  • Say goodbye to Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork playing altogether for the very last time as The Monkees. Per Nesmith declaration, Hollywood Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, CA on September 16, 2016 is his final performance with the two other surviving members on the same stage. Davy Jones died in February 2012.
The Monkees 50th Anniversary Tour encore is two of the sensational Sixties pop group's best known, beloved hits. The most famous version of "Pleasant Valley Sunday" by Gerry Goffin and Carole King was recorded by The Monkees in 1967 with lead vocals by Micky Dolenz. The same for Neil Diamond on I'm A Believer in 1966. Micky continues to tour, mostly as a solo artist.

Unusual to see Micky playing guitar & not drums. Good to see them here but alas without Davy, then Peter left us in 2019 & now dear Mike 24 hours ago. Sorry Micky, all your friends & band members departed. I do believe the soul lives on & of course the music will for generations to come. We will never forget the memorable songs The Monkees gave to us.

Exactly. When Davy died, I had his young boy image in my head. We all grow older if we are lucky but he left too soon. Youth and innocence are so fleeting. And honestly, all of us who loved them then, we still do. My first love at 13. Just as strong and lasting as love at any age.

it is always so great to see them together..I saw Peter, Micky and Davey back in the mid 80's then saw Peter , Micky and Mike in 2014 ..both shows were amazing and to be honest Micky's voice really didn't seem to change over the years..Pete actually was better and Mike was amazing also. So Now I can say I have seen all the Monkees may not have been at one time..but I can't complain.

Some of my best childhood memories are watching their shows. I almost played the records smooth...listening to them so much. My children watched their shows on MTV when the shows were played on that channel. We shared that love together....

These guys and so many more were playing on my AM only transistor radio that was glued to my ear with a single ear bud all day long. The 60s transformed modern music. It was just a amazing time period to listen and grow up in. I endulged for much of the time while experiencing some of the free love hippy culture life style. I eventually grew up and put that all behind me. However, in never grew out of the music. I still hear a song from that period and can remeber the exact emotion i felt when i first heard these songs. I no longer have my vast 45 collection i gave it all to my younger brother. I believe he still has them. I loved to go into to the record store and buy them for a buck a pop. Two sides to. What a bargin. I loved playing them as much as i could on my little plastic RCA turn table. It drove my mother nuts.

If it weren't for the Monkees I don't know what my life would have been like. My parents raised us to think Rock 'n' Roll was not real music so my brother and I didn't listen to popular music on the radio. One night I had a lot of homework to do and I wanted to stall, so I tuned in to the Monkees first episode. The show was funny and I liked the music. Didn't miss an episode for two years. But I didn't know they were on the radio. I was coming home from school on a city bus and someone was playing a transistor radio and it was "I'm a Believer" (with Cousin Brucie). Couldn't believe it! My brother and I started listening to the radio just to hear "I'm a Believer" but wound up really liking so many other songs. Within a month we went out and bought ten singles. Within ay year I was playiing guitar.
Listening to them now they sound a bit amateurish to me...their voices and their songs...except for a few. There were just so many better artists making music. But if it weren't for the Monkees I would never have gotten into Rock 'n' Roll and I owe them quite a debt. Rock 'n' Roll became a major part of my life.

Im 62 now, the perfect target age for them They filled the void left by The Beatles when they stopped being the loveable moptops. Every penny i could get my hands on went for Monkees merch. in 66 and 67. I hung on as a fan until 69. Last lp of theirs i bought was Instant Replay. Moved on to underground FM stuff, but always had a soft spot for The Monkees. Peter was my favorite. I liked how he acted dumb, but once in a while he would say something profound that showed he was very intelligent. R.I.P. David and Peter. Thanks for the good times we had!

They will always be remembered as Fun loving muscians. People have questioned their muscianship. Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork Are AWESOME muscians. Mickey Dolenz could sing very well. He was no real drummer BUT learned and kept the time well. Davey Jones could also sing very well. Headquaters is an AWESOME album. If Sgt Peppers did not come out at the same time It would of been a HUGE seller and in many peoples record collections. Headquaters was all of them writing and playing. Check it out

I used to have a well known rock band when I was younger, and I didn't like the Monkees because I knew they were a manufactured band. But in the ensuing years, I've come to love their music, even if it wasn't their own. Later, I had the pleasure of spending an evening with Mickey in New York, and he was a helluva nice guy. I wish him a long and happy life.

I saw them in UK in 90s (as loved them as a teenager watching their tv shows in 60s and 70s and I'd remained a big fan of Mike Nesmith solo)..it was a fascinating gig as Davey lead it for the most part with Mike standing way to the side of the rest of them as I believe he was being grumpy again..and Peter adding great off cuff comments..but the real surprise was when Mikey Dolenz jumped out from behind his drums and came to the front of stage..he just held the audience with his charm and humour and of course his singing..I came to really respect him..and now he is the sole survivor I would definitely go and see him if ever he tours UK again

This was fun to watch! I saw them when I was a kid. I remember everyone didn't think they could play their own instruments, but they sounded great. I'm sure they had backup musicians like in this concert, but so what. What nice memories!!!!!
