This is a first time seeing a psychiatrist helping ppl ease anxiety naturally rather than forcing them on anti depressants and anxiety meds just because they really need it.

I mean sometimes u really do need meds and they can save your life, like if your suicidal or having psychosis, also vitamins and supplements can get expensive, not regulated and if u have insurance usually meds are covered. That said i think it's good to find the root cause of your mental health issues, not just expect the meds to completely do everything.I do wish more Docs would try to help u with nutrition, look into vitamin deficiencies, and hormones among other things.

@briarrose4747 Definitely. It made all the difference for me when my doctor stopped telling me I was imagining my symptoms, and referred me to a specialist. The specialist did some testing, and found I was chronically Vitamin D deficient. 👋🥴

@@briarrose4747 Doctors are not researchers. There are many scientific disciplines who are researchers working on trying to understand depression and anxiety at a biological level. We are probably years or even decades away from getting close.
Many errors will be made before we get there. But for some reason, it is clear that medications have a place in relieving symptoms that range from difficulty coping to unbearable.
There are links that are made, though not perfectly understood. But a great improvement over pre 1960’s - when the stigma of mental illness was so appalling, it was simply not discussed in public or even in the privacy of one’s home. I am that old to remember how it was.

I have struggled with mental illness and my mental health since I was a kid. Before I even knew what those terms were. After years of depression, anxiety, and even an attempt to take my life, I never thought I would be able to live without psych medications. I clung to them because it was the only thing that made my mind quiet, but it also made me a zombie. Microdosing has given me control of my mental health for the first time, and they essentially gave me my life back.

I am very happy to hear that you were able to come off a benzodiazepine.
I was put on Clonazepam at 40 years old - it was to be for life.
My psychiatrist and my GP gave me all the info I should know about it. It was my decision and I am now 70. Without Clonazepam, I would have had zero quality of life.
I did come off once - my choice. I thought maybe because I had been exposed to all my phobias for 15 years and had a normal life, that the exposure would have taken away my phobias.
I was wrong. After 6 months, everything came back. So no choice. However, coming off slowly within a period of 6 months, and under the supervision of an MD, I did not really have any withdrawal symptoms.

Wow that's amazing I know how hard it is after several failed reductions my last one was three years ago I did three weeks it was torture the doctor put me back on them I was that bad .thats a huge achievement you should be so proud .not many doctors prescribe them now .as there so hard to come off . the doctors just don't explain about the addiction and there is not enough information about them out there .Big hugs on your massive achievement 😘❤

    • @Piccole_Follie
      @Piccole_Follie 8 місяців тому

@@jessicaharrison1401 most doctors don't care about their patients. It's us who suffer, not them. No one should be put into long term psychotropic drugs treatments to begin with. I'm still struggling with small doses compared to what I used to take and avoiding caffeine, tea and anything that triggers my anxiety + taking herbal infusions and meditating a lot. But the main job is to know that no doctor will help you (except rare cases like the doctor in this channel) and you'll have to rely on the information available to you. Read the instructions in your benzos, it says how to reduce it. Read it carefully and see what works for you. Trust your body, you will suffer and feel that which you were given medication for. You see when the limit is. You learn. It's a damn addiction and no one warns you about it but you can do it if you really want to. Your body eventually gets used to the new patterns and responds in a more natural way. You must be willing to do it, pay the price, be patient and constant and brave and decide that you no longer need to depend on it but go carefully so that you don't need to suffer dangerous consequences. Light hugs to you 💫 You are not alone: whenever you're struggling, remember there's someone else out there struggling too!!

Excellent list. Sounds like great advice just for simply living well. Interestingly, these kinds of list seem to almost only focus on the physical. What about the emotional and specifically focusing on your relationships and connections. More often, our greatest stress, depression, and anxiety stem from poor connections or unresolved relationships especially family. I think humanity would do much better if we focused more on together-care than self-care.

Humans would get the right treatments, focused on the source instead of just some quick fix farmaceutical pill that's made to temporarily suppressing the symptoms... And our pets and animals in general would get the treatment they actually need instead of being misdiagnosed and often put to sleep, because most veterinarians have absolutely no idea what they're doing.

