    Needed to replace my charging port and figured while I was in there I'd put a new battery in as well. Both of your videos were awesome in helping me to do both! New parts and tools to do the job were about $25.00. Thank you so much for these well done videos! 👍

    Your video is WAaaaaY better than the other videos I saw for the same procedure. One video was saying you needed to take off the motherboard! I'm REALLY thankful I found your video before following that one! THANKS - excellent job!

    So I got my new charger port coming this week or next. Thank you for making such a concise video. There's another one out there that tells you to take the battery out and then for the reassembly it has extra steps having to do with the screen.... Very nice work and I have marked this for when my part arrives.

    Followed your procedure and it worked well. I didn't bother removing the screen cables just held the screen up with a sucker and helping hand. To keep track of screws I drew a diagram on paper and poked holes through with a needle where the scews went and pushed the screws through the holes. Worth buying quality screwdrivers for this as the cheap ones started stripping threads. Also a headband magnifier is very usefull. Great video thanks. I will go back and watch an advert / click on it as thanks.

      +Antonio Cuevas it sounds like maybe a bad part. I would try to return or exchange it for a different one.

    Awesome video u saved my life 🤣 but how do you keep track of the screws 😳? Is there a magnetic diagram I can purchase from somewhere ?

    • @SmartEasyDIYer
      @SmartEasyDIYer  7 років тому +1

      +Natasha j Thanks! Well I don't know about something magnetic. I would try to use the big sheet of white paper or something where you can see them easily and set them out in the right order so you know how they go back again. Especially don't do it over an area that has carpet on the floor in case you drop one. 😮

      I use a sheet of bubble wrap. The screws sit between bubbles and don't roll away!

    Some comments I have:
    1. the scanditech set of screwdriver bits and other things (linked in the description) had the correct Philips bits but were labeled incorrectly. For example, the Philips 000 was actually labeled 1.0. Everything turned out fine after some initial confusion. I bought these November 2018 and Scanditech realizes that it was mislabeled so maybe by the time you buy these, they may have corrected the problem.
    2. When opening the initial first screws on the outside, I used a pentalobe 0.8 and not a torx. The smallest torx in the set (a 3) was too big.
    3. the gold antenna wire for mine had adhesive but I was still able to get it off
    4. when he is removing the connectors at 4:30 that part was way trickier with the set of tweezers I had (not as thin). I ended up putting the 1.0 slot/flat screw bit in the screw driver and that helped to remove the thin plastic from the adhesive below.
    5. the upper left metal plat where the screw goes in on the loud speaker fell off at some point (I don't know how, i didn't notice even really touching it). I tried to put the screw back on over the loose plate but it didn't really go in well. I put the rest of my phone back together as in the video, but the sound is messed up and has some static and fades in and out. Hopefully I didn't permanently ruin the phone but this was more a project than anything else. If anyone else had this same sound issue, please, please help me and let me know if that metal plate broke off on yours too so I can try to troubleshoot.
    6. I dropped the screws 3x total on the carpet. I was able to find them all fortunately within 15 minutes. They are nearly impossible to find. Please, please be careful (magnetized bits and tweezers helped a ton and probably prevented me from dropping them more).
    7. Initially, my phone basically just stopped being able to charge and after replacing the charging port following this video, my phone is at least charging again and has turned on. Now to fix the sound...
    ***UPDATE*** I was annoyed that it didn't work so I went back in. I basically did everything in the video through taking off the flex cord (the "connectors" at 4:30). I reconnected that and also wiped off the silver screen on the back of the front of the phone because it was a little dirty (I used the felt wipe thing from the scanditech set) and the water from my breath. I don't know if this is what fixed my problems (didn't mention it before but it 1) charged only if my phone as laid a certain way and 2) sound problems). After putting everything back together, my problems were FIXED! Sound is clear and does not have static and phone charges fine. So maybe try to wipe off that silver plate (whatever it is) and make sure everything is properly connected

    Hi there dude, is it essential you remove the screen? Couldn't you just leave it on and lean it against something while you repair? Cheers

    • @SmartEasyDIYer
      @SmartEasyDIYer  8 років тому

      +AlisterMultimedia if you can get it to stay then you can just lean it against something. Just don't bend it too far past a 90°.

      Better to pop it out than leave it to potential ripping. Buying a true original replacement screen is hard to find.
