Easy BUTTERFLY BOB LOCS TUTORIAL (No Crochet)

- DIY step-by-step tutorial on how I did my shoulder length butterfly locs without crochet and the easy way to remove them! Get this super neat look without having to use any special tools! FYI I have gotten damage from crochet styles in the past which is why I choose to no longer use that method because it causes extra tension on the scalp and roots. For this style I made 47 butterfly locs, used 6 packs of water wave hair and it took about 4 hours to complete.

Who else thinks this styles fits her very well. Awesome
Every style she does it fits 💪
Yes I agree
I do
Yessssss

Your hair tutorials are by far the most professional on UA-cam. You demonstrate each step clearly, the camera angles are always just right, and there are never any unnecessary shenanigans. Also, your voice over method makes for a clean and clear presentation. I've always thought this but regretfully never articulated it in detail. Thank you. ❤
🤗 AGREE
Wow so plump and lacy looks nice. I'm glad 😊
couldn’t of said it better myself
How many bags of hair did you use?
Yes she is my go to !
This hairstyle cost me $36 since I can do it myself 😩🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Thank you sis!
This is what I want to hear 🤗
You know this is the first time someone on UA-cam made me feel maybe I can actually do my own hair if I can get tutorials like this. Highly impressed 👏🏾
💯
She deflee always come thru with these protective styles or just natural hair care in general
Saaame
❤️❤️❤️
that’s just so good :
You a real one for adding a “removal” part in this video lol. Love this style 🥰
I swear she is. Just love her
For real. It was like an unexpected freebie lol
I thought the same thing because the way my hands feels when I'm done this kind of marathon, Jesus himself would have to make that request lol
DAT PART SIS!!!
@@MsMindyLuv 😂😂😂😂😂😂 this one is so good 😂😂😂😂
One thing to be able to braid like this but to teach it so well literally deserves an Oscar
Why do people click on the dislike botton though? This woman did an amazing job with this butterfly locks and with every other videos she posts,❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That's just some people for yah.
Man I hate that too. That’s because they are some haters. She was beautiful and not only did she perfectly explain how to do this but she also implied a removal of the installment 😌💪🏾 she is the goat for this
Cause they’re haters. Smh...
🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
1. It's an uncorrected mistake.
2. They genuinely didn't like the style or technique.
3. They are her hair blog rivals.
4. They are just in it for the aggravation.
She explained this so perfectly. It is so hard to find someone to explain the right way and make it easy
Exactly huh
The best tutorial that i have seen as well
Exactly
Yes she did that perfectly
I agree. I'm about to do this for my daughter
"The dislikes are from braiding shops who charge us $300 for this style!"👌👌
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lmao 🤣
Right!!!!!
Exactly!👏🏽 She did an awesome job!
😭😭😭😭 $300. This is why I make sure to always do my hair when I come back to South Africa. This is $80 at a higher priced salon
At this point, what can't you do, sis?!This style is amazing and you explained the process perfectly. I will be trying this soon. Thank you, Queen. Peace and great light.😍💪🏾
Right
Love that she included the take down (I'm always curious about that part) turned out amazing. Really pretty.

Is there any style you can’t achieve? Congratulations on hitting 2 million subscribers! And thank you for the top tier content!
I was just thinking that. She bodies every style she tries out 😍😍
Exactly Kim is literally Queenin.. an inspiration the reason I even started doing my own hair. Haven’t been to a salon in 2 years now sis is everything we need a real boss and its amazing to see. I’ve been waiting on this tutorial too!!
I was thinking the saaaame, this style is just 😍😍😍 tho
Exactly what I'm thinking! Lol
Km
Even if it was a thumbs down cause the rubber band thing just say that and still give her a thumbs up for the perfection and how well she explained and showed us dang!!! Stop that negative ish. This lady was awesome and you personally dnt even have to use the rubber bands the style and look is bomb
I successfully tried this on my 8 year old and it turned out so pretty. She is so happy. I have NEVER braided in hair on my girls. Your video made me want to try. So I went crazy and did all three of my daughters hair in different styles watching your videos. Thank you!
Is there anything that you can't do, LOL... you are so inspiring. You give me the courage to try and do anything and everything!
Yes!!
