Actually a little known fact about Yakuza culture is even though they do crimes, they still have a code to follow amongst each other and are very strict on not breaking them even if it's advantageous to.

Yeah, but dudes, this is old fashion Yakuza, and old Japan...that's how it workrd. They betray each other, but through a lot of politics between the murders.
To explain seppuku:
1) It began as a wartime ritual - If you were killing yourself, you were likely going to die anyway. Killing yourself let you die without being tortured, and potentially would help protect your family, fellow warrior, or subordinates from death.
2) It turned into a political tool, to end bloodlines and hand over power, and a judicial sentence.
3) Nobody who committed seppuku could really pass on "Hey, guys, this is a shitty tradition, I wouldn't do it again."

To be fair, the "Japanese traditions and culture" under fire here haven't really been practiced in Japanese culture for decades, and I'm sure most Japanese people would call it archaic. If anything, WW2 really altered the Japanese cultural perspective, and now there's more sentiment AGAINST needless death and self sacrifice.

Of course there's fucking honor. Otherwise they wouldn't go through the trouble of rigging dice and just take everything simply by force. But that usually doesn't work for long so people put restrictions on themselves and come up with codes to have some form of "stability" and a sense of humanity. It's a simply concept.
