep or not to shallow. Fun song! Such a good reaction HAP! ❤️❤️
Love this song, love Steve Perry! Thank you! 👏👏👏🎵🎵🎶
The girl in the video was actually his girlfriend at that time her name was Sherry! They eventually ended up breaking up but she’ll forever be known as the girl in the Oh Sherry video!! Great song!
_sherrie_
Like I said before buckle up your in for a great ride! Strung out , girl can't help it are a couple of my favorites a true Rock Legend!!!
Great song sung by a superb voice. I love Steve Perry. I think his voice is flawless.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Steve Perry was the king of voice and he was married to Kelley Nash and he promised her that he would return to music on her death bed. Steve is the only human who can hit a G5 octave without screaming and not only hit it once but hit it and go out of it and then hit it again without any problems all the other musicians have to scream to hit a G5 octave and no other human man or woman can match Steve Perry's voice 100%.
Steve and Kellie were not married. Steve was terrified of marriage but if Kellie had lived, he said she would have been the one to marry.
That was actually Sherrie his girl friend at the time.
This song is from his album titled Street Talk. It was a big hit for him at the time it was released in 1984 The song hit #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on Billboard's Rock chart. He does have a daughter from a previous relationship but no he never married. He did have a relationship with more than one woman.
The end of his music video " Strung Out " ties in with the beginning of this music video. The guy at the end is talking to Steve about trumpets in this video and Steve was telling him there aren't trumpets in the song. Referring to this song.
Steve's a good actor he throws dialogue like a pro so natural n front of camera.. he could make some Hollywood actor a run for their money
What a reaction! (AGAIN)
Thank you for reacting to more Journey songs 💛
Steve Perry reminds me so much of Freddie, his voice, his attitude the way if he didn’t like something he’d walk away or not do it! Thanks my dear friend Hap for a great video and your great reaction. Love ❤️ from across the pond, Dee
I’ve always liked this song!! The melody is so unique. I think of it as an uptempo ballad perhaps. Anyone who’s ever heard the song would probably recognize it immediately!! You can’t go wrong with the voice of Steve Perry! Wonderful reaction to this great, classic song!!🌻🌻
Oooh and I highly recommend reacting to “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey!!! It’s just incredible!
Energetic reaction to a classic! 👏👏
Steve Perry's, voice so enjoyable. That video was cool, very creative, a fun reaction, Hap! Thank you!! 💕💕💕🙏
Love to hear him sing awesome voice 🎶❤️🎶❤️
The woman in the video is his long time girlfriend, Sherri Swafford (Spelling?). They were together for a very long time, and are still friends to this day.
A few years ago, Steve lost his girlfriend, Kelly, to brain cancer. He released his CD, Traces, as a fulfilled promise to her to not go back into the seclusion he went into after his years with Journey left him burned out.
He never married, but not too long ago. Steve learned he had a daughter and a couple of grandkids. It warms my heart to know he has family.
Correction...WE learned Steve has a daughter and grandchildren. Steve has known for decades he had a daughter. He just never talked about her. Steve keeps his private life private.
His song “Foolish Heart” and “Strung Out” are really amazing hope you check those two out!!
I still have this vinyl in my collection. Love this album.
Great reaction, HAP!! Love his voice and his song writing. Steve Perry's solo work is fantastic. It's a very MTV 80s style video, not my favorite of all his videos, but once he starts singing - I'm totally into it every time!
Same cast of characters show up in the Strung Out video. Cheesy, but I don't care, it's Steve Perry!!! Great song choice!
The girl in the video was his long term relationship. That is Sherry.
This has become one of my all time favorite vocals by Steve Perry including Journey songs too. Fun song with high energy powerhouse vocals from that awesome start to finish. Add to that the emotion he sings with too.
This is a spoof on the old MTV videos that they used to make them do.
Those glasses are more 1970's than the '80s.
Yeah Hap, Steve Perry reaction!! This video features his girlfriend at the time Sherrie Swafford. You could hear hesrts across the world breaking💔. The actors in the video pop up in another Journey video. Song does showcase his voice nicely. Looking forward to more. So many more fantastic songs out there. When you do Open Arms, please no NOT use the live from Houston version. The song chorus is not from the original recording and missing those great inflection variations. Made my day Hap! Peace J ✌ ☮ 🔥🎤🎶
Side note: he gave her all rights to this song.
Makes me love him even more. ❤
@@carolynsimmons3087 Maybe that's why she's been silent about their relationship all these years. Remarkably loyal to Steve.
Just found your channel keep up the good work, and Happy New Year
Thanks, you too!
You should do Strung Out another track from the Album that starts to set up the scene for the Sherrie Video. There are some great songs on this Album. He was with Sherrie for 5years and then a girl called Robin for 8 or 9 years, so yes he’s had a few long relationships but the last one would have been the one with Dr Kellie Nash who passed away in late 2012 from cancer. She was his world and he has said he tried to love the Cancer away. She was just beautiful and had the best smile and he’s not afraid to say how hard it was when she past, he also has said a hearts never been truly broken until the one you really love goes. Her passing hit him hard but if nothing else Steve is a practical man so he took himself off to therapy for a few years, too work through his loss but he can still tear up a bit today when he talks about her.🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇬🇧🕺🏻💃🎸☘️
Steve is such a huge talent. I love this song & video. Steve actually signed all rights of this song to Sherry and I imagine she’s lived comfortably with the proceeds from it. What a terrific thing for him to do gifting her with this song.