I’m gonna have to second that girl... she goood
She is so amazing!!😊💞
Totally agree! She's awesome!
I tried this out today and let me tell you... I love this. The roots looked so clean and the distressed locks gave such a great vibe although it took me a little more time it was soooo worth it Thank you so much💕
How long do i keep them jn for?
@@justabean4168 I’ve kept mine in for 6-8 weeks with good upkeep. Once your natural hair starts appearing outside of the loc I’d say you should take them out.
I want to do this but I'm scared of it drying my hair by the synthetic hair
My daughter did mine in this style and I loved it...hair looks natural and very light on your head
Whoever is reading this, let me tell you how freaking amazing you are today. And omg let's not forget about how beautiful you are on the inside and outside. Keep being the magnificent person that you came here to be.❤❤
Same to you beautiful queen! Blessings 🥰🤗😍
Thank you so much beautiful! I hope you have a great day 🤗💕
I pray that you know that about yourself as well! Thank you for such beautiful & encouraging words, I really needed to see this today! ❤️❤️❤️
WWWOOOOWWW, CAME IN ON 111 LIKES!!! THE CONFIRMATION IS RRREEEEAAALLL!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁!!!!
Thank you so much
I have so much appreciation for how perfectly geometrical each one of those hair sections are. It’s so aesthetically pleasing now uniform and perfect each little box is on her scalp. Also, first video of the channel I have watched and I just want to say she’s extremely pretty!
Awesome tutorial. I love the way you not only showed how to do the style but started off by showing how to clean the hair. Then you ended it with how to take down the hair. This was the best tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you very much!
Exactly
This style is so cute on you. Can't wait to do it on my channel. Love the fact that you prep hair before installing to prevent itching.😍
I can’t wait to reach this level of straight and even parting! 😭😭
Girl it takes me at least 10 min to get a part down the middle.
Best butterfly loc tutorial I’ve found. I used this video to do locs on myself and they came out great!
Mywifelies this
Everyone isn't a teacher but YOU ARE SIS...TY!
Absolutely a great professional look. Thanks for showing how to remove. Gorgeous and makeup is flawless.
I love that you teach people how to put them in and take them down
HAIR TIP : Guys soak the rubber bands in some oil so it doesn’t cause so much tension at the roots of your hair 🙂
Really? I'm doing it
All that tension would give me a headache and pull hair from the root.
@Just Anniee what kind of oil?
@@portiaparker1669 any kind. I use sunflower oil from the kitchen lol. Just pour a little in a bowl and put all the rubber bands that you plan to use in there.
Girlll what bands do you use because my bands break when there is oil in my hair!
You deserve your 2 million subscribers! Well done!
And I love how you've supported Whitney and Melanin Haircare. :)
Best tutorial EVER! I did my locs following this tutorial and I’m soooo pleased with how they came out! Big thanks to you for sharing how to do this! I’ve always been hesitant and turned off by doing hair but this very video got me out the door, to a hair store, and home in the mirror! Unbelievable! I’m ready to do so much more!
You must have felt it in your spirit that someone needed this. I was just thinking about trying this style so this video came right on time .
Right on time
I learnt a lot from you two years ago and today I'm also teaching people, God bless your hand work, you actually give me hand work
Man this looks like it would take me FOREVERRERRRRRRRERER
Can we get a makeup tutorial? Your makeup is BOMB!
Op 2nd. s %
It's a blessing to do all that herself. Nothing like having skills
I appreciate your videos. I live in a rural area with no options for hair care. Between the travel and cost it's not reasonable at all. With your tutorials I am able to give my entire soul love and beauty....and I look cute cute cute!
You always give us so much "Girl, you got this- TRY IT!" ❤Make-up is FLAWLESS🔥
She makes it look sooooo effortless..it took me two days 😭😜
Did it come out nice?
@@dehjhunaeday5743 ^^
I love using her tutorials... I have a 16 year old and when her braid stylists isn't available I use her videos to do my daughter's hair and it is very easy... we take our time. Takes me longer, but it looks very nice afterwards and my daughter gets compliments and asked who does her hair and I am no where near a professional. Now believe me I still pay for her to go to her stylists as well because that is easier on my hands and wrist, hahaha... so I am not taking out of the pockets of my stylists, but when I can or have too, like when our stylists was on maternity leave and when she had surgery I had too. I am glad this beautiful woman takes her time and explains clearly in these videos to help. Love them!!
