Easy BUTTERFLY BOB LOCS TUTORIAL (No Crochet)

- DIY step-by-step tutorial on how I did my shoulder length butterfly locs without crochet and the easy way to remove them! Get this super neat look without having to use any special tools! FYI I have gotten damage from crochet styles in the past which is why I choose to no longer use that method because it causes extra tension on the scalp and roots. For this style I made 47 butterfly locs, used 6 packs of water wave hair and it took about 4 hours to complete.

The fact that I was about to pay $230 for a hairstyle I can do on myself in 4 HOURS!!! Thank u so much 💓
Perioddd
$230 😳 damnnnnnnnn where you at lol?
It’s been one month later and I just now recovered from seeing $230 for passion twist bob. Lawd have mercy that price nearly killed me.
That's Jamaican dollars right?
That'll cost anywhere around $210...here in Trinidad money. In US dollars that will be like $30. Our exchange rate is $1.00 - $7.00 US
No sis, that’s in USD
I did this!! My first time doing any braided style. It took me 3 days and several glasses of wine but the end result was worth it...So many compliments...And I am stoked about the money I saved. Thank you soooo much!!❤️
Lool. Poor ting!
Lol
I did my hair in two strand twists last year and it took me two days. I will avoid going to the braid shop when I can do styles myself, as well as my daughter's hair to.
Lol several glasses of wine. I felt that 😭😭😭
Lol damn. Well at least you got it huh
This hairstyle cost me $36 since I can do it myself 😩🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Thank you sis!
This is what I want to hear 🤗
One thing to be able to braid like this but to teach it so well literally deserves an Oscar
Who else thinks this styles fits her very well. Awesome
Every style she does it fits 💪
Yes I agree
I do
Yessssss
Lol l all 0 my
You know this is the first time someone on UA-cam made me feel maybe I can actually do my own hair if I can get tutorials like this. Highly impressed 👏🏾
💯
She deflee always come thru with these protective styles or just natural hair care in general
Saaame
❤️❤️❤️
that’s just so good :
As a Hairstylist who is growing in my craft, you have been one of the few people I’ve been following for a no. of years. I love your craft , I have been learning✍️ so much from you. Thank you for being you. We love you🫶🏽♥️
"The dislikes are from braiding shops who charge us $300 for this style!"👌👌
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lmao 🤣
Right!!!!!
Exactly!👏🏽 She did an awesome job!
😭😭😭😭 $300. This is why I make sure to always do my hair when I come back to South Africa. This is $80 at a higher priced salon
Your hair tutorials are by far the most professional on UA-cam. You demonstrate each step clearly, the camera angles are always just right, and there are never any unnecessary shenanigans. Also, your voice over method makes for a clean and clear presentation. I've always thought this but regretfully never articulated it in detail. Thank you. ❤
🤗 AGREE
Wow so plump and lacy looks nice. I'm glad 😊
couldn’t of said it better myself
How many bags of hair did you use?
Yes she is my go to !
I don’t know what I’m more jealous of 🥺 the fact that your scalp looks so healthy, or that you can part your hair yourself so neatly 😍
Right
Gurl what you're scalp look like? Her scalp looked normal to me...
Right
@@idk-jp7iu not u shaming the girls scalp
I can tell she's been doing her own hair for a long time. The effortless combing and parting is deeply familiar to me.
Chicago baby, Roseland!!
It used to be so many hair salons it wasn't even funny..
I Love our hair. Intriguing yet beautiful😊😊👏😙🙏💃
I tried this out today and let me tell you... I love this. The roots looked so clean and the distressed locks gave such a great vibe although it took me a little more time it was soooo worth it Thank you so much💕
How long do i keep them jn for?
@@justabean4168 I’ve kept mine in for 6-8 weeks with good upkeep. Once your natural hair starts appearing outside of the loc I’d say you should take them out.
