8:05 but royal flush and straight flush scale off the exact same cards, they are essentially the exact same thing. Flush five scales differently and has its own planet
to be fair i do think that's one of the most unintuitive things about Balatro. Royal Flush literally only matters for the Joker you get for unlocking it, and *nothing else in the entire game*.
i get why they call it royal flush (that's what it's called!) but it's a weird exception to every single rule this entire game teaches you, and so i think it's completely understandable frost would get confused by it
Royal flush is kinda just a nickname for the strongest hand you can play in normal poker (straight flush with the most valued cards), but if Balatro is your introduction to poker it kinda is unintuitive, specially when exposed to the hands you can't make in a normal poker game
@@dingochungis6814 I agree, but mechanically it makes sense imo. On one hand I can understand why To-Do List is so restrictive ("Is", not "Contains"), because $5 for it would be really overpowered if literally every hand counted for High Card, or 95% of hands counted for Pair. On the other hand, I'd honestly take a slight nerf to the money payout for it to be changed lol
@@TrueChaoSclx imo that just makes the to-do list more boring. the point of the joker is to risk bad hands for more money. getting free money when it says pair or something is kinda lame.

The argument about To-Do List has everything to do with how it's worded. Balatro differentiates "is" and "contains". TDL needs the hand to be SPECIFICALLY a Flush, not a Straight Flush, not a Flush Five, a normal Flush, because it uses the word "is". Jokers like "The Trio" uses the word "contains", so hands like Full House, 4 of a Kind, any hand that has three of the same rank WILL activate. Be mindful of those two words to see if different hands other than the mentioned hand will trigger or not.

flush five face card builds are so good but so volatile. I got a triple Triboulet run once (Ankh+blueprint) and gigadied when I got to a boss that debuffed all face cards

It's not just vampire you want, it's the legendary blue joker. I think it's name is triboulet. 2x mult when king or queen scored. Took me from ten million to the quadrillions ante fourteen needs. A king flush five is x32 during scoring before stuff like glass red seal dusk joker ECT. Shame it's legendary. When frost finds it what a thumbnail it'll be

Nah, that should be reserved for the best possible Flush Five (aka Aces) like Royal Flush is the best possible Straight Flush.

That said, this might be a nuclear take, but Ouija is suuuch a bad spectral compared to all the others. The -1 hand size is just such a steep price for an effect that's so unreliable compared to all the other spectrals.

@@DreadVille1I’m just limit testing. At that point you can’t go above a certain value that becomes infinite and the blinds are placeholders that you can’t play any combination of hands to pass. May see if I can find a way to force past it, but will be interesting for mods in the future.
