Great video. As a Mongolian, I appreciate the detailed content and the variety of coverage. Mongolia is also becoming a favorite tourist destination too, since the nature is pristine and beautiful and you can experience the historic nomadic culture that's still preserved to this day. Absolutely recommend putting it on your bucket list.
What I always find interesting about Mongolia-Russia relationship is that russians used to be mongolian tributaries and subjects centuries ago. And now mongolians write in Cyrillic alphabet. Makes me think about how strange history unfolds.
That's actually historical chinese policy(at least stereotypical) - everyone who invades them eventually ends up becoming chinese. Conqueror paradox of sorts. UK had been in similar relationship with USA for some time(even if they won't admit it) and maybe India will also become UK's "bigger brother" in upcoming decades... just maybe... not until the end of 21st century probably though.
Well you also have to remember while the mongols were conquerors, they were a tribal people. Tribal peoples being less culturally influential as they don't hold on to vast amounts of territory for very long. Also many Mongols act more like foreigners than other Asians would because of there extensive tribal/nomadic past. These types of people being more easily influenced. While their culture would never be erased it will definitely be more like the peoples they conquered.
@@TheArklyte come to think of it, it's almost a typical thing. Western Roman Empire eventually became more German then Roman and in the East is became Greek.
@F0RG1V3N Kublai didn't "become" Chinese, just he claimed he was "Chinese", in Chinese language, "Chinese" means "the people who live in Central Kingdom". But his offspring, some became Chinese finally, some went back to Outer Mongolia finally.

Excellent overview on Mongolia. It is worth noting that much of Mongolia, especially parts of the Gobi have turned out to be a loaded with dinosaur fossils, including nests containing fossilized dinosaur eggs. Also, the tomb of Genghis Khan has never been found and is believed to be in Mongolia and to contain almost unimaginable wealth in gold, etc., etc. Satellite imagery has been in attempts to locate the tomb.
0:45 I think it is important to mention that “eternal blue sky” is a translation I often see of “Tengri” who is a (sort of) monotheistic god figure in tengrism, the historical religion of Turko-Mongolic peoples. Tengri is often thought of and referred to as “the eternal blue sky” (at least from translations I have read) so it might be better to think of the meaning of Mongolia to be “the land of tengri/god” rather than “the land of the eternal blue sky” Anyone who actually speaks Mongolian please inform me if am not understanding something though.
Yeah, both ways of saying Mongolia, "the eternal blue sky" and "the land of tengri," are totally on point and have a lot of cultural and historical meaning.
In 1936 Soviet and Mongolians armies defeated Japanese invaders in Khalhin Gol. Mongolia also supplied Soviet army with tons of supplies including half a million trained horses during Great Patriotic War (ww2). They also kept there army in high alert thus keeping an eye on Japanese so Soviets could focus on German front. Privet from Moscow
Mongolia expected to receive back Inner Mongolia for this participation in the war, but Stalin, to support communists in seizing a power in China. did a very serious mistake and gave Manchuria and Inner Mongolia to the hands of China.

Sometimes you'll just see them around the street. That's just talking about Europeans though, Chinese people are quite common, you'll see some other asians around as well, if you go to Taxila you might see buddhists there since there are a few monasteries there (Jaulian and Mohra Muradu), there's also the Dharmarajika stupa. Most of the foreigners are usually either German, British or Chinese. I'd say there are definitely more foreigners in Islamabad than Karachi or Lahore though.
CrusadingChristian was about to make the same comment. Mongolia is one of only 3 landlocked nations (along with Bolivia and Switzerland) that has a navy. Glad other folks know this!
@Glorious Turk Yeah... except that Finns don't have Mongolian DNA (in any meaningful proportions). Siberian, yes, a little -- from a long time ago -- which is not surprising because you have ethnic groups speaking Finno-Ugric languages in parts of Siberia. This whole Finland/Mongolia thing has its origins in the wild and long since discredited theory of a 19th century linguist that Finnish and Mongolian would be distantly related languages. But they are not. End of story.
The old Windows wallpaper reference is actually pretty accurate. I basically took that photo while in Mongolia... except there was a herd of horses in it. Mongolia is an amazing place! It's easily my favourite thatI've been to. ❤️