I’ve been subscribed to you and watched you for years and this is the first time I’m commenting 😭😭😭I don’t even know why! Just wanted to say, I love your videos 😍🙌🏿
Thank you so much!!
Lol..same
Beautiful Kim!!! I remember when my daughter had her hair done like this. I looked at her like she was crazy. Her hair did not look neat like yours. She said mom that’s how they’re supposed to look. 😂😂
There are different kind of butterfly locs some people like it more destressed
If I still had a head full of thick hair, I'd definitely try these braids!! Thank you for such an informative video from start to finish. It was very thorough and easy to follow. Stay beautiful queen!
You can do it with short hair to !!!!
My hair is thin I’m scared to do this myself 😅
@@LotusDavis I'm studying it for my short thin hair. Lol!
Honestly no matter how you make all your styles easy to do, I always end up struggling and it not coming out looking anything like yours. I love this style.
She's so beautiful. I really love all the stuff that she does. She always explains it patiently so that we viewers can understand.
I’m trying this style today on myself!! I’ve watched tutorial after tutorial! Yours was so easy to go along with!! Really cute!!
Look at you hitting the 2 million subs👏🏽👏🏽
Highly gifted.
That was a perfect layout I like how you transitioned from each face the way that you broke it down and kept the audiences attention was epic
This is like the BEST tutorial I have ever seen. I don't do hair but my baby girl wants some butterfly locs and mama is gonna do her best to do them. Thank you!
how was it?!
I love this! Since being stuck in the house, I've taught myself to put passion twists and box braids in my head. I definitely want to try this next! I love the length especially. And you made it look so easy..lol LOVE!
Okayyyy you’re making the best of this quarantine!!
Yours was one of the truly helpful, detailed how-to hair videos I've ever watched. Thanks for including the how long and take out stages of the butterfly loc process in a single, concise treatment!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I just asked a friend today to recommend a stylist that does this look and the charge was 250 for shoulder length up to 350 for longer length. Mind you, it's for my 10 year old daughter. Plus they want you to come washed and bring whatever moisturizer you'd like to use. I love supporting people, but 250 is much for my 10yr old hair style. Again, thank you so much for this tutorial.
The G.O.A.T strikes again. I literally just paid to get this done. Gonna try this on my own. Thank you!
Great tutorial! I appreciate the detailed explanation of each step. Your butterfly locks look amazing! Thanks for sharing your process. Looking forward to your next video!
You are helping me! I'm using this tutorial to start my second set of locs! A DIY starter at home. Because the way c-19 is setup....I'm not going to a salon.
I just sent your video to my stylist to show her exactly how I want my hair. You did an amazing job. Very beautiful work 🙏🏾🥰
Finally someone trying them with this brand of hair.. they came out really cute 🥰
This is beautiful and you made it seem easy! 🙏🏽💜
Love that you're using Melanin❤️. My two fave natural UA-camrs.
Wow! Kim your hair looks so beautiful and you make the process look so effortless 💜
Bless you for cleaning that hair. I have had a sensitivity to packaged hair in the past and didn’t realize it could be cleaned.
Me either, I will clean with vinegar as well.
You always make everything look so easy and effortless lol and thank you for taking the time to show how to remove it! Saved me from getting scissor happy 😂
I can honestly say this is the best step by step tutorial and straight to the point. I love it! Such a pretty style on you. Thank you beauty! 🥰
I believe this person is very confident about her self she knows what's she's about n she loves herself ,beautifull structure n talent keep up the great job I can't wait to get this look

Okay. Takedown included 👌
Love it. I use a seam ripper for the rubberbands. Easy peasy
Just simplified that hairstyle so well. Thank you🙂
these are absolutely beautiful!! Thank you for including how long it took you to do as well as how long you kept the style in for!
You have so much patience with your hair. It always look good and perfect. Parts straight and everything.
