In fairness, the people crushing on the characters are usually using alternate versions of them that are not possessed, at least from what I saw back in the day
@@jittercritter What you said isn't wrong, but at the same time the games where the alternate versions of the OG characters came out way later into the franchise.
For a while the animatronics were the same in every version of the games until new ones came out but the not possessed versions aren't technically Canon and the one that are aren't even real (example the game where you move around a room and have to close the door of the room or the wardrobe door, it's theorized/probably confirmed that they are just little disks that make certain sound waves that create a hallucination) are just in someone head, if I'm wrong about that I'm sorry though, the plot/Lore of FNAF is really messy.
Anyway, what you said is right but that happened way later.
At least up until FNAF 3 (not mentionting the games that came later) the animatronics in FNAF 1, 2 and 3 were always the same.
In FNAF 4 it's theorized to be all in someone else head and then some games are a mixture of reality and not while some don't count as Canon so people still had a crush on the OG version if it makes sense.
Example: Nightmare Freddy in FNAF 4 isn't real, it's the same Freddy of FNAF 1 but in someone else head.
So for most of the time when FNAF existed people had crush on the OG Team for a while before the actual alternate not possessed version came out.

No I mean AUs where they were never possessed and were just AI. Those AUs were super popular in the Fnaf 1 and 2 days. There were also AUs where the spirits grew up. Still definitely strange I’m not gonna deny it but it’s not like the ppl doing it were peds or anything. In my opinion Springtrap is the most concerning because there’s no way to create an alternate version of him without the possession bc he is quite visibly a corpse. If you took that away he would be Spring Bonnie, not Springtrap. There’s no way to make an alternative version where he’s just a sci-fi furry like you can with the other animatronics. He is undeniably and unchangably a rotting corpse

Oh, I have a story about my FNAF experience! So, a few years ago, I impulsively said my real first name in an online chat. Some guy started acting all creepy about it. He and I had bad history, so I was pretty scared. It took me quite a bit of time to recover from that. I swear this is relevant. Fast forward a few months, and I'm surfing UA-cam. In my recommendations, I see a FNAF theory video. This wouldn't be anything too special, except that the thumbnail included my name on a tombstone. In my rather paranoid mental state, I took this to be a threat. That is, until I looked up "fnaf (name)" and found that there was indeed a character with that name.

I mean out of all of the animatronics, Springtrap would be the most “dateable”. Considering all of the “main” animatronics being possessed by literal *children* Springtrap, who is an actual adult when he died makes it a bit less creepy. I also feel that the other animatronics that could be “ok” to be attracted to are the ones that were never possessed by any child. So the toys (minus the Puppet), the Funtimes (minus Baby and Ennard who ALSO is technically Elizabeth), the Nightmares, and the Glamrocks are “dateable”. Sure they are all murderous killing machines, but hey at least they aren’t *underage* because they’re either an actual adult or not possessed by *children* who DO NOT age.
I've always thought as long as whatever porn you consume/stuff you fantasize about IS NOT a minor, an animal (except furry stuff. Because furries anthropomorphic, I think it's perfectly fine), incest, necrophilia, or rape/SA, it's okay!
People are individuals and everyone has different tastes. But as long as those tastes aren't wrong, you have nothing to be ashamed of.
But this is why I disagree about Springtrap being debatable though. Yes, he's an adult, but liking him would still be necrophilia, AND he killed children, which is why I think it's wrong and disgusting, and it makes me very uncomfortable when people simp for him.
But on the other side of the coin, I think people shouldn't feel ashamed/feel like they're bad people if they're attracted to, for example, the nightmares, the Sister Location gang (except Circus Baby and Ennard, like you said) or the Glamrock animatronics. I disagree that they're debatable because of what I said in my first and second paragraph.

I guess to get my first thought out of the way, I noticed I contradicted myself at the end of my comment (me saying people shouldn't be shamed and attacked if they find the FNAF4, SL, and SB squad attractive because they're fictional characters... but the entire point of MY own comment was me basically saying that liking Springtrap makes you a horrible and disgusting human being), because by my logic, Springtrap is a fictional character so fantasizing about doing the bedroom tango with him isn't wrong. I also think I was basically gatekeeping doing anything that's considered problematic with the characters, whether it's a drawing, a fanfic, or etc., is always wrong, which I don't believe anymore.
In my opinion, it's about how you portray the thing and not the actual thin itself. For example, let's say a fanfic writer makes a Springtrap x [insert FNAF1 crew member] AU or something, but at the same time, the writer explores how horrifying the relationship is and the story clearly portrays the dynamic as disgusting. I'd argue what she's doing isn't wrong.
Basically, I now believe people who make problematic things shouldn't be attacked, but extremely taboo attractions are still weird as fuck, and they run the risk of glorification. However, the internet is too vast and weird people will always exist. The internet doesn't cater to anyone. People making weird ships or art of the characters should be blocked. I've also learned that some people make or consume problematic things to cope with trauma.