I want to do this but I'm scared of it drying my hair by the synthetic hair
My daughter did mine in this style and I loved it...hair looks natural and very light on your head
Best butterfly loc tutorial I’ve found. I used this video to do locs on myself and they came out great!
Mywifelies this
At this point, what can't you do, sis?!This style is amazing and you explained the process perfectly. I will be trying this soon. Thank you, Queen. Peace and great light.😍💪🏾
Right
Love that she included the take down (I'm always curious about that part) turned out amazing. Really pretty.
Expliques en français
She explained this so perfectly. It is so hard to find someone to explain the right way and make it easy
Exactly huh
The best tutorial that i have seen as well
Exactly
Yes she did that perfectly
I agree. I'm about to do this for my daughter
Even if it was a thumbs down cause the rubber band thing just say that and still give her a thumbs up for the perfection and how well she explained and showed us dang!!! Stop that negative ish. This lady was awesome and you personally dnt even have to use the rubber bands the style and look is bomb
Awesome tutorial. I love the way you not only showed how to do the style but started off by showing how to clean the hair. Then you ended it with how to take down the hair. This was the best tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you very much!
Exactly
Omg these are beautiful!!! The only thing stopping me was "how do you take them out" but you included that too and I appreciate it so much!! Thanks Kim!! 🥰💕
Glad it was helpful!
My thought exactly but she even explained that. She a jewel 💎
You a real one for adding a “removal” part in this video lol. Love this style 🥰
I swear she is. Just love her
For real. It was like an unexpected freebie lol
I thought the same thing because the way my hands feels when I'm done this kind of marathon, Jesus himself would have to make that request lol
DAT PART SIS!!!
@@MsMindyLuv 😂😂😂😂😂😂 this one is so good 😂😂😂😂
Love this look to the max, haven’t braided my hair in years. First time I’m going to try it. It looks fabulous🙌🏾
I appreciate your videos. I live in a rural area with no options for hair care. Between the travel and cost it's not reasonable at all. With your tutorials I am able to give my entire soul love and beauty....and I look cute cute cute!
I so love this girl because she doesn’t have an hour long intro and a 2 hour video
That part
Wow
Yes, Yes and exactly!
Period!
Why do people click on the dislike botton though? This woman did an amazing job with this butterfly locks and with every other videos she posts,❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That's just some people for yah.
Man I hate that too. That’s because they are some haters. She was beautiful and not only did she perfectly explain how to do this but she also implied a removal of the installment 😌💪🏾 she is the goat for this
Cause they’re haters. Smh...
🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
1. It's an uncorrected mistake.
2. They genuinely didn't like the style or technique.
3. They are her hair blog rivals.
4. They are just in it for the aggravation.
First time ever doing my own hair yesterday and it came out really good. Thank ya girlll!!
I just sent your video to my stylist to show her exactly how I want my hair. You did an amazing job. Very beautiful work 🙏🏾🥰
Is there anything that you can't do, LOL... you are so inspiring. You give me the courage to try and do anything and everything!
Yes!!
I’m gonna have to second that girl... she goood
She is so amazing!!😊💞
Totally agree! She's awesome!
I successfully tried this on my 8 year old and it turned out so pretty. She is so happy. I have NEVER braided in hair on my girls. Your video made me want to try. So I went crazy and did all three of my daughters hair in different styles watching your videos. Thank you!
I learnt a lot from you two years ago and today I'm also teaching people, God bless your hand work, you actually give me hand work
I’m trying this style today on myself!! I’ve watched tutorial after tutorial! Yours was so easy to go along with!! Really cute!!
This style is so cute on you. Can't wait to do it on my channel. Love the fact that you prep hair before installing to prevent itching.😍
Is there any style you can’t achieve? Congratulations on hitting 2 million subscribers! And thank you for the top tier content!
I was just thinking that. She bodies every style she tries out 😍😍
Exactly Kim is literally Queenin.. an inspiration the reason I even started doing my own hair. Haven’t been to a salon in 2 years now sis is everything we need a real boss and its amazing to see. I’ve been waiting on this tutorial too!!