Summary of the Article: In this article, seventeen reasons, evidence and proofs from historical sources have been presented and it has been proved that this is proven according to various narrations of "Haceh Reşidüddin Fazlullah", who was the chief vizier of the Mongolian provinces. The mostly documented "Jame al-Tawarikh" and the secret archives of the Mongolian government were compiled: "The Mongols were a people of the Atrak tribes" and, according to the Chinese ambassadors who met with him, Genghis Khan himself. "Chateau Turks" and "qıy" tribe qıy), Plural: Qiyat), was from the "Dukquz Qara Tatar" ("Black Kara Tatar") Turkish tribal union, one of the nine members of the union called "Soldoz". "He lived in a region of the same name in West Azerbaijan, and his mother was a Merkite Turk. For this reason, according to the sources and the narration of "Abolgazi Bahador Khan", who is one of the khans and descendants of Genghis Khan, in his book "Takhmeh genealogy", Genghis Khan is accepted as an "Uzbek Turk" according to today's standards. Keywords: Mongolian, Turk, Genghis Khan. Genghis Khan is the founder of the largest human empire in the world, stretching from east to west from Korea to Poland, from north to south from Siberia to Vietnam and Pakistan. There is a lot of debate about whether Genghis Khan's behavior and actions were good and bad, good and bad, some call him "bloody Genghis" (1), some call him "divine mercy" (2) and some call him. a "secret of divine secrets" (3). Others call it "God's useless wind" (4) storm. Now, whether Genghis Khan is "bloody" or "Kaan al-Adil" engraved on the coins of his empire, there is a certain historical truth about him, and that is Islam will not be opposed to converting his family to Islam. any serious obstacle. It was taken by the Genghis Khan dynasty, now known as Gazi (Jihadists), to the city of Kazan in Tatarstan, near Moscow, and the most remote parts of Kazakhstan, Siberia, and Eastern Europe, and vast areas annexed to the main body. your lands. In the hearts of the envoys of the Pope, who tried every means to Christianize the Mongolian shamans and started a new crusade to destroy the Islamic countries with their great power, they converted to Islam and longed for their conversion to Christianity, but they did not succeed! However, the good and bad thoughts and actions of Genghis Khan are not the subject of this article, this article seeks answers only as an article that is a historical subject. The main reasons historians say Genghis Khan was a Turk, which will be discussed after their listing, are: 1- Genghis Khan did not have a "Mongolian brigade" for face recognition! 2- Genghis Khan's name is a Turkish name! 3- Genghis Khan is famous for his Turkish fame! 4- Genghis Khan thought he was Turkish! 5. Historians of Genghis Khan's time considered him abandoned! 6- Genghis Khan did not know any language other than "Mongolian Turkish"! 7- Genghis Khan's mother was Turkish! 8- Genghis Khan writes poetry in Turkish! 9- Genghis Khan is printing money in Turkish! 10- Genghis Khan wrote a letter in Turkish! 11- Genghis Khan's enemies knew he was gone! 12- Genghis Khan was from the Bozgurd (gray wolf) dynasty, that is, from the Hakan dynasty, "Gok Turk" (Sky Turks)! 13- Genghis Khan was from the second generation Bozgurd of the Turks' Dukuquz Tatar clan (nine Tatars). 14- Genghis Khan was Turkish! 15- The word Mongolian is a Turkish word! 16- Turkish names were abundantly registered in Genghis Khan's family! 17- Today's Mongols are not Mongols, but they think they are Mongols because they are proud of Genghis Khan.
Any way The answer is that the present Mongols do not belong to the Genghis dynasty and are mostly non-Mongols, that is, non-Turks, and many have long called themselves Mongols because of their "boast" and boasting. , for misusing the name of the Mongols. Khawaja Rashid al-Din Fadlallah, in his book "Historical Society" since he is a contemporary of the same Mongols, repeatedly refers to the abuse of the Mongolian name by "non-Mongols" and even claims that some tribes call it unjustly. "Babur" is older than the Mongolian name "objection", meaning they felt "shame and shame" (54), but abusing their position from the Genghis Khan government, they considered themselves Mongols. Khaja Rashid al-Din writes: “At this time, due to the government of Jankikiz Khan (Genghis Khan) and Urug (family), other Turkic tribes such as Glaire, Tatars, Averat, Onkut, Kiryat, Neman, Tangut, etc. , each their own. a specific name. It was a special title. They proudly call themselves Mughal although they have rejected this name in the past, and the [interesting] children are now out there and have long thought they attributed the Mongolian name, which it isn't. ”, In ancient times, a people from a group of nomadic Turkic tribes. Khaja Rashid al-Din explicitly mentions the misuse of the Mongolian name in other pages of his book, and writes in the second part of his book: The Turkic tribes were an ethnic group and this time their government was given to other tribes with their size and glory. a special name for this sentence. (56) Khaja Rashid al-Din, the vizier of Uljat and Ghazan Khan, once again misuses the names of other tribes of the Mughals in a separate chapter, writing: “There are also tribes from the Bedouin community that have recently become known as Mughals. ”(57) Despite all the successive and important promises made by the patriarchal minister regarding the abuse of the name of other tribes by the Mongols, most of the Genghis Khan dynasty left Mongolia and the world. Later, instead of "tribes" "like the Mongols" (similar), but "in the old days they were ashamed of this name", but preferred to call themselves "Mongols" at appropriate times. and the lands they occupy are "Mongolia." The main capital of the Turks, where historical inscriptions such as the "Kuok Turks" of the Turkish tribes were removed, and with all patience and pride, is known as "Utkin" in the same lands. However, the Khalkha, Han, Manchu, Hui and Dor tribes live in the country, which is now known as "Mongolia". However, "Inner Mongolia" still houses only 17% of its population of 24 million. These are called Mongols and the rest are "non-Mongolian" tribes It is natural that the Turks also have large and diverse communities in Western Mongolia. That is, even the "fake Mughal" makes up no more than 17% of the Mongolian population, and the remaining 83% are not Mongols or Turks.

