How The Mongols Actually Conquered The World

- Throughout the 13th century, the group of nomadic tribes known as the Mongols unified under a single ruler and proceeded to carve out the largest empire the world had ever seen. From the Danube River in Europe to all the way across Asia up to the Pacific Ocean, the highly mobile warriors overcame empires, kingdoms, and states they encountered until they eventually ruled over an enormous number of people.

I want a collab between the weird history and nutty history channels where they each try and one up each other with facts and jokes 😂
They’re not both done by the same guy? They sound so similar
Sooooo... I had to check the voice first 😅
Exactly the same
They do the same dumb crap over at Weird History Food. 💀 Just keep the same damned narrator.
For sure. If it's not this guy I'm clicking off. 😂
@@Judah98 I have a feeling they’re going to swap back and forth but that’s all we can do is just dislike comment and click off, doubt they’ll get rid of him
@@fransv912a sigh of relief for sure
PLEASE Bring Back Timeline!
That shit was kinda ass
Yeahhhhh!!!!
I love the mongals for their love of horses and archery. As im a fan of both myself lol.
My boyfriend is from uzbekistan and he tells about this history all the time. It's very interesting 💜
I learn more from this UA-cam page then I did in school
I love this guy's voice.. sounds like my history teacher
He is your Teacher of Weird History!
You're lucky.
My English teacher was a Dolores Umbridge. Long before Dolores Umbridge was invented.
@@bohemianwriter1 hahaha bahahaha that's fracking hilarious 🤣
They were a brutal bunch of people
It’s ok everyone it’s the narrator 😮💨
A+ video!
LOVE IT! The best video about the Mongol strategy and tactics I have ever seen!
2:52 Speaking of silk, there was a strong trend in our area during the 90s where public school students would wear silk shirts often, especially for dances.
My grandfather from my mother's side was from the Mongolia/Russian Siberia region
Liar
@@mattwilliam5522 Why would I lie about that, 🤡? You sound like a bitter person. Sad.
Many thanks for sharing.
2:22 One of my friends sent me a link to the Cliffton Strengths Finder, that was extremely helpful!
I have never thought about many of those categories before!
The gold plate on their head is just a metaphor for the potential bandits being so scared of Mongol retaliation that even if the traders walked the trail while flaunting all the wealth they owned , the bandits wouldn’t dare attack.
7:22 - 7:24 Sean Connery is such a great actor, such a great James Bond!
""A medium dry vodka martini, lemon peel. Shaken, not stirred." - Dr No (presented to James Bond in the first film) (wikipedia)
I counted at least two startrek references in the titles.
Genghis Khan was mentioned directly in Star Trek Discovery. Apparently he ruled the same way in the Mirror Universe
Can you talk about John Brown and his raid on Harpers Ferry? Currently learning in my college history course and I thought you would like to cover some facts or unknown facts about John Brown, his companions, or the raid itself.
Check out Extra History. They recently (? I saw it recently) did a series on JB. V interesting!
“Wait for it…the Mongols.” -John Green, Crash Course
Yay! Tom's back!!
Can you do a video on how Afghanistan fought the British in 3 wars in the 1800-1900s and won . Everyone knows about the Soviet and United States invasion but the fact that the United States didn’t even have an ambassador In Afghanistan until after ww2 just shows that we don’t remember a lot about Afghanistan in the late 19th and early 20th century .
Yes would love that! Also check out the book: Games Without Rules by Tamim Ansary
1:09 I assisted with the construction of the local village playground, which looks rather similar to that.
I also helped put on the tiny roof that is identical to the one in the image too.
There's a beautiful Mongol series by Schwerpunkt that I would never miss
0:44 It's easy to see how serious the villian "Shiwan Khan, the last descendant of Genghis Khan" (wikipedia) was about finishing what his ancestor Genghis started in the film The Shadow (1994) after seeing this Weird History video!
It would be really cool to experience those trade routes!
2:21 My mother won the Spelling Bee one year when she was in elementary school, she was proud it was added in the local paper.
Your spelling is accurate also. I am sure she is proud.👍🏼🎖
@@thegreencat9947 Thanks!
@@btetschner you bet.
Thanks for this! 🌴
IDK if this is a wellknow fact-
but the Mongels were terrified of thunderstorms, and hid in their tents likely praying and shitting themselves. Imagine how different history would be if some enemy folks were trotting by on their horseys, and saw that. Either the Mongels would have to get over it really fast, or history would be very different.
8:35 What savage and dark war tactics!
You know, you don't have to show a picture of a truck stop when you mentioned the phrase "truck stop"...
Hooray! Love this narrator 🎉
Hooray acutely come from a Mongolian word
@@gadaadyn8190haha nice! ☺️
Absolute badasses
1:50 Reminds me of the book Steppenwolf by Herman Hess.
The title is a reference to "wolf of the Steppes."
My guy is back🎉
I wonder if this commentator knows how popular he is😂
I was about to unsub if he'd stayed away.
This is a third video I've watched that I've liked 👍 as number 445.
TIMELINE please!!
Where's the beef, Genghis?
11:10 "November Rain" by Guns 'N Roses is an awesome music video!
Guns 'N Roses are one of my favorite bands.
Theyre the exception.
I need a Crash Course on it 😂
Mangudai needing a nerf since 13th century, enough said.
2:52 They should just recreated trade routes like that, would be a traditional trade experience!
Can you do a video about beauty standard and diets to fit onto models in the past?
If they recorded his battles like they did for Napolean it would make for a better movie
The simple answer is the “settled” civilizations of the time was not doing well with exceptions like India and Egypt.
Never underestimate nomads. The persians underestimated Arabs, Europeans underestimated Huns and Magyars, the whole world underestimated Mongols
This is a nice thing to know about
Important for history
I bet they were a force that other countries never even considered and were unprepared against
When you hear about these conquers does anyone else hear ACDC's Big Balls playing in their heads?