I was thinking the saaaame, this style is just 😍😍😍 tho
Exactly what I'm thinking! Lol
Km
This was an amazing tutorial! I replicated it today without any issues. Thank you!! ❤️
Best tutorial EVER! I did my locs following this tutorial and I’m soooo pleased with how they came out! Big thanks to you for sharing how to do this! I’ve always been hesitant and turned off by doing hair but this very video got me out the door, to a hair store, and home in the mirror! Unbelievable! I’m ready to do so much more!
I can’t wait to reach this level of straight and even parting! 😭😭
Girl it takes me at least 10 min to get a part down the middle.
Whoever is reading this, let me tell you how freaking amazing you are today. And omg let's not forget about how beautiful you are on the inside and outside. Keep being the magnificent person that you came here to be.❤❤
Same to you beautiful queen! Blessings 🥰🤗😍
Thank you so much beautiful! I hope you have a great day 🤗💕
I pray that you know that about yourself as well! Thank you for such beautiful & encouraging words, I really needed to see this today! ❤️❤️❤️
WWWOOOOWWW, CAME IN ON 111 LIKES!!! THE CONFIRMATION IS RRREEEEAAALLL!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁!!!!
Thank you so much
I love using her tutorials... I have a 16 year old and when her braid stylists isn't available I use her videos to do my daughter's hair and it is very easy... we take our time. Takes me longer, but it looks very nice afterwards and my daughter gets compliments and asked who does her hair and I am no where near a professional. Now believe me I still pay for her to go to her stylists as well because that is easier on my hands and wrist, hahaha... so I am not taking out of the pockets of my stylists, but when I can or have too, like when our stylists was on maternity leave and when she had surgery I had too. I am glad this beautiful woman takes her time and explains clearly in these videos to help. Love them!!
You give the best tutorials. You leave nothing out. Other UA-camrs leave out key info sometimes, not intentionally, but they just don’t give the full details. You are so good.
I have so much appreciation for how perfectly geometrical each one of those hair sections are. It’s so aesthetically pleasing now uniform and perfect each little box is on her scalp. Also, first video of the channel I have watched and I just want to say she’s extremely pretty!
Everyone isn't a teacher but YOU ARE SIS...TY!
A year later and this is still gawgeous! 🔥🔥😍😍
Thank you for this awesome, easy to follow video. Was looking for some low key and protective for my hair and this was perfect! I followed your easy directions and was very PLEASED with how they came out. Thanks again for this post! It was definitely worth doing then paying someone else 250.00 to do it.
You deserve your 2 million subscribers! Well done!
And I love how you've supported Whitney and Melanin Haircare. :)
This video was amazing!!! Followed it to the T and my hair looks awesome I’m so in love with it. Even had someone approach me in the store and tell how nice it looked and asked for my stylist info only to be shocked when I told her I did it myself. And so I shared this video with her. Thanks again Queen! 🙏🏽💪🏽
You are very welcome Stacey! Glad it turned out so well for you!!
❤❤❤DEFINITELY ABOUT TO TRY THIS AND I LOVE THE FACT YOU SHOWED HOW TO TAKE THIS OUT...THAT WAS DEFINITELY A CONCERN
Your video has been a game changer for me. Excellent job! I won’t pay ridiculous prices for anyone else to do what I can do for myself🥰 Thanks for the lesson.
Me watchingThis : ouu yeah i fasho can do this.
Me doing This: 😩Awl Nawl baby this aint gone work
Me 😭😭
😂😂😂
LOL!!!!!
Lmao! Nooooooo i got my hair deep conditioning so i can start em tonight! Dont say daaaaaat! Lol
True 🤣🤣
That's one of the most beautiful an easy install butterfly locs I've seen in a while u did that sis😍
Wow honestly this is the best tutorial that I have ever seen as far as the angle of the camera and how you allow us to see every step clearly. I hate seeing hair tutorials that leave you still confused on how to do the style. Thanks for sharing. Looks great...now I feel confident enough to try.