I’m Nutritional Therapist that works in Mental Health area, and I’m so grateful for bringing the awareness about fundamental principals of wellbeing - nutrition, lifestyle and spirituality. Thank you!💓 However, it is VERY IMPORTANT not to demonise medications. They have their place. Sometimes, they literally, save lives. And they need to be taken first, before diet and lifestyle changes. But sometimes is the opposite… And sometimes there is no need to take them at all. Everything depends on individual needs of a patient. We, as practitioners have a huge responsibility and need to be wise and very careful of statements around mental health and other health problems. I wish you all blessings and wellbeing🙏🏻❤️

From my experience it really works excellently! It doesnt even need to be a full hit. With potent shrooms 2-3 small ones will still make a clear difference. It will be a few hour cosy rumbling moment around rest time, but afterwards its just calm and you feel amazing and gain your freedom. Psilocybin is different dudes, its the only "treatment" I would recommend to someone who genuinely wants to get better. There is no addiction, withdrawal, or negative side effects. It's just pure healing., far more effective than any anti-depressant. You can thank me later,

I have had 2 concussions/had traumas. I was hit by a Drunk Driver when I was 12 years old.
I have been doing all of these you have said for the past several years. This last concussion was so bad. I don't think this always applies to everyone. TBI is very serious and it is so hard to recover from . Very few doctors understand how hard it is to recover from it. Plus add menapause, the death of my sister this year, the anniversary of my son's death.
    It's not always that simple.
All I do is prayer and meditation.
Vegetarian, gluten free, sugar free and I don't get enough to eat. I had c-diff on and off for 10 years. It's been about 7 years since but getting my gut to absorb things again, is so hard. I lack nutrition.
I truly wish it was as simple as you put it but it is not. Specially menopausal women.
I truly wished all those things worked but they aren't.
I have watched your stuff for a long time. Sometimes life is not that simple. Watching my son pass away from cancer. 3 years of my husband having a brain tumor. I am exhausted and my brain needs a break.
I truly wish nutrition was everything. No one works harder at it than me for years. Tons and tons therapy, hypnotherapist. I have paid out a small fortune on trying to get well. My husband is a disabled veteran, we just don't have the money to spend on all these things.
Life is way more complicated for some of us out here.
But I do wish the very best and I have enjoyed your lectures. 🙏

YES! PLEASE PEOPLE! Take your mental health seriously! Take responsibility for yourself and wellbeing! I'm right now taking care of my depressed 77 yo mother who NEVER took care of her mental health. AND for some reason she becomes psychotic while taking antipsychotics. It's really no fun taking care of a depressed person. Believe me that taking care of a child is much much much joyful and easier.
    P.S.
It's sad that she is an ex-pharmacist, born in 1946, who was thought of producing proper herbal products for many illnesses, when pharmacies were much more into herbalism. And now she is only looking for a quick fix with antidepressants and antipsychotics. I literally cannot do it anymore. I'm working on finding a place in care home for her and that's it, I'll enjoy my vacation to the fullest when I find a place for her.

    • @conniepowell2013
      @conniepowell2013 9 місяців тому +6

I'm a 77 year old woman who often deals with depression. I've found music that helps and also have my own room and live in the country so can get outside which helps. I'm married but my husband doesn't understand and our marriage has never been the best anyway. Actually nobody can understand unless they have experienced it. If it were not for my grandchildren, I wouldn't want to live. You cannot fix another person, they have to find their own way out. I do watch a lot of UA-cam videos, some on self-help, some music, some movies. I like being alone and having peace and quiet. I deal with past trauma and guilt, and there are lots of YT videos that help me deal with that. As far as a home for your mother, a good assisted living home might be nice, but not a nursing home. Please try to understand, she doesn't want to be in that dark place. But you cannot fix her. You can let her know you love her, try to brighten her surroundings (yellow flowers does it for me) and maybe help her find some music she likes (maybe some oldies?) If she cries, let her cry. Tears are healing. My worst time was when I was so numb I couldn't cry, and it was such a relief when I found music to help me cry. It would be horrible to me if I thought I was a burden to my family and I'm sure she feels the same. But my children do understand and my husband finally understood that I don't want him to "fix" me. (Men seem to think they have to fix things, which is a real pain). I have an outside swing where I have made me a "zen" area. If you don't have any area like that, then maybe a nice assisted living place might indeed be a better option for you. And by all means, take care of your own needs and health. One more thing that has helped me has been some supplements like GABA and Ashwagandha and also herb teas for calming effects. But I don't take any medications and I did my research, so have to be careful of side effects that might clash with prescription drugs.