I’m convinced you can do anything to your hair and it will look amazing!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! For the awesome and detailed tutorial. I did just what you said to so. My daughters hair came out just as you said it would. She loves it!. This was my first time trying this style. I watched so many videos. You're was the only one I could seem to understand how to do it right. Thank you again! New subscriber to your channel

Love this so much! I’ve been wanting to get this for a while! Thanks for showing us and showing us the removal.🤩
You always do such a great job Kim 👏🏾 Congrats on 2mil 🎉
Wow honestly this is the best tutorial that I have ever seen as far as the angle of the camera and how you allow us to see every step clearly. I hate seeing hair tutorials that leave you still confused on how to do the style. Thanks for sharing. Looks great...now I feel confident enough to try.
I've never had the patience or even thought that I would be able to do my own hair until i saw this video and I just had to try it. I'm proud to say I did it! You made it look so easy and gave me the inspiration to do it and I love it! Thank you!! 💙 p.s. my shoulders & fingers were on fire lol but it was worth it..😂
how long did it take you?
Great job. I always braid my hair but never did this style. I will try next time. Thank you for the video.
What I appreciate about your video is showing how to take them out. That was a bonus. Much appreciate it.💐
Absolutely beautiful! ❤️❤️ I always used a rat tail comb to pop my daughters rubber bands too, but my sister recently gave me a rubber band cutter and it’s a game changer! 10/10 recommend! ❤️❤️ again, great tutorial, you’re a natural born teacher!
Outstanding!! My 4yr old can watch this video and comprehend how to do this not only are you a great stylish!! Great teacher 👏 👍 👌
This was literally a perfect tutorial and it was under 10 min... you even showed how to do it without a rubber band and how to remove the rubber band w/o pulling out my hair. Omg thank youu! now can I actually do it? 😭
😩You’re so beautiful! I love your style mama!! Yessssss!!! I need to get in this mirror too hunny!! 🥰🥰🥰
Hi Thank You For Your Tutorial I was Able To Do my hair Very Nice Easy Explained Tutorial 🇹🇹.It Took Me 6hrs 56 Locks and Only Cost me $45 for Everything, every shop I went to said $220 + So Thank You Again 😊.
I’m gonna attempt this style this weekend🤞🏾. Very beautiful, thank you so much for this Sis!! 🥰
I was waiting for this! Headed to the hair store 😁! Great tutorial as always! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
@Lady Tanya I call it the hair store too, lol. 😂
I been doing these for a while now and I actually like your method better. I was braiding my hair in single plants first and then crocheting the hair In and then wrapping. It takes forever. Your method seems so much quicker.
Great Tutorial!! I've been a subbie for years, love your channel!
The back ones going to have my arms broken
Maybe I haven’t watched enough of these videos but I’ve watched quite a few and you are the ONLY person that washed the hair before using it. I go OFF sis!
Girl you made it look so easy to do!!! Love the style
I bet everytime she look at the camera she say to herself. IM FINE AS HELLLL.
Lol definitely
🤣🤣 right!!
Wow blk woman can’t even be on UA-cam without being sexually harassed.
@@gafam7251, Wait what's wrong ?,
Everyone should say that in front of the mirror... because that’s true, no matter what « they » say, love yourself.
I'm not an expert at cornrows but agreed to install these for my daughter for a beach trip. It was so easy once I got the hang of the crochet hook (sort of).For the second step it was easier for me to just use my fingers to pull the hair back through the loop and tighten. Her hair is straight, so we used mini hair claw clips to keep the twists from unwinding. They disappeared into the style and she was very pleased. Thanks so much!
Fantastic job imma try this too! Thanks sis x🙏🏾💁🏾♀️❤love it! 🎉👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Ive been waiting on this video!! I love your hair!!
😊 thank you
You are a gem to humanity, I ordered the hair and will do this on my daughter's hair🥰 wish me luck.💫
So nice to see you supporting Whitney with the MelaninHair Care product! Hair is bomb as always! 2 million?!? You go gurl (in my Martin Voice)
Perfect tutorial! You got to the point but also included all necessary details. Thanks you. Also, you are gorgeous, sis!
Glad it was helpful!
Love it! My first time doing this style in my daughter’s head and it looks GREAT! She has the 47 locks as well! Thanks Again for sharing your talent!
Your hair looks so beautiful, I can't wait to try this style. I've done the Marley twists before and box braids a couple of times. With that said, I'm up for the challenge; thank you so much for sharing how to do this style with us ladies. More power to you.😍😍👍🏽👊🏾