Faith tbh I have not seen so many Asian people in my life, but from what I have seen I can say that Mongolian people are more dark-skinned and look more like Central Asian folks ( for instance Uzbek people), when Chinese people have a lighter skin and tend to have more narrow facial features. What I always find interesting about Mongolia-Russia relationship is that russians used to be mongolian tributaries and subjects centuries ago. And now mongolians write in Cyrillic alphabet. Makes me think about how strange history unfolds.
How tables have turned, also biggest irony is that without Russia/USSR Mongolia would have definitely been part of China.
Fun fact :
The Mughal dynasty of India got its name from Mongol. Babur who established the Mughal dynasty was the grandchild of Timur who was the grandchild of Genghis Khan
You are so right! Technically meaning the Great Taj Mahal was built by a Chinggis Khaan's descendant Shah Jahan.
@samyajyoti de but you see he's descended from him. So it counts as both
One difference mongols were animist and buddhist and were pure mongol. But mughals were mixed with turks and afghans and were converted to muslim.

0:45 I think it is important to mention that “eternal blue sky” is a translation I often see of “Tengri” who is a (sort of) monotheistic god figure in tengrism, the historical religion of Turko-Mongolic peoples. Tengri is often thought of and referred to as “the eternal blue sky” (at least from translations I have read) so it might be better to think of the meaning of Mongolia to be “the land of tengri/god” rather than “the land of the eternal blue sky”
Anyone who actually speaks Mongolian please inform me if am not understanding something though.

Sometimes you'll just see them around the street.
The main reasons historians say Genghis Khan was a Turk, which will be discussed after their listing, are:
1- Genghis Khan did not have a "Mongolian brigade" for face recognition!
Khaja Rashid al-Din, the vizier of Uljat and Ghazan Khan, once again misuses the names of other tribes of the Mughals in a separate chapter, writing: “There are also tribes from the Bedouin community that have recently become known as Mughals. ”(57)
Despite all the successive and important promises made by the patriarchal minister regarding the abuse of the name of other tribes by the Mongols, most of the Genghis Khan dynasty left Mongolia and the world.

Thank you so much for making this video! It's so informative and interesting. You guys did a great job introducing Mongolia. I'm Mongolian and your knowledge about the country is exceptional.
Gotta love Mongolia ><
Also, Ken's my favourite co-host.
I mean, do you live here in Mongolia or something? It was really good!!! Even about the new airport. Good job team! This was the most accurate video about 🇲🇳that i have ever seen on UA-cam.
Important: Ken was not fired! For now...
Uh... "important" and "Ken" don't really work together in the same sentence
@@Toastmaster_5000 Ahahah.. C'mon Ken is important! He does the animation! At least, until he is fired! And now: Ken back to his dark room!
My uncle is the architect of the new airport :)
Tell him to build some housing around it.
That's cool
Why is there nothing around the airport?
@@zhaolute. I don't know.

Mongolia seems so awesome. For some reason I've always wanted to go there. And after watching this video I want to go there even more! The vast open space landscapes, the scarcity of people (and crowds), the abundance of wildlife (especially horses) and the rich history and culture of the people all sound so inviting! One day..
Anna Lisa Marten all good but it is not for the faint hearted. Think of Bear Grylls for real and only source of food outside the 3 main cities is boiled Fatty Mutton, Fatty Mutton soup and Fatty Mutton with Noodles and salted tea, fermented horse milk and dry cheese curds. No toilets or shower only nature. Temp can go from +30 daytime to -5 at night in mid summer and snow is common during June. If you can handle the extremes you will love it :)
Tuguldur Baatar 30 degrees doesn’t seem very warm
Im a mongolia person
You might regret going there
Over Load first of all love the name
Second, why wouldn’t someone want to go to Mongolia?
9:41 They didn’t “adopt” it, they were forced to learn the Acrylic alphabet back when the USSR still existed. Minor nitpick, the rest of this video was very educational!
