I have got 22 Sky Pencils in a hedge row with 10 camellias in front of them. It creates a great hedge along the property line as well as a wonderful backdrop for the camellia.
Driving up to a home with those tall slender trees is so impressive. Slender silhouette is a heart tugger. They all are but Twombly’s needs to find my yard! Thank you gentlemen.
I bought two Tsukasa Silhoutee from Mr Maple after your watching video by the parking lot. so T Silhouette is my favorite columnar tree. #japanesemaples
Killer video amazing lineup!!! I definitely see some more that I gotta have on my list!!! 🔥🔥🔥 thank y’all so much for sharing this video and for all your hard work!!! Best nursery ever!!!! 💯🍁💯🍁 MrMaple 4 Life 🔥🔥🔥
Loved your video. Just now started planting Sky Pencil Holly down a driveway that is long and skinny. Started with 2.5 gallons each so far we have purchased about 40 and are using them for hedges. LOVED YOUR VIDEO. Going to share it with friends and family and are now following you
Columnar plants are a favorite of mine! Especially in pairs🪴🪴I have Twombly’s Red Sentinal, Tsukasa Silhouette and Sky Pencil punctuating points of entry👩🏻🌾
I like Arborvitae and Juniper trees because they give privacy year-round as well as columnar Norway spruce. I do like the maples, but I have too many leaf trees in my 1/4-acre lot, and I rake leaves for 2 months, so I prefer trees without leaves especially along neighbor's fence lines for privacy.
#japanesemaples Great informative video. I have thought of adding a columnar of some kind to my landscape such as a twomblys. Just curious what is the big difference between a twomblys red sentinel maple and a skeeters broom maple. Is one faster growing than the other? Great video by the best out there. Loving the content y’all are bringing to the channel. 💯🍁🔥💯🍁🔥
@@MrMapleShow Speaking of roots, are you able to list off the typical rooting spread habits of these plants? I usually assume they will spread as much as their canopy but I'm probably wrong. I also don't know how deep they go, which matters for planting here where my water sources and drainage zones are already stuck in place.
It is not the same shape. Twombly’s is much more narrow in my experience. Pixie starts out fairly thin but I wouldn’t consider it columnar as a cultivar. Very nice tree though

Japanese maples are great for leaf drop because they don’t leave a lot of build up
Nice fellows! Mi casa es Su casa lol It's Japanese who knew!

I like the twombly red sentinel
Any idea when you'll have Acer saccharum 'Monumentale' Columnar Sugar Maple back in stock? I can't find these anywhere.
Hard to get rootstock lately but we will offer again

Can any others apart from DeGroots be done with cuttings?
Sky pencil in this video is also from
Rooted cuttings
Would ginkgo Grindstone fit in this category?
Yes for sure
How do these very tall narrow trees hold up in winds?
Better than wide trees typically
I just picked up a Pixie that is very columnar, would you say it will have a similar habit to Twombly's?

Why do you not state first thing the zones for each plant?
We talk about zones a lot on this channel. Anything we miss is also detailed on MrMaple.com
Why is everyone losing garden space? 😢
Because we have smaller yard and also gardeners have lots of plants
@@MrMapleShow 💚
Try recommending native trees and plants instead.
We offer lots of native plants. There are also many non native plants that are better than natives so we recommend those when they are better