Love it! My first time doing this style in my daughter’s head and it looks GREAT! She has the 47 locks as well! Thanks Again for sharing your talent!
I have searched UA-cam for a no crochet butterfly loc tutorial. Your hair tutorial is by far the most professional and knowledgeable video I've come across. I appreciate your content, sis! 🙌🏾🧡
Boo I miss u 😑😑😶
Man this looks like it would take me FOREVERRERRRRRRRERER
If I still had a head full of thick hair, I'd definitely try these braids!! Thank you for such an informative video from start to finish. It was very thorough and easy to follow. Stay beautiful queen!
You can do it with short hair to !!!!
My hair is thin I’m scared to do this myself 😅
@@LotusDavis I'm studying it for my short thin hair. Lol!
You and the style, GOR.GE.OUS! Thank you for this clear, concise, and beautiful lesson.
Can we get a makeup tutorial? Your makeup is BOMB!
Op 2nd. s %
It's a blessing to do all that herself. Nothing like having skills
You must have felt it in your spirit that someone needed this. I was just thinking about trying this style so this video came right on time .
Right on time
Definitely the best butterfly locs tutorial video I've seen on here. I love how you showed how to remove them at the end, which most videos don't include.
How many packs of hair did you use for this hair style
SOOO Lovely! I love how natural it looks. Thanks for sharing your techniques!
HAIR TIP : Guys soak the rubber bands in some oil so it doesn’t cause so much tension at the roots of your hair 🙂
Really? I'm doing it
All that tension would give me a headache and pull hair from the root.
@Just Anniee what kind of oil?
@@portiaparker1669 any kind. I use sunflower oil from the kitchen lol. Just pour a little in a bowl and put all the rubber bands that you plan to use in there.
Girlll what bands do you use because my bands break when there is oil in my hair!
Her: 4 hrs
Me: 2 days
Don't come for me😂😂😂
At least 12 hours for me😩
I watched this thinking the same thing!🤣🤣
sounds about right
I want to try this style but I feel like it would take me about 12-16 hours to complete it.
🤣😂🤣🤣
What I appreciate about your video is showing how to take them out. That was a bonus. Much appreciate it.💐
The best video seen so far without all the extra hair love it 💚. Thank you Queen
I’ve been subscribed to you and watched you for years and this is the first time I’m commenting 😭😭😭I don’t even know why! Just wanted to say, I love your videos 😍🙌🏿
Thank you so much!!
Lol..same
You always give us so much "Girl, you got this- TRY IT!" ❤Make-up is FLAWLESS🔥
Thank you! ❤️ You change the game for me! I have gotten so many compliments on my passion twist on my first time doing them! More compliments than professionals hair braider who did my hair before 🤦🏾♀️& you save me a lot of MONEY Seriously!!! 💰🤑🤑🤑 🙏🏽😇
Your hair looks great & 👍🏽😃 you are great instructor I can’t believe I did my own hair! 😲🤩
This video is amazing! I love the detail, speed is perfect, the breakdown and explanations!! And how to remove them! Thank you so much!
Yours was one of the truly helpful, detailed how-to hair videos I've ever watched. Thanks for including the how long and take out stages of the butterfly loc process in a single, concise treatment!
Look at you hitting the 2 million subs👏🏽👏🏽
This tutorial is much easier than some others...thanks because I'm an old school stylist. About time I learn new things
Thank you for this tutorial. I was able to do this hairstyle for my daughter. And she loves it!!
She makes it look sooooo effortless..it took me two days 😭😜
Did it come out nice?
@@dehjhunaeday5743 ^^
She's so beautiful. I really love all the stuff that she does. She always explains it patiently so that we viewers can understand.
I completed this look and it turned out beautifully. Thanks!!!!