@Ladida386 I'm so sorry. It has to be extremely tough for you. I don't know where you live but is there any home health available there? Of course, i know that can be expensive unless there is something that maybe Medicare would cover. Perhaps there are resources available and would be worth researching. But you still need to protect your own health and sanity, so don't feel guilty if you must place her in a senior health facility. Personally, I would rather die than to be such a burden to any of my family members. My mom died at age 90, but thankfully she did not reach the same stage as your mom. But she did need constant care. Fortunately, my sister has no children and a nice home. She did have have a job, so she had home health provide some assistance. My other sister and I would stay with her sometimes when we could. My dad passed away earlier and he did become more angry and we understood his mental state and knew he didn't mean it. He and mother were still living in their own home at that time. It is a hard situation that many are facing right now. God bless you for the sacrifices you have already made, and I pray you will find the help you need soon.

@ClaudiaM-js6ol yeah, good luck finding people and facilities so fast.
She should have her usual check up with her personal psychiatrist in August, he was absent for quite some time. She had an appointment in mid November, in the mean time insomnia was in full power, we had to visit psychiatric ER where they gave her antidepressant which helped almost immediately. But then her psychiatrist gave her antipsychotics which made her psychotic. He didn't want to hear a word about that antipsychotic is not working the way it should. We were waiting for her personal doctor for more than a month due to prolonged sick leave, her replacement didn't want to do nothing but to talk a little bit, a little bit of blood test, which she didn't want to comment, because she was waiting for the regular doctor to come back to work. I got papers from her doctor for the care home last Friday. Her psychiatrist is only taking phone calls when he is just trying with new dosages and different antipsychotics. Thank God we have an appointment with him on Tuesday. And thank God mom started to see that he has no idea what he is actually doing. In the meantime I'm dealing with my mom's issue. I called every single institution that would be helpful to get me a trained person, NOT WITHOUT THE PAPER I WAS WAITING FROM HER DOCTOR!

In childhood, the mind archives the bad moments that human being experiment
and when something happens that is similar to what was experienced the mind remembers it, emitting feelings of anger, fear, anguish or depression. It is important that every time something unpleasant happens and we feel bad about it, we realize that we are feeling ECHOES OF THE PAST, so that we don't go through life feeling bad about insignificant things. There are several ways to get rid of those constant warnings from the mind.
When you feel anger, fear, anxiety or depression, accept to feel it until it fades. It is to cleanse ourselves of the unpleasant sensations experienced in childhood.
Also practice to inhale, exhale deeply, count to eight and breathe again. repeat it several times and the unpleasant sensations begin to disappear.

Try the breathing!!!!! Sounds silly but it really does help. Not normal breaths tho. You have to do deep belly breathing. So when u breath in, fill your belly area up and expand it out as far as u can for those four seconds, then hold it for a few, then when ur blowing that air out for the 8 seconds, pull your belly back in. There's short videos to teach u these techniques. I was diagnosed with panic disorder among other issues and struggle with tachycardia episodes. And this is one of the biggest tricks to help calm my nervous system back down to get into parasympathetic. I notice with anxiety ppl tend to have an over-active sympathetic (fight or flight) response and an under-active parasympathetic (rest and digest) response. It's usually a result of what he listed in the beginning tho, some type of imbalance of something.

What does one do when their anxiety symptoms are more physical and I feel like I’m constantly on a boat and off balance. As if I’m going to fall when I walk.

Find someone who will give you something medication to help your anxiety. Or before you do that prior you may want Ketamine nasal spray.

I have to disagree I've been on medication for 30 something years for anxiety and if I hadn't been I wouldn't be here. Everyone's different he may be talking about anxiety in general however not someone with an anxiety disorder that cannot function.