Great reaction! Steve Perry has kept his private life very private so how many serious relationships he's had I think no one knows but him?? In any case this was his girlfriend Sherrie in the video. It's a beautiful song sung by a man with an incredible voice....a favorite. Thanks for playing and commenting on Oh Sherrie💘
Journey songs:
OPEN ARMS
WHO'S CRYING NOW
LOVIN TOUCHIN SQUEEZIN
DON'T STOP BELIEVING
Steve Perry gave his girlfriend Sherrie in the video the rights to this song.
Fun fact - my brother introduced Steve Perry to the lady who inspired this song.
I love Steve Perry and I love this song. Excellent!! Thank you for reacting to this.
👍👌😊
Great reaction HAP. Love this song it came out when I was 14 years old. Watched the video many times. I remember in 1984 a whole lot of my friends had a crush on Steve Perry just because this video. I believe the girl in the video was his girlfriend at the time.😀👍❤️✌️🌼
It was his girlfriend and he gave her all rights to this song.
@@carolynsimmons3087 What a gift!❤️✌️🌼
He says that she might be able to buy a cup of coffee with it these days. LOL
Gotta do Foolish Heart now! Great reaction
This was the early MTV era where "prestige" music videos had a whole long intro and storyline around the song.. which was great for them cause it filled airtime and in those days, they needed to fill it. And it was also the time when famous Hollywood directors would moonlight on music videos.. guys like John Landis (Animal House), William Friedkin (Exorcist) and Martin Scorsesse (Goodfellas) all made high profile videos.
The name of the Album is Street Talk and he did it in 1984 and it was his first Solo Album. This is a great video.🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇬🇧🕺🏻💃🎸☘️
"Foolish Heart" is another great song.
Oh BTW, great song choice LCB!!🙂
Please do Separate Ways!!!
Have you seen the sequel Video to OH Sherrie? the Video ( Strung Out)
Kelly Nash was the LOVE of Steve Perry's life!!!! He never married but the two of them got together in 2010 and were deeply madly in love. Kelly was diagnosed with cancer shortly after they started seeing each other.. she died eighteen months or so later.. a song from her Steven Perry has never Benny Head Over Heels are deeply serious about any woman. Gorgeous but I'm sure she was one in a million as a woman.. it was heartbreaking that she died because he was older when he met her.. Steve Perry said " I thought love could cure anything ". Kelly made him promise her before she died that she would return to music. She told him he was too talented to stay in hibernation forever.. he did hear back and perform but he didn't do what he was doing back in the 1980s.
Steve Perry gentle soul meet the woman of his dreams and finally fall head over heels in love and then she gets diagnosed with cancer and died.. how tragic!!
Kellie had already been diagnosed with cancer before they met, and had already had a double mastectomy. Steve was a little bit nervous about it because he had already lost so many people he loved, but he said there was just something about her smile. So even though he was a little bit apprehensive about having a relationship with her, he fell in love anyway.
Sherry Swaford and Steve Perry were high school sweethearts, and they stayed together for a long time till she cheated on him, but they are still good friends and if you listen to the song he says now he knows her lying side. Listen to the song and you will understand, but he took her back after she cheated on him again, and the band hated her for many reasons. She did get married 1 or 2xs. XOXO Brandi Modrak XOXO means hugs and Kisses to you and your family.
Steve didn't meet Sherry until after he joined Journey. Her grandparents lived close to his grandparents and he would see her over there every now and then. He had to convince her to go out with him, because her family didn't like that he was a rock star with long hair. She finally said yes and they dated for about 5 years.
U should react to Steve's Strung Out because this s d prelude to this video
This song was about his girlfriend Sherrie who is in the video. He ended up giving her the rights to this song cause he is just awesome like that! Unfortunately they broke up after about five 5 1/2 years of them being together I guess Sherry wanted him to be more grounded and at home but when you’re looking to be in the music biz it’s a lot of traveling and you’re hardly around.
Sper👍
Steve is an amazing talent. I heard Sherry was a long time girlfriend. Is it a truth? Not sure. Thanks for playing it
Yes, they dated for about 5 years. They broke up shortly after Steve wrote this song for her. He gave her the rights to it.
Next time u react to Journey Girl Can't Help It 1986. Also Still They Ride with lyrics. Both songs I think you'll like. This song wasn't my favorite...Steve can sing anything (phonebook) and I'd enjoy it but this was more of a fun cute song. Oh by the way he dated the girl in the video for awhile!
Love Girl Can't Help It! The live version is the best one.
You should react to his latest solo album Traces, after all these years he still has it😎
You should check out mother father the range is insane !!
Steve never married because he watched his parents and everyone in Journey get divorced. He was terrified. He loved Sherrie Swafford but THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE was Dr. Kellie Nash. He said she is the one he would have married. Unfortunately, she passed away b4 they could marry.
Journey just released a new song and video today, The Way We Used to Be (about covid). You should check it out!
Sherrie in the video was his girlfriend
Actual girlfriend in the white dress.
Thats Sherrie his real girlfriend .she s so pretty but they broke up ,
Steve is such a huge talent. I love this song & video. Steve actually signed all rights of this song to Sherry and I imagine she’s lived comfortably with the proceeds from it. What a terrific thing for him to do gifting her with this song.
He says she might be able to buy a cup of coffee with it. LOL
