I use to like Jim Breuer back in the day. I.e half baked. Ect. Saw him do stand up 6 years ago. He was okay. But the more I watched half baked, and other comedy specials of his, the more I realize how annoying he is. He's not even funny anymore. Now just annoying.
Despite the fact that John Goodman was five times the size of Robert DeNiro, Goodman was stunningly good in the speech and mannerisms of De Niro. And, Cheri Oteri was a "stone-cold fox" back then.
I love it when Jim Breuer does Pesci. John Goodman was fantastic as DeNiro. And hands down to Darell Hammond impersonating Richard Dreyfuss. I actually thought it was Richard himself. The voice was spot on
@@xxrazaxx 100% my friend. One of my absolute favorites. Ive watched his comedy over and over again. Its always funny even multiple times later. You can't beat that. I want to see him live
Jim Breuer is often underrated as an actor but he was superb in this sketch along with John Goodman of course. That takes skills to maintain this dialogue, live, without making a mistake, going.
When Pesci asked, "Did he (Dreyfuss) just insult me?" the SNL writes blew a golden opportunity. Instead of responding, "I heard things, I heard things," Goodman should have replied, "He insulted you just a little bit, a little bit." (GoodFellas, 1990).
Think they wanted to stay away from "Little bit" lines bc every other TV sketch show with Deniro impression does that line to death! In 90s, there were shows like SNL, Madtv, HBO Hardcore TV , etc..which all did Deniro characters using that phrase. Plus, Alec Baldwin already did it on SNL, before Goodman
OMG! The best impersonations ever! Jim Bruer is so underrated and Darrell Hammonds Richard Dreyfuss impersonation is dead on! Loved John Goodman's Deniro impersonation!
Oh, my! I had forgotten about that one. All four of those impressions were BRILLIANT and SPOT-ON! I had forgotten John Goodman could do such a great De Niro!
I was a like skeptical when John Goodman came out as De Niro, but as soon as he squinted his eyes and uttered "A little bit; a little bit" I was sold!! 😆👍
It's so crazy how I was around 10 years old when I was watching this on TV. Now I've met or seen; Jim Breuer, John Goodman, Robert De Niro, Marisa Tomei, and Richard Dreyfuss since then.
You're kidding, right? Hammond did EXACTLY what he was hired to do. He was the everyman who could be counted on to nail his parts...he was not the bombastic chaos of a Ferrell, or a Breuer, but his impressions were top-notch, his subtle performances lent the air of believability to nearly every sketch he was in... Run of the mill??? Hardly. I think you're thinking of Rob Riggle and Jerry Minor (among others...)
This shows how much of a legend John Goodman really is. He had no business pulling off this impression of DeNiro. Darrell Hammond came in the clutch with this spot on Dreyfuss impression.
These season, this cast, and THESE skits is what my Saturday nights as a child/teen consisted of. Jim, Chris, Molly, Cherri, Tim, Darrel, etc. This is my my favorite cast by far.

pretty good but dreyfuss is not that uptight irl.
Darrell Hammond is well-appreciated.