I decided before I clicked, that if it’s not the normal narrator I would click away!!
4:34 That’s a portrait of Tibetan ruler Songtsen Gampo with the princess of Tang China
Isn’t Genghis supposed to be pronounced like Jenghis or Chingis?
I've heard chinggus most often
Yep.
Chungus
Chinggis Khan. Mongolians get upset when you mispronounced it
Tamegin
Thanks god
Seriously, I'm over all you people bashing the other narrator. It's hateful & it's tiring. I appreciate this channel no matter who's narrating. If you like one more than the other because you can't be an adult about it, fine. Tune out when he's narrating. But I'm not going to come on here and rip on him & make him feel like he's a POS.
DAMN. 🤦♀️
Oh, you're in trouble, dum dum!
You bettter run run
From Atilla the Hun Hun.
See you later, dum dum.

Excellent breakdown video

Pretty sure the British Empire controlled three quaters of the World's land mass at it's peak, so about the Mongols having the largest Empire ever, it just doesn't logically work.
Lets be honest, most of the land mass they didnt even step into but just draw line on their maps.
One quarter, not three. Still impressive though.
The distinguishing factor is “contiguous” empire, i.e. continuously connected via borders.
@@guy8646 Semantics, they were bigger.
Resubscribed
most of that land empire was - and still is - unpopulated
China would disagree its “unpopulated”
Please do goryeo too
"When did the Mongols rule China?" - Ted
"I don't know, I just work here." - Circle K clerk
I'm not supposed to be here.
Human napalm...that's brutal 😵
In the 1950s John Wayne made a movie about Genghis Khan. The film was shot downwind of a Nuclear testing site and they even used radioactive sand for studio shots. As a result nearly half the cast got cancer.
If you never build a road or any buildings and never issue coinage, I don't think that's an empire.
Crazy how nobody's ever asked, or cares
Crazy how you’ve never created an empire
It's not an empire. It's the worlds largest extortion racket.
great video as always !
please make video about Islam kingdoms or Muhammad. He is not just prophet but a founder of world-shaking kingdom that brought Persia and Constantinople to their demise
When it was all over the Mongols wiped out over 40 million people.
5:08 considering how many Mongols carried the Kahn's blood, a meritocracy was the only fair way to run his society.
Can you do the Holy Roman Empire?
❤ peace
Yes we Khan!
There’s a guy in my town named Tuong Lu Kim who really doesn’t like Mongolians

Did they do the timeline of worst year?
Those sturdy ponys.
6:21 Reminds me of the campaign "Barack The Vote."
Barack Obama's campaign was groundshaking.
DONT EVER LEAVE US AGAIN
Why do I feel like I have seen this video before? 😂 Maybe dejavu.
Said like Jen-ghis?
Of course he was an evil(if there is such) genius. Ive noticed place and time are what u make them. Right place, right time could be considered the wrong place, wrong time if u think it is. Some people are just able to manipulate any evironment by making weaknesses strengths and making an enemies strengths their weakness
The Mongol conquests of the 13th century resulted in widespread and well-documented destruction. The Mongol army conquered hundreds of cities and villages and killed starved millions of people. One estimate is that about 10 percent of the world's population was killed either during or immediately after the Mongol invasions, around 37.75-60 million people in Eurasia. These events are regarded as some of the deadliest acts of mass killing in human history.
But gotta admire their tactics right!? Lmao🙄
This is just a brief point to the brutality....but YAY ..they sound awesome
Evolution of the school diet for next video?
I’m soooooo happy the Voice is back! That other one had nothing on you, and was irritating as f##k!

How did the upper class become the upper class.... In any empire or civilization... Like how did that start?
Its Chinggis Khan
Khan!!!!!!!
……so they kinda like a teamster union during the mafia days?
Genghis Khan- any relation to Kubla Khan ? Or Madeline Kahn ? Or James Caan ? The Cannes Film Festival or the French city ? Or nefarious "artists" named Con ?
Yes indeed, one tends to wonder....
Sorry.
🚬😎👍
Or Khan Noonien Singh?😅
Timor the Grand Sham was Tartarian.
Writing "Khan" is wrong. It means province in old Mongolian. "Khaan" is correct and means a king. Also "Chinggis Khaan" is the correct title.
Time to deal with the Napoleonic Empire, isn't it?
Plus how are you going to do weird history with a "normal" voice.
Does anyone know our narrators name?
A literal 10 second google search says his name is Tom Blank.
It's sir dudeson
