      I left it in for about a month because it was long and i didn’t feel like wearing it anymore. As long as you take the hair out properly, you won’t damage your locs. I suggest going to a professional or someone skilled with experience to take your locs out.

    How is the take down for this? I did a test run and got two locs in and when I tried to take them down I was like “awww naw!”. But this method is great! Best video I’ve seen this far. Great job.

    • @itslexitracy
      @itslexitracy  2 роки тому +1

      I’m going to have to film a quick take down video because it’s easier to visualize. But i like to start from the top loop of the crotchet curly hair & let it unravel.
      It’s so much easier to take down once they are old lol. It’s harder to take down a FRESH loc, so that’s why it was hard for you to take down. You just installed it freshly and it was tight. As it gets older, it gets loose & then you can see where your natural hair is vs the faux loc hair a little better.
      Now… sometimes it gets harder to take down when it gets old because it can look like it’s matting. But there’s techniques and ways around it.
      If you don’t feel comfortable, i highly recommend having your stylist or someone with experience w/ faux locs to take down your faux locs. They’ll be able to see it better than you.

    how many locs do you have because I want to do this but I have 115ish locs and I don't want it to look bulky! should I combine some of them?

    • @itslexitracy
      @itslexitracy  2 роки тому

      Yes! Definitely combine them! You can always alter your look by combing the locs. I definitely combined a few of my locs because i didn’t want mines to look bulky either. The only thing with combing locs is that you don’t want the base of your locs looking bulky when you’re wrapping your hair. So just make sure that you wrap it good and you combine locs that make sense. (For example, if you have two super chunky locs and combine them.. expect your base of your faux locs to look bulky unless you wrap them in a way where your locs are flat and seamless.
      You can finesse it with the butterfly locs & the method i do in the video because of the curls and loops.

    • @itslexitracy
      @itslexitracy  Рік тому +3

      I had over 100 locs but i would double some locs and just make one faux loc over two-three locs depending on the size.
      It’s easier to do that when the locs are newer and not as dense as older locs because it will compress together easier.
      When they are thick and fully locked it’s harder to double them because it could possibly look bulky and defeat the purpose. So it really depends on what you’re trying to achieve.

    • @itslexitracy

      You avoid it from unwrapping by adding enough tension as you’re wrapping it around. If you’re wrapping it too lightly, it will leave extra space for it to move around..
      Also, if you are using hair that is wayyyy too soft, it will be easy for it to slide around.
      After I’m done wrapping, i also like to take a tiny piece of hair (string like) and wrap around the hair. That tiny strand constricts the hair from moving too.
      But it all depends on 2 things.
      1) the texture of the hair you’re using(try a coarser/curlier texture)
      2) your pressure and tension while wrapping. (Too light = slippage.. toooo tight = stiffness.. you have to find a medium in between the two)

      They are pretty and I recommend having someone take them down for you if you don’t have the patience or if it’s hard for you to do it on your own.