She’s so pretty! You did that ❤️
The way she parts...my high density hair would never. 😩
i meannnnn it would never .......that jam or wax game has to be out of this world strong.
sadd
Beautiful Kim!!! I remember when my daughter had her hair done like this. I looked at her like she was crazy. Her hair did not look neat like yours. She said mom that’s how they’re supposed to look. 😂😂
There are different kind of butterfly locs some people like it more destressed
This has been the easiest way I have seen. I don't like cutting the hair once it's in and then burning it. They stick together and it don't last for me. I love this way.
You have so much patience with your hair. It always look good and perfect. Parts straight and everything.
Honestly no matter how you make all your styles easy to do, I always end up struggling and it not coming out looking anything like yours. I love this style.
The G.O.A.T strikes again. I literally just paid to get this done. Gonna try this on my own. Thank you!
You did a great job explaining.... Way better than anyone. 👏🏽
This is beautiful and you made it seem easy! 🙏🏽💜
Finally someone trying them with this brand of hair.. they came out really cute 🥰
I love this! Since being stuck in the house, I've taught myself to put passion twists and box braids in my head. I definitely want to try this next! I love the length especially. And you made it look so easy..lol LOVE!
Okayyyy you’re making the best of this quarantine!!
You are a gem to humanity, I ordered the hair and will do this on my daughter's hair🥰 wish me luck.💫
This is so so beautiful on you!
I've dreamed of having butterfly locs. But was told once my feed in braids(2) wasn't appropriate. So I look at y'all's and admire it.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your tutorials!! I have watched your tutorials for years!! You are gorgeous and your information, techniques and final projects are always amazing. Flawless!
Thanks so much for your continued support!~😘
Highly gifted.
That was a perfect layout I like how you transitioned from each face the way that you broke it down and kept the audiences attention was epic
I love watching this channel everytime I want to try a style I learn through this channel she makes it look super easy ❤
Gurl, u have saved my WALLET with ur videos. Did my 1st braid with ur technics & I'm sssooo happy! No more shops!! THANK U SO MUCH!! 🥰💖💖🤩💯💃👍
PS..and I'm going 2 try this 2!
You make it look so easy but I know I'd be struggling for more than 4 hours!😂 Great tutorial!
Yeah I tried this before, it is not that easy. 😂 😂😂
Exactly! 💯
Preparing the crochet patternit is a project ! So this oh lord 🤣
Girrrrlll, you ROCK!! Other UA-cam influencers need to take a lesson from you on how to create an instructional video. Very clear and concise.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Ok I done watched this video like 50 times and imma try it this weekend!! Wish me luck!! Yours is the BEST tutorial!!
This video was so perfect I already ordered my hair. Can’t wait to try it
I can honestly say this is the best step by step tutorial and straight to the point. I love it! Such a pretty style on you. Thank you beauty! 🥰
I’m definitely giving this a try this weekend! Thank you so much for sharing.
THANK YOU!!!!! I really like this tutorial. The fact that she mentions cleaning the hair and how to do so is The best advice..(.only because I'm so dumb) had I not run across this particular tutorial it would not have occurred to me to wash my hair extensions first and No Other tutorial that I've watched
(& I've watched a Bunch) mentions this crucial step.
Girl you made it look so easy to do!!! Love the style
How do you get your parts to be so clean and straight😭 I would spend a good 15 mins trying to do an ear to ear part and it comes out looking crooked as hell
Same! I can't seem to make a straight part of someone paid me!!
Girl that's me 100%
Using a metal rat tail comb helps. Like anything with a REALLY fine point so you can get in there and be really precise, moreso than with a standard plastic rat tail. Also, if you do lots of similar styles, you will train your hair and it will be easier to part it on the first go.
Also using two mirrors is very helpful.
If you can't do get a friend to part for you.
This was best tutorial I’ve seen, thank you. Sis you a real one for doing the take down method
This is a great protective style for my natural locs. I'm gonna try these.
Absolutely a great professional look. Thanks for showing how to remove. Gorgeous and makeup is flawless.
