Zenny was a very late bloomer. She was playful, intelligent, and extremely distracted. Partly due to her intelligence, partly due to immaturity. She had shown great form and excellent speed, but her mind was all over the map. Her trainers and owners did not want to push or damage her , and they stuck to bringing her along slowly. At about 3.5 to 4, she started becoming the racetrack monster we all know and love. She retired at almost 8 years old. I haven't seen or heard much about her babies, but who knows. I also believe she lost a filly to a paddock accident. 2015?
lekkki1 Yes.Z Princess,as they called her.Her War Front filly.Freak accident in the weanling paddock,she broke her back.Z hasn't had much luck with War Front.The colt she had by him died at 3 days old of aspirated meconium syndrom.So sad...Cozmic One hasn't done well on the track.Ziconic,her second colt,sired by Tapit,is showing signs of Zenyatta's come-from-behind style.She currently has a beautiful filly by Medaglia d'Oro and is in foal to Into Mischief.

No. This is Z's first foal, the colt by Bernadini. 1) This video was posted in August 2012, the year Cozmic One, the first foal, was born. 2) Both her Tapit colt (2013) and War Front filly (2014) have blazes, not stars. 3) her 3rd foal is a filly,the shot at 1:57 shows this is a colt.
Wonderful. Now we need a montage of Queen Z and her Tapit colt. He's magnificent! Gonna be a big boy, that one. Then we'll need one next year about this time for her War Front foal. :) Hope it's a filly!
+bambimixyyumi Just because she is bigger doesn't mean her uterus is. Go google a photo of a foal in utero (in the womb). The foals front legs are folded into its belly. Normally that's not an issue. But the bigger the foal gets, the more and more "squashed" it gets in utero. This can cause complications, like bleeding, for the dam (mother) and complications like improper growth of tendons, ligaments, bones for the foal, making them pigeon toed or bow legged. This requires surgery for a successful life as anything else other than a companion horse or pasture ornament as we call them. Without it, they can't be ridden, and normally they get put down at a younger age because of pain, arthitis, etc.
WOW -Would if everyone had such a fabulous nurturing Mom like Zenyatta:))) Does this Baby have a name yet? I have not heard his name- I think ZenBoy or Zenny's Boy would be too cool!
Hm. Blue grass of Kentucky, loving handlers, plenty of turnout. How warm and fuzzy! Reality check: 30,000 new foals per year with only a tiny fraction going on to earn their keep. Guess what happens to the majority of the rest of these wonderful animals? It's too horrible to say, but involves a cattle truck and a trip to Canada or Mexico. Breeders in general and the Thoroughbred industry in particular must stop breeding so many animals and put more effort into finding good homes for the ones that already exist.
No they wouldn't, great horses dont make great foals. Both of Zenyattas colts were by top sires and they performed poorly on the track. And Secretariat was a failed stud, out of 600+ foals he sired, only 3, Ladys Secret, Terlingua and Risen Star, were halfway decent.
You dont judge a Horse by how good it is by how many races it wins in a row. Kincsem was racing donkeys compared to the strength in depth in horse racing now. You have to put Kin in the top 10 of all time just based on her amazing record. But so little is known about her as it was so long ago now.

Nobody gives her credit anymore it’s so sad... she’s the queen of filly’s nobody will ever take that from her and I’m sure she could of taken queen of mares just like that she always started in front and never let a horse pass her. before she broke down she was beating a colt
